Finding the perfect bike.

Help finding the perfect bike.
I have a budget of 1000€ no more on the bicycle.
It's gotta be a fat bike. I'm sticking it with luna cycles 3kW planetary mid-drive motor and a 28Ah 52 Volt pack.
It has to have hydraulic brakes.
But after that I'm lost. I don't know anything technical about bikes or where to find good sources on standards, measurements and what not about bicycles.
I'm thinking that since the bike is so powerfull and I'm planning on using it mainly by battery power, that is there really need for gears and shifters? Why not just but the right ones for my liking? You know "acceleration vs speed". I want speed but I need to get accelerated also like we all do.

I looked at bicycle photos about the rear wheel and the disc brakes and gears are inside the frame hooks. Stupid question if there is no gears and brake disc would the axel be different from a one that there isnt any of those?

Stupid questions a lot but I don't understand bicycles.

Handbook about bicycle technics that isn't too long would be great.

You already know what motor, battery, style of bike and brakes you want, so you're pretty much covered..just buy a fatbike you like. You'll need gears for a mid-drive because you'll blow the motor grinding up a hill on throttle only: You gotta downshift and pedal to keep the RPMs up.

Of you're not at all familiar with bicycles you may need to have someone install the kit for you, or just buy a Luna Cycle fatbike.

If your not into shifting gears you should consider a direct drive hub motor.
I live in hilly country and have had no problem with my hub motor I am also running 52 volt battery. My bike started out as a very basic cheap mountain bike. No issues and bike handles fine at 60kph so most bikes can be converted with no issues.
Unless you plan on super gnarly off road riding direct drive works well. Less stress on drivetrain, ebrake capable means less wear on mechanical brakes while increasing range by 5% and if the chain breaks you still have motor to get you home. Good Luck

I live in a rainy climate and am using simple side pull v brakes you find on cheap bikes.
Bike stops fine in rain even without ebrake. But discs are better
The hub motor is pre tapped to install a disc on wheel but bike frame doesn't have mounts installed for disc brake caliper. Get a frame with disc brakes installed or at least disc brake mounts which are integral to frame. Is the only way. If frame not made for disc brak es it is impossible to retrofit except to swap out front fork.
Mid drive needs to use gears in drive train direct drive doesn't but I would never ditch my gears if battery dies I can pedal home.

Talk to the guys at Luna. You are really building an electric motorcycle. They have a lot of builds in their forum/website. Look for a build that has worked before and copy it.

Why are you going Fat? Snow? High speed? I would go to a regular 27.5 size if you are just after speed. Tons of tires and bikes available. The only reason I would go with fat tires if I was going to ride in the snow. I have done a bit of snow riding and I'm not hooked on it with an ebike.

You are not legal riding this on most mountain bike trails either---only motorcycle trails.

Don't attempt installing this kit yourself. (I have listened to your questions to get to this suggestion) Find a bike shop mechanic that is into ebikes (talk to them) or someone that is really into ebikes. It is a full afternoon job for a good mechanic.

Tons of power through this system.

It sounds like you have a pretty big motor on a very low end bike. I would never recommend putting even a basic electric motor on a bike without disc brakes---I have been a bike mechanic for over 30+ years---you will be amazed at how much quicker you can stop your bike with discs.

This gentleman has already picked out the mid drive system he wants...

+1 with what Rick says. The Cyclone could be a handful for someone who doesn't know much about bikes, and has a marginally acceptable mounting system at best (IMO) since many individuals have modified it to "beef it up".

Rick. I appreciate the feedback. I actually have a hardtail with disc brakes I had bought to electrify. Honestly not in a rush as v brakes plus ebrake bike stops ok. But point taken discs better.. absolutely yes bought powerful motor on a cheap bike. What can you do? Not everyone is rich. I wouldn't say don't electrify your bike unless it's equipped with discs either. It's really a personal decision. I've been riding bikes for 50 years and am comfortable with what I'm doing. When you ask someone for advice you really asking them what they would do in the given situation. We are all individuals and there is really no right or wrong answer. Cheers

Funny someone mentioned to contact Luna, well their customer service directed me here from the begin with.

I found a bike and that was easily available here.
It has a downhill frame so the 28Ah is not going to fit but they have a downhill battery pack.
