FYI, a standard stem is easily sanded down to fit a French headset. Okay, it may take up to an hour of sanding and testing and sanding some more, but in the big picture, not a hard thing to do.

Aaron, I said I like your Koga Miyata! Sorry I didn't provide enough of an argument for you. Jeesh.

Do I have to say something nice about Cannondales now?
#684
hot. i like everything about it - even the elderly spring saddle. color scheme is awesome. i usually hate fenders, but the silver really snaps with the rest of the bike. don't care for the front rack but it goes nicely with the older style stem/bars

FYI -- Someone is selling a Koga Miyata at my LBS in Raleigh, NC. It is quite the bargain at only $400 for a complete bike. Unfortunately it's too large for me.

Heck of a good deal - it's a little lower end than mine, but still a great price for a sports tourer.

It's not to my taste, but if you like it, it's hot.

Curious why you'd define a front rack and dual bottles as commuter inappropriate...keeping in mind that one of the few things I'd change is adding a third set of bosses under the down tube. I drink and sweat a lot
I actually like the front rack more than the rear - the balance feels great and when I have a project at work and need LOTS of space, that front rack came in handy.

My comments were more about "looks" than functionality. And to me it looks more like a long-distance tourer than a commuter. (IMO, a coffee mug would have given it more commuter pathos than two bottles).

Gotcha! You're right - it's sort of a do it all bike rather than a true commuter.
I'm actually a fan of tourers as commuters...you might not usually need the extras, but it's nice to have when you do.

I thought about get Tri seat post mounts for 2 extra bottle, but I like my saddle bag, & rear light more.

I know I'm a snoot, I just don't like flat bars, tig welding, or straight blade unicrown forks. I have to go stone cold. Also negative points for the non-drive side photo.

As for TIG welding... deal with it!

Anyway... at the price and condition I got it, I can live with alot of little faults!
