65F and Pretty clear for me. I rode in with my boss today, so I got some hill training in before work.

Good ride home yesterday, tired but good ride in this morning. Nothing really to report.

Today was my ride fast to work day, I usually just cruise in, made it in record time. 36 minutes moving time for 11 miles. Doing my cool down lap around the parking lot stared off into space looking towards the building and came back to reality about 2 feet before a big concrete island in the parking lot.
Braked and swerved mostly around but the angle was too much and I went down. Couple gashes on the right leg but the bike is ok. Overflowing arkel panniers took the initial blow and came out without a scratch.
Overall it was a great ride. The looks I got walking to my desk. It isn't as if I was dripping blood on the floor people!

No meds here. After nothing worked to stop or even mitigate my jump-off-the-bridge migraines, in desperation I went to a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine. He took my pulse and asked a bunch of questions and gave me a big bag of leaves and flowers and bark and whatnot, told me to boil it up and drink the juice, two cups a day for a week. The stuff was incredibly foul, but it was worth it: I had one tiny migraine after that, then one start-of-a-migraine, and then no more. A year later I started having problems again (migraines are often seasonal, and late spring/early summer is peak season), and my practitioner had me take a milder and more form of the same medicine for a couple of weeks. Since then, never a migraine.

Nice commute today -- this stupid storm system finally moved off the coast, and it's a beautiful sunny day. Counted 20 other commuters on the way in. Can't wait for the ride home!

It's a perfect morning here in the Roch, and the first week I've been able to go five in a row car free in a while. Not easily done with teenage kids' schedules to contend with.

No drama on the ride in today. No buses either.

I ride between Layton and Centerville. I agree...at least it's dry. The ride home last night kicked my butt. You'd think after all this time it'd be easy. I think it was the headwind that got me.

Nice and cool. On the drizzling side of misty.

Came in late - loved my commute - in fact took a tiny little detour and enjoyed not having too much of a rush of traffic. Too nice to be inside.

Not oil/gas, no. Most recently I've been working as a secretary/receptionist at a school; my training is all over the map so I don't really have one thing that I do. I am very good at finding, synthesizing, and communicating information (ADHD works for me in that respect - I get interested in something and hyperfocus until I know everything about it), and I am very good with people. I am extremely bad at paperwork, filing and bookkeeping!

I do have a meeting with the top boss this morning to clarify, since everything got filtered through my immediate boss who has a raging case of ADHD. (Seriously, he's worse than ANY of the kids we work with, and ten times worse than I am).

I took a new way home, twice as long as my regular route and WOW! It was full of cyclists going REALLY fast. I usually ride at 24-26km/h and these folks were blowing past me when I was doing 31km/h. I can't wait till I'm in better shape so I can maintain a 35km/h pace for longer than minute or two.

Excellent ride home. After attempting to fix my front flat problem 5 times I ran out of patches and tubes. Left the bike locked in our data center. This morning I took the train in with 2 new tubes and a patch kit. While slowly inflating the tire I noticed around 40 psi the bead was lifting up. Moved the tire and slowly inflated it. All is fine. Don't know why that particular part of the tire and the rim did not work together. Anyhow, I can not stand these tires and have lost confidence in them. The heck with a new stem. Time to purchase new tires. Red michelin pro races!

Oh and the commute was nice and warm with plenty of attractive women out jogging and sunbathing while dressed appropriately. What a good day to be out and about!

The heat is here....104 on my way home, and it's only going to go up from there.

My goal was to ride every day this past week and I hit 50%........... a blow to the head by one of our special needs students........severe behavior disorder. Apparently I was out for a couple of seconds and principal required me to go to ER to get checked out. Mild concussion.......no riding for a week! It's Saturday and I'm still fuzzy in the head............friends would probably say nothing new!!? Two days of school next week..........unable to ride either day but Wednesday AM, no more commuting, I'm leaving on a 2 week bike camping trip to Canada and every hotsprings I can find!

For the first time I can remember, I was fast in the morning and not in the evening on the Friday commute. Still a nice week of riding even if I was only able to ride four of five days.

Yesterday was a good day. You see, my 12 mile commute takes me ~5 miles through some very rough urban neighborhoods. Most days I just hope to make all the lights and truck on through without being noticed. Yesterday during those urban miles a teenage boy riding a beat up bmx saw me coming and started peddaling furiously to try and outrun me. So I rode alongside him for a while. I could tell he really enjoyed the thrill of riding fast and trying to compete. It made my journey memorable and perhaps in some why I touched his life. A good day indeed.

Ouch! Glad it wasn't worse. Re: Hotsprings, After riding all day there are few things better than sitting in the hotsprings, BUT, do not expect to ride more than a mile or two afterwards. From personal experience, I can tell you cycling is somewhat problematic when your leg muscles have turned into something resembling well cooked noodles!!

Last week was a good one, apart from the driving rain and hail on Weds going home. Oh well, after you're wet, why stop?
Nice rides in the morning, early enough to be cool, and light on the traffic, the afternoons have been a little busier, but all in all, enjoyable.Expecting delivery of the Heron this week, that's going to be fun.

Another glorious morning. High 50s and sunny. No wind. I was about to enter the MUP and a rather attractive young woman in roadie dress, riding what looked like a pretty nice road bike, came off the the MUP, made a U-turn in front of me (not dangerously), and then took off in the same direction I was headed.

I had mounted my knobby tires on the Liquid over the weekend for some trail riding, so I decided to see if could keep up with the woman. She was actually one of the fastest riders I've encountered on the MUP. We were cruising along at about 20MPH, and it was making me work with those tires, which were singing loudly. I imagine she heard me back there. I hung with her for 5 miles until I turned off onto the street close to work. Great ride. Fast!

Very nice commute except for the MARTA bus # 2765 which buzzed the h@ll out of me on North Point Parkway. The bus was less than a foot away from me while I'm doing 25 mph or so on a slight downhill.
WTF is a public transportation vehicle doing buzzing a cyclist? To make matters worse, right after he's past me, he moves over to the left lane which was open the whole time. I think I'm going to call and complain.

Man, almost got hit again today! On Thursday a guy decided to do a rolling stop and hit his brakes just in time, and today a truck took a shortcut behind a building and almost hit me as he was pulling out from the side. Other than that it was great

Here is a tale that makes it clear why when in doubt - ride...

PART 1

This Sunday I had to teach some cycling classes pretty far away (Scarberia, for those who know Toronto). So I took my new beautiful Specialized Tricross and set out. I went through three tranquil ravine paths (without getting lost even!) and hammered through virtually empty Sunday-morning roads catching every green light on the way... Lots of fun.

PART 2

As I was teaching, I got a phone call from my mother who said she was coming to pick me up and give me a ride home and then maybe go out together. Since she lives kind of far we don't see each other that often, I agreed to the arrangement. So she came and after my classes were over, we started putting the bike in the car. And you could see that the bike didn't want to be put into the car. The handlebars were just wide enough to make it difficult to push the thing into the trunk. The brakes were a beotch to disconnect for some reason: I just gave up and let the air out of the tires and pull the wheels through the brake pads. And the worst part is that at some point my mother apparently got tired of holding the rear end of the bike and just dropped it!!! Not from a very great height, but still, just dropped it on its carbon seatstay... WTF?? Why can't you lay it down gently? That bike is LIGHT and at that point the wheels were off already which makes it lighter still.

Anyway, eventually we stuffed the poor beast in the car, suffered through miles of boring highway (at least there were no jams) and arrived at my place. And as I was assembling the bike on a grassy patch near my apartment, I managed to step into dog poop with both of my new bike shoes. And I mean REALLY step into a BIG pile. With BOTH shoes. What a ****ing mess!

CONCLUSION

I think it's pretty clear which part out of the two is more fun.
