The stretch of road that I thought was going to get new asphalt turned out to be chip seal. ugh. It is not a long stretch though.

The idiots in my city are doing an entire 6-8 lane street with chip seal. Great. Going to find a new street to ride on. I hate chipseal. What an idiotic idea.
After riding on chip sealed streets I almost need my fillings replaced.

Best commute ever... got passed around the 2 mile mark by a woman doing about 3-4mph more than me, and I was mashing along in top at a steady 16-17mph. She had a perfect body, much of it on display, sheened lightly with sweat, pretty face and short dark hair in a pixie-cut. 10 out of 10 on my scale...

Naturally I had to speed up to keep her perfect behind in view. Sadly she took a different route to me after about eight miles, by which time I was well knackered, and I arrived at work a sweaty mess, but hey. Fastest time ever.

A great ride in. Very fast, very smooth, very warm: according to NOAA, it was 76F when I left the house before 7, 79F when I rolled in, and currently it's 83F with a predicted high of 100F. And, around here the hottest part of the day is always about 5:30, just in time for the ride home.

I love it. The same folks who a couple of months ago were telling me it was too cold and wet to ride a bike are now going to say it's too sunny and hot....

Thanks, I'd be interested to hear it - I'm actually on a daily med that helps a lot, but I realised I actually forgot to take it night before last That is not very useful!

Talked with a couple of people at work and feel a bit better about the situation here. I'm not the only one getting nervous so we are kind of supporting each other. If all else fails, there's a couple of people who will be good references for me and can network me into another position.

Agreed My ride in today was kind of chilly, but I beat the rain by a few minutes. I felt sort of slow and tired, but not in too unpleasant a way, if that makes sense. I took it easy, noodled along in low gear, and didn't worry about the time.

Today sucked. No energy to get out of bed. Then I forgot to eat. With about 2 miles to go, I got honked at while some old dude tried to turn right on red while I was waiting at the light. Being grumpy, I dropped an F-bomb on the guy. After it dropped, I knew it was completely uncalled for. He was just trying to scoot around me. The honk was just a little meep. I either should have taken more of the lane so that he'd have to wait, or get over to the curb and not so far forward so people could turn. It wasn't a dedicated turn lane btw, but most people turn right at that intersection.

Who here among us can say they wouldn't have done the same thing? 8 miles of beautiful view is a great way to start the day.

commute was rough...still no energy...i got dropped last night on the way home by a group of dudes...i love that about bikes...you can't judge a book by it's cover...the guys that dropped me didn't look like anything special...but they were trucking into a 14mph headwind at about 22-24mph....so i hung for about 5 miles and bonked...

again...no energy today...pretty sure this diet is wuppin me...just waiting for it to turn around and give me my energy back.

Is it time to go home yet?

I swear I'm calling in tomorrow for a mental health day and going for a good long ride. Like maybe to Banff. Augh.

Ah-ha... no such luck here in the 100 degree weather. Hmm. But the sunsets and sunrises are quite a view... I guess that makes up some?

Oh my goodness. I decided to change out a tube with a slow leak and then the replacement tube exploded. Gave my coworkers a heart attack. Then went through all my patches trying to fix the tube I was going to replace that for some reason would no longer hold air at all. So much for reaching my goal of 5 days commuting.
Going to leave the bike locked in our data center and take the rail home. Tomorrow I will take in 2 new tubes and a patch kit. Crud.... I really wanted to ride my other bike to work. Now I will have to ride this one home tomorrow. Oh well.

I had a great ride in, they just re-opened a stretch of road and it's all smooth asphalt, such a nice change from the regular potholes.

job or migraine? This is one of the worst cities in the continent for people who get migraines. The weather patterns here near the mountains are horrible for that. And i feel your pain on the frustrating job part as well. Hang in there!

Ok...it was rough this morning. First commute in over a week because of various work stuff. Just couldn't get into it this morning, despite the perfect weather. 90F+ going home in a bit. I hope it's better!

Ah, karma...

After my perfect morning commute, I got a pinch flat and picked up a nail on the way home. After 20 mins buggering about in a pub car-park with my last tube-patch, I went inside and ordered up an air-strike - the missus eventually picked me up in her Volvo.

The bargirl was quite happy to let me use the phone though (my mobile's battery was dead and I had no cash on me) while staring at the various bulges in my lycra.

I almost felt uncomfortable...

Job... looks like I'm going to be job hunting as the Powers That Be want to put a lid on my section, which means no job changes for anybody and a lot more paperwork.

The weather isn't helping, though. (I am Barometra, Weather Wonder of the West! I can detect the tiniest change in atmospheric pressure as my eyeballs try to escape their sockets...)

So, anyone need a roving freelance whatever-I-am?

Hello fellow Utahrd. Where do you commute to/from? I had a hard this morning. I'm not looking forward to the hot commute home. At least it's dry.

Pretty cold and very foggy this morning. At least it wasn't windy.

Damn...it was hot in that sun. Winds from the east at 7-10mph in my face for half the ride...argh! When I got home, I admit, I was beat. I need to hydrate myself a little better in this kind of weather.

I topped 40km/h on the way home with my fastest commute yet! Regularly my commute is 11-15 minutes, today it was 8!

Awesome! It was drizzly this AM, but the cool weather made for a fast ride. I averaged 17.9 on the way in, and 18.6 on the way home for the 43 mile RT. Total RT average was 18.3, a new PR!

60F for me. No wind. Sunny. A full week of glorious morning commute weather. Only saw a couple other cyclists going the other way. Someone on a bike came onto the MUP behind me but didn't keep up. Yesterday was a "slow day" so today I was moving along at a pretty good clip.

I saw some ducks, and another dead mole. And it was squirrel day, I guess. They were everywhere.
