Just perfect commuting today. I had newly paved roads on the first 5 miles from my home. This country road was quite broken up in places. Felt really nice to roll smoothly after all these years of rough going. Traffic was fairly light but I got a lot of red lights. Bad timing.

Awesome. 43°F and no wind. Saw 6 deer and chatted with a fellow commuter along the way.

Beautiful day for riding, like it has been for the past few weeks. The weather has been so nice that I've been racking up the miles and my legs were complaining, so I rested yesterday and drove. I was back on the bike this morning but the rest didn't seem to help my legs much as I felt slow and sluggish. So I just rode at an easy pace and enjoyed the nice weather.

I was planning to take this week off work and ride a bike tour up the Outer Banks or the C&O Canal, but the budget nonsense in Washington put an end to those plans. All of the National Parks are closed, so I wouldn't be able to ride the C&O Canal and would have no place to camp on the Outer Banks. Hopefully Congress will resolve the issue before the weather gets too cold for my tour.

Almost a perfect ride this morning, I got a flat 500m short from work, hit a sharp, nasty rock with my front Wheel. As I was almost there I walked the rest and fixed it in the staff room before clocking in at 9 o'clock.

Really a beautiful morning. The temp on the tower (Allen-Bradley) said 60 degrees. Slight headwind I believe. Was trying to decide last night if I was going to ride hard or just ride ... and I decided I'd just ride. Used Endomondo only, and not Strava. Ended up the fastest "to work" commute I've ever done on my CX bike. Granted I hit many if not all the lights, but it was nice.

Was passed by a woman on a roadie toward the end of my ride ... she looked wonderful riding ahead of me

Boise, Idaho commute

Autumn commutes are a welcome relief here in Boise, Idaho after a record hot summer. I made a little video yesterday of my route, east to west across town.

Was it one of your new Vittoria Rubino's that flatted? (I know, the tube, not the tire).

It's my front rubino 700x23 that has approx. 3000 kms on it so far. The new rubino 700x25 is in the back and still look new.
But that was a nasty, very sharp rock that I didn't see in time. I always go salmon on the last kilometer of my commute, on a 4 lane, very busy boulevard so I was focusing on the uncomming traffic instead of the pavement itself. I hit it at approx 25kmh so I don't think that any 700x23 would have resist.

Pretty much perfect commute today. 64 Deg.F when I left the house, not too much traffic and what there was caused no problems. Made the 5:40AM Metro (instead of my usual 5:50AM) but oddly it seemed more crowded than the later train. Not sure why.

Should be a tad on the toasty side on the ride home but whatever; still feels like summer here in SoCal.

My commute today was pretty lucky I've been commuting once or twice a week for about a year now. It's a about a 15 mile round trip from the country into town at my plant and back. This morning I had my first near biggy problem. The surface I was riding on was pretty bad and my back pack slipped past the bungee and fell out of the rear basket... no big deal. The problem was I didn't see the bungee cord that got wrapped around my rear axle, because of the dark, that kept getting tighter as I rode until I couldn't any more. I had to do some minor surgery on the side of the road and cut out the cord as best as I could. The bungee hooks got lodged around the hub but at least I made it to work on time. I am glad I left early and packed a extra shirt as I was sweating buckets when I got there. I removed the hooks later in the day and made it home after a more pleasant ride. I think I feel like a commuter now!!!

that is so cool all the biking infrastructure to and from work. How far is your commute and how long does it take you in real time?

My commute home was rewarding :-) My daily round trip is about 43.4 km = 27 miles. Been raining hard in Vancouver BC this week, so I've been getting WET (it's my first year commuting, and I started in June). My wet feet <10 minutes in were what really bothered me, especially since my shoes were not totally dry by the time I had to ride home. Bought myself some PEARL IZUMI P.R.O. BARRIER WXB SHOE COVERS and had almost completely dry feet when I got home :-) They were a TINY bit damp for the last 10 mins or so of my ride; and just the bottoms (I think there was a little water spray getting in just above the sole of the shoe; only the bottoms of my socks were wet). All in all happy with the purchase :-)

I lived in New West for many years. I do not miss that rain.

Today, here, was glorious. About 4º when I left the house, watched the sun coming up and it was so nice and quiet I pulled off at a viewpoint where there is a bench, pulled out an apple and sat down to watch the sunrise to the east, and the clouds coming in from the west.

A few light sprinkles this afternoon, stopped off at Home Depot to pick up some bits fro the kitchen faucet and then home.

Ignoring all the crap in between, it was a pretty good day.

No bike commute for me today, second time in two weeks because tonight I'm going to Montreal to see this: https://www.osm.ca/en/concert/adam-co...e-symphoniques
So I'll leave work early to met a friend in Montreal. That's what I call a good reason!

Another nice commute followed by an ice-cold shower. We have had no hot water at work now for 4 weeks. I thought that I would get used to it, but it only seems colder this week. I guess that I shouldn't complain because a cold shower is better than no shower at all, but a hot shower is one of those things that makes the morning commute more bearable. It's hard enough getting up at 5 am and riding for an hour in the dark. They shut off the hot water at work for "routine maintenance" and it was supposed be back on after two weeks, but they found some problems after starting it back up. This is in a building that is only two years old.

Nice, I'd like that too!

A cool 7C (45F) ride in with only a bit of a breeze. Fingers a touch cold for a while but then they warmed up (or got numb? LOL).

Beautiful red glow over a nearby lake before the sun rose but not enough light for my phone camera. I hope tomorrow will be similar, I'll leave a few minutes later to try to get better light.

It doesn't get any better than this. The last two weeks have been spectacular commuting weather wise. A nice calm 48 degF this morning and clear skies. The sun was rising and I have been riding slower for over a week now and enjoying the ride more. I get to look around more since the foliage is in full bloom. We are almost at peak color maybe next week sometime we will hit the peak.

That is brilliant! Where'd you get the jets for your bike? I'm moving to Boise - any houses for sale in your neighborhood and can you get me a job where you work? My ride is not nearly as scenic but you've inspired me - I'm seeing an upcoming work day where I get nothing done!!

This is day two of driving. I looked back and haven't had 2 days in a row in over 6 months, even longer for 2 days in one week. I'm having withdrawal... jonesin

Very nice! Does Charles Dutoit still conduct Montréal?

I broke my average speed records this morning. Good day.
