I know that i'm probably in the wrong forum, but can you guys make a recommendation? My ride has moustache handlebars and a basket that is mounted on top of a canti mounted rack. I posted here because I do commute with my bike but would like to attach the child seat easily for weekends...

a box bike would be freaking awesome!! I was in the eastern market section of DC one day and this man/family pulls up. Husband, pulls up to the handrail, wife and kid gets out, they go into coffee shop.. get back in..and they were off. It was awesome!

Eventually your child gets to tall or too heavy to use it, but it's great being able to talk to your child while you are riding. Now that she's older we have a bakfiets which is quite cool as long as you don't try and go anywhere fast. I used the bobike mini with my daughter. It was great. I had the optional windshield which really helped extend the usefulness. It kept her out of the wind in cold weather. We got caught in the rain several times as well and she stayed completely dry as long as we were moving. I felt it was much better than the other options available at the time like the ibert and some of the seats that positioned the child behind the handlebars, directly where your knees need to be.

The only, small, complaint I have is that the harness could be better. It didn't keep her upright when (not if) she fell asleep. I rode ten miles home one day holding her with one hand. Realistically, I don't think she could have ever fallen out, I was more concerned with her comfort and frankly the appearance of riding along with a 1yr old slumped over sideways in the seat.

I think there are more options on the market now, but it's a good place to start.

You may consider the WeeRide Kangaroo carrier.

I've not used one and so cannot attest to anything about it, but it certainly seems like a more sane design than a forward mount in some ways, and limited in others, particularly for forcing an unusual, knees-out pedaling form. For bike stability and mount/dismount ease it looks great, but I really don't know.

We use a Co-Rider. Daughter really likes it. I like it as well because it's fairly easy to take the seat off of the mounting bracket when she soesn't go. Lot's of questions form other people about it.

The down side is that we had to order it. The up-side was that they had great customer service.
