There seems to be a trend these days, hot and humid and thunderstorms, I'll contribute the same although hot here in Northern Ontario is not the same as hot in NC or SoCal but it is all relative to what we're used to. Forecast last night called for rain and thunderstorms this morning but that didn't happen, now it seems to be put off for my ride home. I felt slow coming in, probably the heat and humidity but my cyclocomputer says that I rode in at a reasonable rate.
The humidity is causing me to chafe so I'll have to start using chamois creme from now on (I bet you all wanted to hear that didn't you!)

I work a compressed work schedule, 45 minutes extra for 9 days, get the 10th off. My ADOs (Accumulated Day Off) are on alternate Mondays and my next one falls on Canada Day (Monday July 1) so I get to take Tuesday off and the week becomes a 3-day week.

The forecast for today is rain and thunderstorms, but it's fairly bright out right now. So, I guess I will jump on the bike and head out and probably (if the forecast is accurate) look for salvation (in the form of a car) tonight.

Don't you normally work a 4-day week? Wouldn't that make this and next week, 3-day weeks?

WOW what a difference a stiff tail wind makes, and a fast bike of course. Friday's commute took 72 minutes moving time on my KHS. Today's commute on the Felt with tail wind took 62 minutes moving time. I felt very fast on even the slightest downhill sections and maintained speed longer on uphill sections.

It was extremely hot and humid on the way home. I had a head wind and the route I took was a little longer but I made it three minutes quicker. I needed a change in scenery.

it was raining yesterday on the way home and I slid and fell on a slick piece of pavement.
Up until that point I was having fun cruising in the drizzle. Now I have a bruised shoulder and a bit of road rash.

I'm so geeked! I made an effort to work a little harder and put some cycling tips I found to work this morning and went from averaging 13mph to work to 14.7mph on my ride this morning. Instead of 55 minutes, my commute took me 51 minutes. We'll see if I'll be able to keep that up next time I commute on Friday. This morning definitely showed me why so many commuters have fenders, it rained last night, and now every puddle I hit is on the back of my shirt. lol

A little cooler this morning on the ride in. I took the highway route so that I would not get burned out on my other routes. One more day and I am heading to the beach.

Thought I would avoid the rain yesterday afternoon as the radar showed mostly clear skies when I left work. Nevertheless I rode hard because the clouds were dark and the humidity so high that it seemed like only a matter of time before it would start raining. I almost made it, until I heard a very loud clap of thunder when I was about 3 miles from home. It started pouring almost immediately and I was completely soaked by the time I got home with my shoes full of water. When I was cleaning up at home, I noticed a strange rash all over my chest. Not sure what caused it but my chest was still all red and puffy this morning, so I decided to drive today so I can go see the doctor.
Picked up my newest commuter bike, a Ritchey Breakaway Cross at the shop yesterday after I got home from work. The bike was at the shop being built for about a month, so I was eager to get it. Spent the evening in my garage prepping the bike with final details -- some new tires, a computer, different pedals, seatbag, etc. I was really eager to ride it this morning, but decided that I better go see the doctor because I don't often get rashes and this one looks rather funky. My left arm has also been hurting for past couple of days, and perhaps I got bit by a spider or something.

Ride this morning was wet from storms all night. But, no rain while I was riding in so apparently the universe had pity on me. I don't think I'll be so lucky for the return trip

Super humid this morning as always, 8 MPH headwind. Had to stop twice along the way to wipe sweat out of my eyes. Seriously need one of those Sweat Gutr things or something. 72 minutes moving time, whereas it only took me 62 minutes yesterday for the same route with a 14 MPH tailwind.

It was quite humid yesterday and I thought for certain that I would be riding in the rain. I made it to and from work with no rain yesterday. Thank goodness. I guess Tarwheel got our thunderstorm. (ps hope the rash clears up)
Todays ride
I forgot to get my Halo head band out of the washing machine last night so it was soggy as I put it on this morning. I then realized that I had forgotten my water bottle as I had already ridden for 7 minutes or so. I left it sitting on the kitchen table.
BUT As I was slowing for a stoplight heading into the downtown area. A guy yelled from his car "I like your Cadillac!" I said thanks and smiled.
I was wearing my free Cadillac jersey out of Bicycling magazine from a few years back. Not everyday people yell something pleasant..

Nice morning ride with a little tailwind.
Last night on my way home I witnessed a motorcycle crash on my way home. I ride a rural road with very very little traffic so it was kind of unusual. The guy seem to have lost it all by himself and went straight in the guard rail. The guy and the bike looked badly damaged, It was a big nice Harley Davidson.
