Oh, that's rough! >.< I had to stop at a CVS along the way to work because I forgot my deodorant at home one time. The cashier said to me, "Gotta fight the funk?" I thought it was funny, anyway.

Well, it's far from a catastrophe. I'm INCREDIBLY spoiled/lucky. My office is above a mall, and I know there's at least a Trader Joe's nearby where I could probably get some sort of hipster/vegan deodorant or something, or there may be a CVS or Walgreens nearby too that I'm unaware of.

And the other thing working in my favor is this office is usually like an icebox.

Keep it up! I'm coming up on my first anniversary (August 21st) of bicycle commuting. It's improved my health, my attitude (much less stressed and more easy-going), and my general energy levels.

Sounds like the wire may be bad if it seems to be working but not reading the magnet.

Nice route! I'd like to try that one (but it is nearly 4,300km to the starting point ).

Yesterdays commute was the first I can remember without any wind for either half of the trip. It was weird, but very enjoyable.

According to the weather channel the Wind direction should stay the same until tomorow but the winds should pick up speed this afternoon so I'll be just fine.

What happen to you when you live a good, honest life and are an awesome guy? You get a nice tailwind like the weatherman said!!!

But please note that it as NOTHING TO DO with the fact that I did my best time of the year so far, 27.4 kms in 53min. It was all in the legs.

31+kmh, Nice! On only one of my routes (the longest commute, 33.4km) can I get close to challenging that speed because of the long, smooth highway portion of about 1/2 of it. I'll see what I can do over the rest of the summer.

Today was dope I got in and got out... I feel like my rear wheel just can't support my weight.. Every crease in the concrete is a potential flat... I want a rear Chukker so bad.. Can anyone help?

They finished the bridge on one of my commute routes. It is the most direct route. When I started biking in June it took me 28 minutes to get to work on this route. Yesterday I did it in 19 minutes and some change. It's funny how you progress so quickly.

Is that your regular commute? I feel so soft with my 12km each way.

In 4 months I've cut 9 minutes off my commute, down to 24 minutes and change. Only downside (if you can call it that) is I find that I'm "racing" to work to see how fast I can go. Fortunately at 4:45 AM I'm not sharing the road with many other people. Only saw 2 cars today, and they were both co-workers.

My regular commute used to involve turning north at mile 2.75 to a train station 2 more miles away. It is now turning left at mile nine to a train station 1/4 mile up that road. The thirty mile ride is done twice a week after work.

There are two more train stations at 18 and 22 miles, but that would involve a different route, and since any of those would involve catching a later train than I usually do, I just go all the way to San Clemente and catch it there, rather than wait longer for it. I did used to go to those when I wad building up my mileage. I actually walk my bike under the tracks at the station at mile eighteen, and fly past the station at mile 22 on a MUP. I used to have the schedule flexibility to catch the Amtrak at this station, but Amtrak started being dicks about bikes on the train. My monthly Metrolink pass used to get me on the Amtrak, but now bikes are excluded from that deal.

Stupid 4:45 commute. I like the ride, but pulling myself out of bed today was too hard. Alarm went off - I turned it off and promptly fell asleep again - this time dreaming I was getting ready for work; what a depressing dream.

Ride this morning was nice - ride home yesterday was great, until I fell over at a red light when I couldn't get unclipped fast enough. Embarassing!

I tried a new route this morning.
The primary reason, other than an alternative;
I've been using a greenway on part of my route. The greenway rules indicate that it is officially closed at 'dark'. It's been right at or just pre-dawn as I ride through there each morning. It'll still be dark before too long.
So the new route is .2 of a mile shorter but felt a lot less fatiguing (14.23 miles).

I still need to work on a couple spots where everything is car-centric, finding my place in the roadway (left turns) and around obstacles. I don't want to use a sidewalk, but I did for about a block this morning.

One other thing, I had a surprise curb jump, I landed it pretty hard. One of those moments that left you wondering why did they put a curb there?

Didn't want to get up this morning, laid in until the last moment. 10C (50F) and very foggy until I got out of the low point by St Charles Lake and up on a minor elevation where, for the rest of the ride, it was completely clear of fog. Glasses really fogged up during the foggy portion of the ride, didn't want to take them off so I had to ride with them halfway down my nose.
