Cool and breezy morning for the ride in. Left a little late and got held up by a couple of buses picking up kids. Got buzzed pretty good by a jetta on one of the back roads and the crazy part is there wasn't even anybody coming in the other direction. I'm hoping the rain all stays south for the ride home this afternoon.

Anybody could put on a safety vest and act official. Doesn't give them the power to set speed limits, especially idiotic ones like that.

Gorgeous and sunny! Friendly biker day today, wound up pretty much doubling my commute time w/ various chat opportunities. I got in about as late as I was expecting to when I got up this morning 'cause had made up time dropping off the kids earlier, they were very orderly this morning. Can't really hope for that again this week. Maybe one day, but can't guess which one...

Bad start, weather-wise, to the local Bike to Work Week. Very cloudy and sustained winds of ~30 mph.

I didn't ride to work today. Instead I did a commute to the doctor for a follow-up appt. I'd planned to go in to work after, but a crisis at work and those winds convinced me to work from home today. I'll ride the rest of the week.

Wet and windy. I was a bit slower than usual. I wasn't feeling too good at the start of the ride, the wind was gusting hard enough to dang near knock me off the bike, and I wanted to keep my speed down because some of my route is SLICK when it's wet.

Even with all of that, it was a nice ride.

Commute part went fine. I parked my truck, started pedaling. Then remembered that the road might close for flooding, so I went back to the truck and relocated it a half mile away for flood-proof parking.

A light drizzle/rain kept things pleasantly refreshing at ~48 deg F. No issues.

Now...when I got to work...my usual locker area was "closed for cleaning." Bugger, this has never happened this late, usually it's open before 7. And it's 8.

That would be fine, there are other showers a 5-10 minute walk to the other side of the building. But I needed my hygiene kit, so I broke in, used my front headlight to find my locker, and retrieved my supplies.

Hoofed it over to the other end of the building...those showers are closed indefinitely for repair.

So I lugged all my crap BACK to the original locker room, and decided to just use it anyway. It was very dark. And the water did not even begin to resemble warm. :sigh:

There were no significant winds in Durham during the morning commute, but a light rain that ended quickly. Unremarkable otherwise. The scent of honeysuckle still fills the air in spots!

I had a very nice ride in this morning - great weather, little to no wind, bikes and cars got along.

Lets hope the ride home goes the same.

windy ride in and windy ride home. wind in the face on the way in and behind me on the way. But I got a flat! Bummer.

Lots of cylists out this morning. It's been faboous weather for riding the last few weeks - sunny and cool.

I had a look on the Pyrmont bridge MUP, and there is a sign that says '10kph' at one end, although it's far from prominent.

I wonder if it's enforceable.

The ride in was absolutely beautiful; the sun was just coming up, but it was warm outside! It was in the 50s. I was kind of sad when I pulled up to work. I could have kept going.

The ride home was fun, too. As I stepped outside, it started sprinkling. By the time I got to the entrance of the MUP, the rain was falling steadily and hitting me in the back...wheeee! tailwind!! It was a cold, wet, sloppy, fast ride home.

Damn wind...

Not a great commute tonight.

Nothing wrong with it, but just felt a bit unsettled. Seemed like there was some aggro out on the streets. I had this bizarre feeling that I was going to have a stack. Or maybe my heart just wasn't in it tonight.

At 45F/7C, it was actually a bit cooler than yesterday morning. Without the buffeting by 30mph wind gusts and pelting rain though (not to mention dragging along supplies for the week), it was a much more comfortable ride in.

As I was leaving the shower area, I heard a woman just coming in saying something about "winter again."

I kept my peace.

Chilly ride in this AM (by NC standards at any rate) 43F. Had a car pass me on Hwy 54 at ~6:15. Right after he passed me he went up the curb and onto the median for a moment while doing ~60 mph. He was in the left lane, and I was in the right lane, so whatever caused him to hit the curb was not related to passing me (unless he was watching me in his rearview mirror and not paying attention to the road). He was probably messing around with his cell phone or coffee, or whatever. Glad he went left and not right or he could have run into me instead of the curb.

Now this is more like it for B2WW. Saw another bike commuter on my route for the first time in months. He was riding a mountain bike with no tail-lights and a black backpack, so not very visible. Thought I might catch him on my roadbike, but I got caught at a red light and then passed him at a bus stop waiting to board.

It was chilly this morning (mid-40s F) and I overdressed. Just didn't feel like freezing my butt off, so I wore one of my warmer jackets and brought another short sleeve jersey for the ride home. The weather here is sunny with no wind and the high expected to hit about 70F this afternoon.

Unseasonably cool but an uneventful ride this morning.

Beautiful out this morning, a little cool when first starting but pretty much perfect once I got going. Not too much traffic out for some reason, which always makes the ride in nicer I love mornings like this.

Good ride, a little cool today but it supposed to warm up later on. Felt like there was a slight headwind most of the ride but I managed to power through. I saw a few other bike commuters this morning which is always nice to see.

Yet Another Nice Day. I was cruising along pretty quickly. Saw someone on the MUP far behind me who never caught up, and I wound up catching someone about a half mile before I left the MUP.

Quite a few runners out. Probably training for the Vermont City Marathon in 2 weeks.

You could cut the fog with a knife this morning. Rolled in with what felt like 20oz of water on my beard. It started to burn off at mile 6 or so and the rest of the way was smooth cruisin'. Rode my race bike today (mtb), which was a nice change of pace. Looking forward to the commute home.

at 46F this morning it was a little chilly with my shorts and t-shirt, but I warmed up quickly - I already commited to not breaking out the cold weather gear again until November! Great ride, non eventful.

trombone, you mention there might have been some angry mood out there. Do you think this could be related to the situation with the driver who took out the 50 cyclists? I read some of the online comments in response to an article about it. Admittedly those comments always bring out the most extreme nutcases, but the ones I read were even more hateful than usual. And now that the guy has "gone missing" I imagine moods are more enflamed--on both sides--than they were.

As reported by others here in NC, a chilly ride today by our standards. Yeah, I had to unpack the cold-weather gear I put away just last week. I'm hoping this will be the last time until probably November.

Nice ride in this morning. Temps were about 45F, so I just wore a long-sleeved jersey and packed a s/s jersey for the ride home tonight when it'll be in the upper 60's. Felt good to be on the bike again and the cool temps meant I was able to hit the showers sooner when I got to work.
