Nice commute this morning! Today was the first time I've used my shoe covers and I was impressed at how comfy my feet were despite the 3C weather & headwind.

Most of the snow is gone here but there's call for 5-10cm more snow by Friday morning. Feels like the winter that won't quite end...

Lots of rain, lots of wind, 1 celcius. I was soaked and cold when I got to work but still, a bike ride is always nice!

Unfortunately if the weather forecast is right I will have had a big headwind on the ride to work AND on the ride back home tonight

The bright side is that I will be able to get the whole Canadiens vs Capitals hockey game on my way back home on my Ipod. GO HABS GO!

We're having the nicest weather of the year so far, but I'm stuck at home sick. I drove to work yesterday because I rode 240 miles last week and my legs needed a break. Good thing because I started getting sick after I got to work. It all started when I was curiously short of breath walking up the stairs in our building, then I started feeling nauseous in late morning. Left work mid-afternoon and laid on the couch all evening with a fever and aches. It is sunny and warm outside with temps in the 70s, but I won't be riding today. Hopefully I will be recovered by tomorrow.

Light rain and cold but not much wind. It was a long but nice ride into work. The commute home will be much wetter if they are right. It is what it is.

I live on 143rd street and work on 8th, I have about 10 miles of commute daily, and today I threw my back out on 60th. I should have stopped and finished my ride on the bus, but I finished my ride, hunching over my handlebars was easier than standing up. I'm finally at work and can't sit down at my desk.

Had one of THOSE commutes yesterday. About two miles from the house, I was in the left turn lane, with the right of way when the fella in the green Blazer started to pull out in front of me. I locked brakes and came to a stop with lots of room, the same time he saw me and came to a stop. We were both in the middle of the intersection and had a car coming the other way. He and I BOTH had to back up a bit to let the traffic through. He then waved for me to proceed, to which I responded with a firm shake of the head. He shrugged and pulled out, and I got back underway. The rest of the ride was easy. Then on the way home, I'm headed south on the highway in the bike lane. A semi from a local company goes by, flashing a right turn, so I ease up a bit to let him do it. There is another semi, from the same company sitting at that same corner, wanting to make a right onto the highway. As the first semi completes his turn and I approach the intersection, the second semi jumps forward into my bike lane. I GRAB BRAKES fore the second time that day and come to a stop in the intersection looking at a tire that is four feet tall, in my bike lane. Driver looks out the window at me and says he's sorry, and to go ahead. I'm in a high gear and can't get my recumbent moving again without fooling around a bit. I finally push the bike around him, crank down to a low gear and spin crank with the rear tire in the air to get the bike to downshift. I follow my regular route the rest of the way home, watching out for the foolish and inattentive drivers that seem to be surfacing today.....

I wanted to go hard on the way to work, and I did well. Second best personal time ever at 39 mins, 20.5mph avg. (best: 38min, 21.3 mph av with slightly different route through town) Very COLD, only 30F when I left the house.

Took it a little easier on the way home, just focused on spinning a nice cadence. 45mins, 18.8 mph avg. Legs started to die at the last 4 mile mark but still squeezed one good finishing mile after the last stop sign.

Warm, warm, warm!

After living and riding all winter in Boston ( I missed only 6 days of commuting by bike this winter). I am now happily ensconced on the upper West Side of Manhattan and commuting to Brooklyn via the West side path and the Manhattan Bridge. What a fabulous start to the work week with these glorious warm sunny days. I feel like I've suddenly been transported from my studded tired winter bike wrapped in layers to a t-shirt and jeans on my zippy little folder. Very strange and sudden transformation but I'm not complaining.

Yep, very warm commute yesterday. I put on my thin leg warmers but took them off as soon as I stepped out of my house. I had a long-sleeve undershirt on, but didn't need it and didn't wear it home.

The ride itself was frustrating. The 1st Avenue bike lane is always full of obstacles, and was even more so yesterday. Trucks unloading, clueless pedestrians, taxis, construction, were all out in full force. Instead of putting bikes in a safe lane away from traffic, they put us in a confined area where we have to dodge everything else because nobody has a sense we are there. At least as part of traffic nobody will just walk out without looking.

Cool, just above freezing with a headwind for about 1/2 the route. Have shifted my route up to my longest commuting route of 16km but am not racing to complete it, just taking it easy. A little sore from yesterday's 9km in, 2 sets of stair runs with a co-worker who wants to get into shape, 16km ride home and then 16km in this morning. I plan to keep up this pace as much as I can, hoping to develop a 5day/wk commuting habit so that the "double" metric century ride (2days@100km, not 1day@200km) is within the possibility of completion at then end of May.

44F/7C, no wind, overcast. Lake Champlain was fogged over and I couldn't see New York State. I saw a couple of geese slowly paddling around near shore. It made me think of how car-commuters never see that stuff.

65 F this morning, supposed to get a little rain around 8 pm, so I'm hoping that holds and I can get home prior to that. Mile 70 for the week today, I extended my ride by another 20 miles last night, a friend wanted to ride and I figured I'd give it a go. Legs are feeling it a little this morning.

Commute was fine and the legs have recovered from this weekend's long hilly rides. But the showers at the gym did not have water. Rough hair day at work for sure.

I saw it this morning, at exactly 8h04, I was comfortably siting on my saddle, going to work and the BAM!!! there it is: THE SUN!!! I swear!
It was a nice morning, low headwind, 5 celcius but a lot of traffic : at least 4-5 cars following a farm tractor, my head was spining

Nice! Although there was light during my whole ride (6:15-7:00), it was overcast so no sun.

62F, wet and a little rainy, thunderstorms forecast for this afternoon. Of course Monday and Tuesday were beautiful... and I had to drive. Oh well, no complaints - seems Spring has finally sprung. Strong headwind in means tailwind going home - yeehaw!

Yesterday rode to work and it was nice other than more than usual people cutting close to me but still a nice ride. I rode home and added a few miles on to it. My legs are just so sore and just feel tired. I rode so much slower home than I usually do.

I am wondering why my hamstrings are so tight. I had the bike in the shop and they raised the seat to put it in the stand. I am thinking that it is a little too high. Does that sound right?

I took the car today since I have to leave work 1 city, head home eat dinner 2nd city and then head to youth group in a 3rd City. The joys of living in the TRIAD.
