Hydraulic brakes with regenerative breaking ?
Hi guys
I want to build a new bike for myself with those 1000W hub motors. My question is i want to buy a hydraulic brake with a regenerative mode.
Can you advise me any brake which is also not so expensive.

Regen Brakes
Regeneration comes through the controller. I think most hub motors can do regen with the correct controller. I believe it is the brake lever only that has a wire to the controller and the rest of the brake is standard and any type of brake, hydraulic or not can work. However you must have a motor that can mount a disc if you want discs. I would get a complete kit from a known local shop because it's a royal pain when the disc doesn't line up with the caliper or the 50 million electrical glitches that can crop up in a peice meal system. I currently ride two ebikes without regen but previously I rode a bike for several years with regen.
Hopefully someone else here will fill in more details for you. ask ebikes CA for info. I do know it's better not to go for the cheap parts as it's a hassle to trouble shoot cheap mechanisms compared to tried & proven.

Re-gen has nothing at all to do with the type of brakes you have... It's a switch that activates the re-gen ability, if you have one, in the system you are using to come on. A controller that changes the motor to a generator when using the brakes, thus making electric power instead of using electric power. Then it goes into the battery to re-charge THE BATTERY INSTEAD OR TAKING POWER FROM THE BATTERY... Can be a real addition, to the system when used conscientiously, as about 15% more usable energy can be added to the availability of the battery capacity under normal road conditions...
