Well it was a nice ride(temp was 71f when riding through town)in till I got to the last hill and going up it my chain came off so I had to stop and fix that. I am lucky as that is an easy fix. I am not the type of person who usually knows how to fix anything or what is even wrong, but it is easy to notice the chain not working. It went back on fairly easy. So for a mishap when riding not to bad at all.

Very muggy, 19C (66F) but with 100% humidity, if feels like 26C (79F) and forecast to go to 28C (82F) but feeling like 35C (95F) this afternoon with thundershowers.
First ride in 10 days, very slow but glad to be on the bike again.

First commute in over a week since I've been on vacation. I rode 350 miles while off work, so I kept my bikes busy. Visited my brother outside Chicago and rode several days on farm/prairie roads there as well as 3 days in the moraines of southern Wisconsin. The weather was cool and dry compared to NC, so it was a big relief from the heat and humidity -- which was in full force during my morning commute today. Arrived at work totally drenched in sweat, despite riding at a relatively easy pace. The weather forecast is calling for high humidity with possible afternoon thunderstorms every day this week. Welcome to NC in summer.

Humid is the word of the day - not too hot this a.m. (70) but humid and very wet from thunderstorms yesterday and last night. Pretty good (bad) headwind. My hip's been bothering me for a couple weeks so before I left I dropped the seat a couple mm's - hip feels better already. Amazing how such a small adjustment changes biodynamics

Same as usual today, warm, humid, chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. I've got four days driving in and 117 cycling this year, and now three years on the same route it's just a routine.

Yeeeeeehaaaaw! Sixty Fiver built up a new set of wheels for my old road bike, and finally got to ride it to work again! This is only the third commute on that bike this year, since on the second one, the rear wheel self-destructed. The new wheels are very nice (thanks Sixty!), and while I'm not enough of a princess to really feel a difference between the old wheels and new ones, I am very happy to be back on the light-weight road bike after hefting around my LHT all season so far.
Unfortunately, I'm feeling quite fatigued - newborn kid isn't letting us sleep much - and it's sapping my energy a bit. Still, I couldn't help myself when I hit a hill just behind another roadie commuter. I hung on his wheel until about halfway up, then he gave me a look that was either, "I can't believe you're keeping up!" or "Will you get off my tail already!" (I'd like to think it was the former, but it was probably the latter). So, I went around him and sprinted the rest of the way up. He must have turned off somewhere behind me, because after that hill, I had nothing left and just poked along the rest of the way, but he never caught up.
13C, sun and cloud, negligible wind.

Took this bike to work on Friday (sans trailer of course lol) (NO NOT THE PINK ONE!
) and dude, it was slow as balls compared to my road bike. 75 minutes each way vs. 65-68 minutes typically on the road bike (61 is my fastest time with a tail wind). It was also my first time doing the full round trip to work and home in a single day.

weird weather this AM:
-As i was gearing up, it was lightly raining.
-When I went down the elevator and got outside it was pouring like a cow pissing on a flat rock.
-Manhole lids were bubbling up water and a few manhole covers had popped off.
-Half way to work (30 minutes later) it stopped.
-At the creek-crossing, the creek had flooded, and the MUP was under 2 feet of water. I geared down, pedaled slowly, and plowed through it.
(Usually here, it just drizzles or rains--but doesn't pour.)

I rode in this morning in torrential rain, tonight my wife phoned and said she would be out and was coming to get me.
My jacket, socks, gloves, Timbuk2 bag, shoes, were all still wet from this morning. I tucked my tail between my legs and took the ride home.

Overslept this morning and considered driving to work, but decided to ride after stepping outside to get the paper. It was clear with a pleasant breeze and seemed less humid than yesterday. That turned out to be an illusion and I was drenched in sweat by the time I was halfway to work. Had a headwind the entire way, but I caught green lights at all of the major intersections for one of the few commutes in my history, shaving more than 5 minutes off my commute time.

Counting the inches as I rode in this morning, wondering if I would make it all the way before the dark clouds turned to vicious thunderstorms. I got to a mile from the office and the sprinkles started, but it wasn't until I got inside that the we got the full waterworks.
Now all I need to figure out is whether it will thunder again at the time I head back home.

No commute yesterday because it was 'La St-Jean Baptiste, fête nationale des Québécois' A 4 days week end is always good.
Next monday is Canada day so it will be another 4 days week end.
This morning commute was great, a big tailwind but it's very hot and humid.
