I am good for about 45 miles with only a big glass of coffee with milk.
At least for up to 45 miles, i have more energy having had nothing to eat since the night before.

For my 9 mile commute, I have either a bowl oat instant oatmeal or a bagel, banana or apple along and a glass of orange juice. Then mid-morning I'd have some yogurt or granola bar or trail-mix

I give myself 1 hour prior to leaving. I will eat 1 bowl of cereal, 2 toast, half grapefruit, small orange juice and 1/2 cup of coffee. Commute is 1 hour long, 11 miles, I'm hungry when I arrive at the office. I will have a cup coffee and donut then. I am not hungry when I first get up but if I would leave without eating I would be starving within 10 mins.

When I ride I just get up and get dressed and go! I might drink some juice and some water but that is it just because I don't have juice at work. While at work I eat clif bar or protein bar for breakfast, then I would drink a lot of water until I went to lunch.
I found that I ride better without breakfast. I workout most mornings if I don't ride without eating. I am okay with working out in a fasted state.
10.5 miles to work.

My first meal is normally around 4pm, so I ride in and do half a days work before eating with no problems. It's up to the individual though if that will work or not.

I've got a 15 mile one way commute, but I don't usually eat in the morning before I leave. If I do it's only a bowl of cereal or a couple of hardboiled eggs, along with a cup of coffee (which I have every morning regardless of whether or not I eat). But when I don't eat, I stop a couple of miles from my school to buy a couple of baozi (steamed buns filled with meat) which I then take to the office to eat. By that stage I'm hungry so the baozi really hit the spot.

Mmmm baozi.
I usually don't eat before leaving, but I will try to have a glass of water or perhaps OJ. If my commute is > 20 miles in the morning, I'll throw a granola bar in my back pocket.

I do not eat breakfast before my ten mile ride to work. I do eat after I get to work and shower and get dressed. I go up to my cubicle and have my breakfast of hot oatmeal with cinnamon and a frittata with veggies and a cup of coffee. That has worked for me whether riding my bike to work or going to the gym to work out.

Nope. I ride between 4 and 20 miles one way without food first, with no ill effects. I do eat very shortly after arriving, though.

whole milk, frozen berries, banana, ground flax seed and half a scoop of protein mixed into a morning smoothie. Also cook two eggs and stick that in a tupper for when I get to the office. I'd love to reverse the process but the logistics of bringing a full bottle of smoothies seem mind boggling.
