I did the same once but I had to walk 5-6 kms to find a phone because my cell battery was dead. Since then I got a second set of tire levers and I charge my cell weekly.

Great ride this morning, as usual.

I must have started early or gone faster than usual or both, at my desk 30 minutes early. And that after a detour to the convenience store. I startled the girl at the counter, asking me if it was raining outside - me in my non-cycling attire drenched in sweat. I said no it's just me; I don't know what she thought of that. Probably felt sorry for the decrepit older guy who couldn't handle the morning heat. LOL

I enjoy the detour because it's more or less downhill into work and I take the whole lane at a pretty good clip. A car was pacing me from behind in the left adjacent lane; I don't know why they do that, just curious maybe. It's not like I broke any speed records that they could post on facebook, 32 or 33 mph tops.

Sunny and quite warm, with a bit of a head wind. It's good to be back on the saddle.

Still adjusting to the heat and humidity after returning to NC from jolly old England. Even though the UK is having a record-breaking hot spell, it's still much cooler and less humid than Southeastern USA. The heat didn't bother me during my commute yesterday, other than sweating like crazy, but I woke up with a terrible leg cramp 45 minutes after I went to sleep last night. Had to get up and drink of bottle of water with electrolytes after stretching a bit. Man, do cramps hurt!

Great commute today. Cool (10C/50F), but sunny and no wind. Had good energy, and had a good, fast commute. I think I annoyed a motorist downtown because he wanted into my lane, but I was able to keep pace with traffic, so he had to slow down and merge behind me.

Hot and humid - my kind of weather! On my ride to work (Capital Crescent Trail), there is a divet in the downhill side of the trail, maybe 12 inches across. For some reason, that divet annoys me more than any other bump on the trail (and there are many), and it is very hard to see but I usually avoid it. I know the general area because a nearby tree has white-ish bark. Anyway, I was daydreaming and I hit that divet this morning - it is usually a bone-jarring bump, but on my new bike, it was just mildly annoying! Still, I hate that divet. I should spray-paint it - the old paint wore off. Otherwise, a nice ride in.

Hot ride home, but not totally sweltering. Some douchnozzle in a Jeep slowed down and rode behind me for like 1/4 mile with the oncoming lane clear, and then decided to squeeze past me RIGHT WHEN ANOTHER CAR was coming. I swear these motorists do not have brains, or sense.

I found the nail in the tire yesterday and put the new tube on. This morning was pretty hot but I made it all the way with no flats. Fingers are crossed for this afternoon. I leave for Chicago tonight so I will not be commuting by bike again until Monday. Ride Safe Everyone!!!

It was a nice ride in this morning warm and humid but other than that very uneventful. I am going to try to stop at the farm stand after work and get tomatoes.

Hit the road at 6am and a nice 66degF. It was a scorcher yesterday afternoon going back. It said 98degF on the bank thermometer. I had to drink alot to keep going but took it slower and it was fine. I'm used to the heat now and adjust the pace accordingly. At least I know I can adjust from snow and cold extremes on my winter commutes and this heat and humidity right now. It will come in handy in the event I ever have to move to a different climate.

Hot and humid, 24C (75F) with a humidex of 32C (90F) and that was at 6:10 this morning. Took an even longer route in this morning, 33.7km (20.9mi). It was fun, took about 1:16 but since I'm starting later this summer, I can afford the extra 35 minutes on the bike.

Thunderstorm forecast for this afternoon, let's see if it happens or if I get to ride home dry (dry from rain that is, I'm a sweat bucket these hot, humid days).

Woke up at 4:10 and it was pouring rain. Put all the rain gear on (just showed up last week so thought I may as well use the opportunity to try it out), even pants. I knew I'd be warm, but wanted to try them out, and I figured I'd take my time and go relatively slow. I got 3 blocks and the rain stopped. 2 more blocks and the road was dry.

Still happy to be riding. I would have been more frustrated had I caved in and drove the truck to work when it was dry for the last 9 km of my commute.

Miserable ride yesterday afternoon. When I left work it was 97F, sunny and extremely humid. I caught every red light, so was left sitting on the hot pavement -- with temperatures that easily must have exceeded 100 -- at every traffic signal. On top of all that, I had a headwind and my neck started hurting real bad for some reason. I was thinking to myself, well at least it's not raining. Then I started noticing the sky getting darker as I approached home. Two miles from home, the bottom dropped out and I got totally soaked, riding through pouring rain the rest of the way. When I woke up this morning, my neck was so stiff and sore that there was no way I could ride to work.

That rain must have felt great as long as there was no thunder and lighting. This hot weather has my neck and shoulders hurting too.

33.7 kms in 1h16 is not bad for a MAMIL!

Hot and humid this morning but with a good tailwind I didn't have to push too much.

As always, a nice commute.

95% humidity this morning. Put my new Sweat Gutr head band to the test and it seems to be working so far.

Good ride home last night. Surprised my wife with the speed. She said that is about the same time as if you drove it.

Plus she said my bike is as important to our family as our 2 functional cars. I wonder if I could capitalize on that feeling by getting some fenders or some other goodies for the commuter... ha ha

Hot and humid, heat index supposed to be over a 100F this afternoon. It was nearly that hot yesterday and I'd planned to stop at a book signing event - went anyway even though I was a sweat ball. The author is a friend and acknowledged me as he walked in - I think that kept others from whining about my dripping sweat on the floor!

Nice ride in again today, though hot, hot, hot as dcb said. Yesterday afternoon was brutal on the bike. Biked to a Dr's appt and then home. Weeks ago I picked this week to try and commute at least 4 maybe 5 days. Work schedule is perfect this week for commuting. Had I know it was going to be the hottest week of the year I may have changed my plans. Sticking to the plan so far, though when I get home I am completely beat. I've lost 6 lbs since Monday morning! Tomorrow is the one day I that could go either way and I'm leaning towards the car .

I'm used to (ok, maybe not "used to", but "expect") idiots on the road not paying attention, but on the multi-use path I've had better luck. Well, except for a girl yesterday who couldn't be bothered to look up from her phone as she pulled a u-turn. She's lucky I was able to come to a stop rather than taking her out at 20mph.

Cool and sunny this morning, just like yesterday. Lovin' the road bike these days. I often pass other cyclists on one particular hill; today on that hill I raced a couple park maintenance guys riding in a golf-cart type thing.
