C961 Display Waterproof?

I have a C961 display by Bafang. In the manual it says "Leave on display membrane for more water-proof." Hilariously worded. I did leave the membrane on, but how water-proof is this unit? If a rainstorm comes up while I'm at work and I'm not aware of it happening, will the display survive? Do they make a water-proof cover for it?

Good point; haven't seen anything specific; could you just put a sandwich "baggie" over it and use a rubber band to secure the bottom? Please forgive me if you've already thought of this.

Yes, I have thought about this, and likely will go that route. I just locked up this morning and looked up at the clouds and was wondering if I should put the cover on my bike, and if not, would it ruin my display.
