Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

I do half my miles on paved city streets after work. The other half are longer rides on the weekends with some pavement and some dirt and some gravel. My "gravel bike" does great on the asphalt, and also great on the dirt. The last bike I had couldn't leave the pavement so I'd have to turn around when the scenery got really nice. These new bikes are absolutely more versatile.

I have the Niner BSB and really enjoy it. I'm about 225lb and have had no problems with it. It is the CX racing frame from Niner, which I really like on gravel coming from a road bike background. It has clearance for most 40mm tires although I tend to run 32-34mm.

I'm 270 and on these....

All carbon. At 195 weight is the furthest thing from being an issue.

That looks like an awesome bike. How do you think it would do as a road bike, with some light wheels?

It has worked fine for me. I have a set of 28mm tires that I use when I want to ride it solely on the road. My father has the same bike and also considers it an all around bike depending on what tires you put on it. My setup is 53cm Ultegra hydraulic disc with approx. 1,550g wheels and comes out around 19lbs. I've only weighed it with cross tires on it.
