Cycling Achievements Thread!

I'm a big gamer - and it's always nice to get the little "achievements" when you kill 100 zombies or whatever it is. Recently, I've been applying the same reward system to biking for my own amusement.

Some of these achievements can and should be attempted, others are little things that happen to you by chance, some are just for fun, and some SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE

Here's some of the ones I've been throwing around in my head...Feel free to add to the list, be creative and have fun with it!

(Achievement: Description)
Free Spirit: Take an alternate, unknown route on your way home
Mashin' Potatoes: Climb a serious grade on the highest gear
Diaper-legs: Forget to pack a set of underwear, walk around the whole day with your bike shorts under your slacks.
Flyin': Go over 30 mph
Rocketman: Go over 35 mph
Reckless endangerment: Go over 40mph
Show-off: Pass a car when it's not stuck in traffic
OVER 9000!!!!: Burn over 9000 calories/week, climb over 9000 feet/week, or bike over 9000 miles/year
Sprinter: Haul ass to make a stale green or yellow light
Hardened: Get hit by a car
Hahd Baastuhd: Get hit by a car, finish the ride to your destination
Ultimate Hahd Baastuhd: Get hit by a car, the car suffers more damage than you
Rainman: Commute through a rainstorm/thunderstorm
Frosty: Commute while it's visibly snowing
Desert Fox: Commute when it's over 90 degrees outside
Trooper: Commute at least 3 times a week during all 4 seasons
Iron legs: Bike 200 miles in 1 week
Look Ma'! No hands!: Ride without holding the handlebars for 1 mile
Pwnage: pass a road bike, while on a mountain bike. +1 if you were wearing sandals, +2 if you were carrying gear and they weren't
Jitterbug: Drink some coffee before your commute
Boy Scout: Get a flat tire, replace it on the road because you're carrying a spare
Pragmatist: Get a flat tire, call a cab.
Gear-Head: Perform your own bike repairs
Haters Gonna Hate: Zip by a bunch of cars stuck in traffic OR get home/to work in less time than a car would have taken
Gators Gonna Gate: Pass a gator.

Additions:
Clippy: Unclip left/right, fall opposite.
Oooo Shiney!!!: New bike
N+1: Bike acquired
Triple Lutz: Have fallen on ice
Spinnaker: Have had a 30 mph tailwind
Beating to windward: Have had a 30 mph headwind
Double Whammy: Flat both tires at the same time
Litterbug: Lost pump/water bottle/whatever somwehere on the way
Follow the White Rabbit: Chased by a big dog
Tastes Like Chicken: Got caught by the dog
Who Let the Dogs Out: Chased by multiple dogs

Awesome!

This is a fun thread.

I've gotten these so far:
Free Spirit
Flyin'
Rainman
Desert Fox
Gear-Head

Last week I rode over a small river and saw a couple gators on the river bank from the bridge (not so rare for us floridians) does that qualify for Gators Gonna Gate acheivement?

In the last 3 yrs:

Free Spirit - now and then
Sprinter - often
Desert Fox - coming up again LOL
Trooper - 5 days a week, miss a few here and there
Pwnage - very rare, maybe twice

Can't count Diaper-legs 'cuz I don't wear bike shorts, just regular shorts. But have forgot a change and gone thru the day in the same shorts I rode on the ride. Very rare. I work hard on not forgetting now!

In my teens and twenties did several more of those.

I like this.

The ones I have NOT collected are:

Reckless endangerment (not really sure though since I don't use a cyclometer and there are no crazy big hills around here)
Ultimate Hahd Baastuhd (been hit by automobiles before, I would prefer to stop with the experiences I have had)
Look Ma'! No hands! (need to figure out where I could do this)
Pragmatist (never for a flat tire, once for a stripped freehub)
Gators Gonna Gate (not too many gators around the Chicago area)

Oh no... I hate in-game achievements, the dumbest thing ever that happened to gaming. So I'm not interested in cycling achievements either. I ride. That's all.

None of the things that feel like cycling achievements to me have anything at all to do with commuting. But ... since you asked, here's my greatest cycling achievement of the past week. I'm still beaming.

Awesome thread! The only ones I haven't gotten are:

Mashin' Potatoes: Lol, I live in south Louisiana... no hills
Flyin'/Rocketman/Reckless endangerment: Lol, see above
Ultimate/Hahd Baastuhd: couldn't finish the ride with a broken femur.
Frosty: Lol, see #1 and #2
Pragmatist: no cabs here.

I'd humbly submit these as additions:
Double Whammy: Flat both tires at the same time
Litterbug: Lost pump/water bottle/whatever somwehere on the way
Follow the White Rabbit: Chased by a big dog
Tastes Like Chicken: Got caught by the dog
Who Let the Dogs Out: Chased by multiple dogs

Lol the "Gators gonna Gate" one was just for fun, because it rhymed with the last one...but yeah if you passed a gator that counts lol.

I added the additions to the list, some good ones in there...just thought of a new one today:

Froggy: Swallow a bug

So far I have:
Mashin' Potatoes, Diaper Legs, Iron Legs, Flyin'/Rocketman/Reckless Endangerment, Hardened/Hahd Baastuhd/Ultimate Hahd Baastuhd, Sprinter, Show-off, Rainman, Frosty, Jitterbug, Litterbug, Froggy, Clippy, Haters gonna Hate.

Oddly enough, I got Pragmatist this morning, but I wasn't too happy about that one haha

Hoping to have the following by my 1 year commuting anniversary:
Trooper, OVER 9000!!!! (miles)

I've got Diaper Legs, Flyin', Rocketman (though not on my regular commute, there are no hills really big enough to get this fast on a daily basis), Showoff, Sprinter, Rainman, Desert Fox (though summer weather here means it's more like Steam Room), Trooper (though Shanghai winter really isn't worthy of the name), Jitterbug, Boy Scout, Haters Gonna hate, Oooo Shiny, and have ALMOST gotten Clippy a couple of times but never actually quite achieved it.

A couple of suggestions:

Customiser: Significantly alter a bike in some way.
N-1: Destroy a bike.
Heavy Haulage: Transport goods exceeding your body weight.
Preacher: Successfully convert a motorist to cycling.
Who Needs a Boat?: Ride a flooded road.
Foreigner: Ride across an international boundary.
Explorer: Discover every map location in single player mode (just kidding)

I achieved "Hahd Pwnage" last summer. Biking home from the park (only about 5 miles total) with my 2 boys (3 and 4 at the time, about 85 pounds together) in a trailer behind my mountain bike, passed a guy in full billboard-bright lycra on a bike worth more than my car. To be fair, it was up a pretty significant hill...

Oh, if looks could kill.

My last achievement was teaching myself to ride a bicycle at age 5 1/2. All the other decades of riding have just been a small elaboration on this.
