Beautiful morning. Supposed to hit 60s today, 70s tomorrow! Very close to time to take the headlight off for the summer too.

Ride home last night was into a nasty freezing headwind. It was worse b/c I was late getting home and trying to rush.
This morning: low 20s, still windy making for a nice tailwind again, and for a change sunny and beautiful.
Part of my commute is on a lakefront path. The cold, windy conditions of the past few days have created wild icicles and ice curtain shapes on the trees rocks and brush on the lake shore, from all the waves and spray. The sun reflecting off the choppy water and shining through the icicles created an amazing effect this morning. Wished I had my camera - maybe tomorrow morning. Forecast is for continued cold, wind and sun.
Taking a different route home tonight: stopping by the home of a craigslist seller who is clearing out a bunch of old bike gear.

This is my first report, and 14th day commuting.
It was a little cooler this morning then the last week or so. But I am starting to get some sun light before I get to work (7am). My legs were a little sore because I got my first 20 mile day in yesterday.
Other then that, it was "just another day"

Ok guys rightly or wrongly I have decieded to do it.
I have started a forum of my own, although this forum is AWESOME, i'm finding it a bit slow.
I have started a new one that has no ads, no manufactuers attachment and hopefully should load very fast.
Covering commuting, mtb, touring, road cycling and everything in between.
The address is https://bikeriders.info/forum/ would be awesome to see you here
thanks craig

my back tire was very low on air on the way in and I thought maybe I had a slow leak. Finally made it to my destination, locked the bike and came out later and it had lost no more air than when I left it so I pumped it up, went to my next destination and it was holding fine for the ride home.
cold and windy. my body is not liking the switch back to winter. strange... I feel like a crocus that got a load of snow dropped on it just as it bloomed.- did I just imply I'm a delicate flower?
oh, man

Mid 20Fs with a crosswind. Overcast. Some patches of ice in the usual (always-shaded) section, so I had to slow down and be careful with the summer tires. No problems.
As reported yesterday, I had a flat tire. Last night I pulled it and found a tiny shard of glass had gone right through the thickest part of the tread, dead center, and barely pierced the tube.
I cleaned it up, patched it, and put it back on. Looks like it's holding air okay today.
How come I can ride for 3 years on 27x1&1/4 road tires and never get a flat, but I get a flat 2 days after mounting thicker, wider, beefy tires.

Freezing this morning, wind in my face the whole way, and my left contact lens decided to slide all over my eyeball, making things a little hairier than they needed to be...

yesterday was cold and gusty... makes me feel nasty, brutish, and short. My knee started hurting on the way home, so I took the train in today... took about the same time... I saw a commuter flying along on the MUP from the train window, made me wish I'd ridden in today.

Chilly but quiet. Good Friday; it seemed like traffic was about 1/3rd of normal.
My wife bought me a massage at a day spa and I had the massage last night. I feel both better and worse. I'm much looser than before, but looser also means I can now feel all the lactic acid I'd built up in my shoulders and neck. Made riding this morning hurt much more than usual.

pushing but not at 50F when I left this am, spring is springing! Yesterday was supposed to hit 60s, got reasonably into the 70s, today is supposed to hit 70s, wait and see where it tops out I guess.
I spun in the whole way, too, that was fun. <50 gear-inches all the way except for two 30+mph downhills. Cost me 6 min over an hour-ish (58 min yesterday, 64 today). Bandana not dripping this morning, however.

4:15am - The rural portion of my morning commute. I was in the left turn lane, slowing to the red stoplight. A white pickup was coming up fast and decided he didn't have room/time to get in front of me, so he slowly approached the light behind me. As I waited for the light to change, the driver opened his window and called to me, "Hey..."
(I winced, expecting to catch some grief about cluttering up the roadways)
He continued, "...your belt ain't working today."
After a moment of confusion, I looked down at my belt of incredible ugliness ( https://www.sciplus.com/recommend.cfm...ry=196&start=1 ) and realized I hadn't turned it on. I did so, and thanked him for letting me know.
Commuting in to work by bike is fun, but that little episode made today's ride even nicer.

On the way in, I got passed by a Chicago Parks truck. It only had a couple mph on me so I decided to tuck in behind. It was towing a woodchipper on a trailer. As soon as I get in the draft (aaaahhhh . . .) I hear someone say "Hey, good morning." I look up, and there's this guy hugging the control panel on the woodchipper. He laughs and says he just jumped on for the fun of it. I chuckle all the way to the next light, where the guy bails out. Well, that's one way to get around town without waiting for the bus.
Other than that, fairly normal WINTER commute (curse you, NNW wind).

Ride in was cold (for florida anyways!). Almost had another head on collision with another commuter again with no lights on his bike at all..... Should I just start closelining people when they do this to me? OR just yell "get at light a$$hole"?
Ride home was nice and warm. Went and cashed my little paycheck and had to go renew the insurance on my car that I havent drove in 3 weeks now.

Snow in April!!! Ride home was almost a white out. Good thing I checked the weather report and dug up my cold weather gear this morning. I had a blast and thought maybe I was a little crazy until I heard some people out cutting their grass. It was 80 degrees F on Monday!! Gotta love this crazy Kentucky weather!!

rode in via Comm Ave. today. Came home on the bike path. It's been a little chilly and damp lately.
Once again, -12c temp and a 30km/h headwind. What happened to spring?
