warranties & purchasing through Amazon
... so ... Amazon is not an Authorized Vendor? wtf?
having an issue with my sportcam. wrote to the manufacturer support dept about a spare part or service. this is what they told me :-(
Hello (xxxx)!
Thank you for that (proof of purchase). Regrettably we are unable to process an exchange/repair for the stripped female thread mount as this unit was not purchased from an Authorized Vendor. Unfortunately the Threaded Female Insert is not replaceable on this unit. My apologies for the circumstance as we are unable to assist you with this issue.
Best Regards,
(xxxxxxx)
Polaroid Authorized Service Provider
btw I see 4 little screws on the bottom of the thing, I'll bet if I'm clever I can get in there and maybe macgyver something
why does everything have to be so dam disposable now-a-days?

Are you sure you bought direct from Amazon or through one of Amazon's partners. Amazon is not always Amazon. That could be why Polaroid said what they did. This is why you need to be careful even with Amazon. But as dr_lha mentions, try returning it directly to Amazon and see if you can get satisfaction.

thanks I took another look and the "seller" was not Amazon. but when I look up the order - my only option to buy it again is through Amazon - almost as if the original seller was Amazon. I wanted to write to the "seller" and ask them why they aren't an "authorized" seller, but the "system" couldn't find an order from me ... yeesh

I like Amazon but love eBay, esp when it comes to returns or other issues. Even eBay wouldn't honor a warranty request, or repair. I think you might have to deal with the manufacturer directly on this one. Good luck
