it was 30* here, with 10 mph winds that seemed to change direction during the commute. Seemed a bit colder than what the thermometer stated. Other than that, a nice ride in to work.

Cold again, -20C/-4F with a slight wind from the north. Bright and sunny however.

Accidentally wore my ski goggles off-kilter today, prevented airflow so they frosted up when I had to stop for a light and didn't clear up much for the rest of the ride (fortunately, on a pathway, not on the road).

The forecast is for up to 15cm/6" of snow on Wednesday: winter just won't give up! The report this morning was that this has been the coldest winter since 1993/94 and 4th coldest since records started being taken in 1954. It doesn't feel that way to me but I guess the record is based on average temperature, not necessarily, most intense cold: I remember one winter long ago what was -25C/-13F on Boxing Day and that was the "warmest" temperature for the following 6 weeks.

-22° celcius again this morning. Very sunny so I guess it could be worst. It's supposed to heat up a bit by wednesday but with some snow

-6F on the way in this morning. At one point there was a recently deceased deer in the oncoming lane, I moved into a handily available right turn lane to give the car coming up behind me room to get past without hitting the deer, but not surprisingly the guy was driving far in excess of the reach of his headlights and slammed the deer head on, his car bounced quite a bit and he just kept on driving.

I circled back and dragged the carcass onto the shoulder. If nothing else I'm saving myself the joy of riding through the mushed up remains of the deer in coming weeks as it gets slowly ground to a pulp then rots into slime. Especially since I hope to switch to the road bike later this week - no fenders. ew.

omg nasty, I wouldn't have wanted to touch the thing, personally. Though I suppose you were wearing full gloves, hopefully at that temperature. Wash those gloves quickly afterwards!

I rode over 200 miles last week. When I got up this morning and saw the temperature, radar and forecast, I hit the snooze button and went back to sleep. Sometimes driving to work is the best option, and my legs could use the rest.

I don't think any of us are going to make fun of you... I'm not even up to 200 miles for the year yet.

You know it's been a bad winter when a 10 mile commute in sleet, 15 mph winds, and 25 degree (F) air temperatures is "Better than average!"

Morning: saw a small herd of deer.

Evening: a family was stopped on the bike trail, the second-youngest daughter had wrecked and had a skinned knee, the mom had sent the older kids to the gas station for some first aid stuff. I offered a bandaid but discovered my first aid kit had gotten soaked and the bandages were moldy. I gave Mom a packet of Neosporin and apologized for being a chump. The daughter had wrecked because her chain fell off and got wedged, preventing her from using the coaster brake. She panicked and ditched it. Check your gear and stay safe out there...

The winter that just goes on and on. We had a snow day off from work yesterday. Thios morning at 32F/0C the streets were mostly clear but plenty of snow remains on the cars and yards.

Bailed on yesterday: too rainy for me. But I did ride this morning. The wet trees and icy rain made for pretty trees. I stopped and turned around for a quick pic on my way in this morning.

Nice ride in today, if a bit chilly. I refuse to put on my winter gloves again, so my fingers are a bit slow to type.

30F, 8mph headwind. I also had some extra weight since I had to bring my dress shoes back in. An 18-wheeler thought about passing me approaching a red light, but either gave up or noticed the red light and slowed down to let me back in front. I gave him a big friendly wave of thanks and made sure to start up fast from the light.

Should be nice on the way home: 42F and a tail wind.

I had to leave early this 27F morning so most of my hour ride was in the dark. The almost-spring sunrise was amazing, but I just realized I forgot to shave this morning. I'm not a morning person

This morning on my way to work I saw a beautiful Snowy owl taking flight and going away at about 100-125 meters from the road. It's the first time I ever saw one outside the zoo.

Another cold morning at -20°celcius with a little headwind. Warmer tomorrow but 5-10 cm of ****. Sorry, I meant snow...

No, go back to ****, that is more appropriate, we're forecast to have 10-15cm of **** tomorrow.

I saw a show on TV recently about snowy owls, and they have been migrating South this winter for some reason. Apparently they were overpopulated in the Arctic or just sick of the cold! We've had several sightings in NC, and that is a very rare occurrence this far South.

It was pretty this morning. Still dark, but the moon shone through the thinly clouded and blissfully rain-free clouds and gave me a black and white version of my scenery fix. About 35 degrees so I didn't sweat too much. 3 cars passed me in 9 miles, and I think I've finally gone over 200 miles for the year.

Awesome. My path crossed with a bike commuter on the way in and another on the way home. I spoke to both and they were both quite friendly.

Ride home was awesome yet slightly depressing. Faster than usual thanks to a 20 MPH tail wind. Legs felt really strong, and I was sailing up hills in 4th or even 5th gear where I normally might use 2nd or even 1st (largest cog). Sometimes I even stayed in the big ring where I normally drop down.

But all that great strong feeling was mostly just the tail wind. I'm not actually that strong, which is why it was slightly depressing. Oh well. Another ride in tomorrow.

The ride to work was a chilly 15f degrees this morning under a mostly full moon. I had to change gloves along the way as my fingers were cold less than two miles into the ride. I stopped at CVS and brought my bike in along with me. I do not like that section of town and even though it is very early I prefer to just bring my bike in. The clerk did not say anything. So all in all it was a great ride to work.

36F / 2C A nice ride but I broke another spoke in the rear...second in two weeks. Perhaps the wheel itself is wearing out??

It was still warm. No different grabbing a hoof and pulling than just petting a live animal at that point.
