Wanted: Bluetooth on/off switch for remote smart phone power.
Just the other day the idea popped into my head about how nice it would be if I could buy a wireless remote switch/app for my smart phone. I really only need something that would turn the screen on/off but something with a button for answering the phone would be nice too.
When I use my phone on my bike ( for navigation ) the phone is mounted into a protective plastic sleeve that is attached to the bikes stem. This works well for me for seeing a map but the only problem I have is trying to turn the screen on or off while riding down the road. Very awkward I must say trying to press a button on the side of a phone while mounted inside a plastic sleeve.
A wireless remote mounted "anywhere" on the bike would make this sooooo much easier and of course a lot safer. Anyone else think this is a good idea? I have a wireless remote helmet lamp, why not a wireless remote phone?
I did a quick search before posting this but perhaps such a system already exist.(?) If it does someone please give me a link so I can buy one.

I use a bluetooth headset, the kind that wraps around the back of the head and hooks onto the tops of the ears. I often wear it without hooking it onto my ears, leaving the whole thing wrapped around my neck. One of the buttons answers and hangs up the phone. To make it easier to find without feeling and fiddling, I put a dab of silicone glue on it.
I think a remote button to turn the screen on and off makes sense. There might be an app that listens for a play/pause button on bluetooth.

Pressy - Pressy - The almighty Android button may help you out. Stick the Pressy button in the head phone hole and you should be able to at least activate the screen.

This is a remote switch that is turned on by your phone using it's browser. It was developed for remote arming of a high power rockets recovery system. But may be able to be used for other things. Send him an email and ask. Every thing he has is in kit form so you have to build it. Eggtimer Rocketry - Eggtimer Remote Switch
