I got passed by a roadie last week, the first bike commuter I've seen in a long long time. He proceeded to pass me and then go slower than I was......

Headwind coming home, but was probably 10-15 degrees cooler than last week. Took about 8 minutes longer than my fastest time, but I was really trying to take it easy and enjoy it.

The ride in this morning was very nice, the rain is gone for the next few days and the skies are clearing. The temp was 54f when I rode through town this morning and I could smell the scent of the flowers at different times during my ride. Another great start to the day!!

We were out late last night at a David Byrne concert so the legs were tired but the ride was still beautiful. It was cool and 65 degrees with a strong head wind. Fog and cows were everywhere. The views and sounds make me glad I am biking.

Bikes: Several bikes, Road, Mountain, Commute, etc.

Cool but not cold commute, 64 Deg.F at the start. No wind, no hassle from cars or trucks. Lots of light by the time I got to work. Natural light wise, I really enjoy this time of year.

I guess that's better than being passed by a guy with a dog in his backpack.

15C/59F, grey, humid, breezy. First official cycle-commute since my second daughter was born 2 1/2 weeks ago. Tired.

Forgot to post this pic I snapped on the way home - field being burned. The crackling sounds sure were loud! Smoke seen from miles away. This morning it was almost all black.

With all the cute ladies... wait a minute!

Beautiful here today though still a bit cool in the morning (63F). Yesterday I had headwind coming in and going home. What's up with that? The bike gods switch the wind direction just to mess with me (because I am the center of the universe?!)

Every commute since Thursday the deer are standing around the Greenway path looking shell-shocked. Or maybe that's a normal demeanor for deer, but they aren't agitated by my passing and haven't been running back into the forest like they usually do. Last night over a dozen in a few hundred feet. I stared right at a couple of them, which usually kicks in the flight reflex but not even a tail twitch with these guys. In the past I might see two or three acting like this after storms, or large groups that run off but not like this. Weird behavior.

I scattered a small herd of deer the other day on my way home. Gravel road, slight downhill grade, and I usually work that area to keep my pace up so cars don't pass me and make me eat dust. I saw one adult but there must have been another, as there were 3 tiny little deer, running every which way. I had to really slow down so that one could collect it's senses and head off the road.

I finally found a nice ride-home detour with bike trail and a hill at the end to get my heart rate pounding gently. It almost doubles the distance (4km to just over 7km), but more than trebles the fun.

Very nice. Warm. Got to watch two Manatees swim under a bridge I was crossing.

Had a decent ride in today. I felt like crap in the morning (more than usual), but didn't give in like I usually do when I feel this bad. The ride almost immediately perked me up. Why don't I do this more often?

A bit cooler this morning, lots and lots of runners out. And a guy on my team here at work did his first bike commute.

It was a a very cool 45f this morning as I rode through town with clear blue skies. I had planned a nice slow ride in in my head i was hearing "carefree highway" as someone mentioned the other day. Till mile 5 when some guy passed me and then I tried for the next 3 miles to keep up but I could not. I could keep him in sight but not close enough to feel as if i held my own. It made the ride in fun.

I meant to write about my commute home yesterday, but forgot after I started working on some bike maintenance when I got home. Yesterday was my first time trying a bicycle commute. My wife and I drive to work together because we work across the street from each other. So I have the luxury of throwing the bike on the rack and riding home while she drives the car home. I'm happy to say the 16+ mile route I picked out worked perfectly thanks to suggestions from a few guys at my LBS and contributions others have made to commuting threads on this site. It is 4 miles more than if I rode on main roads, but boy did it make for a nice ride home!

I'm gonna put a set of slick tires on my bike and do a little more maintenance tonight and try the commute home again a few more times and then try the commute into work by bike a few times before I give the to and from commute in the same day.

I had another nice ride in this morning. It was nice and cool and there was a pretty good head wind. I do need to go a different route as I am needing some new scenery.
