I've been considering a Princeton Tec Remix for use on my bike helmet. Does anyone use the light or have experience with it? Please advise. Thanks.

If you just wrap the elastic around the helmet, it probably won't hold. But if you put stickyback velcro loopies on the light and velcro hookies on the helmet with some more hookies on the back of the helmet, it might stay put. Just make sure you put the loopies on the light. Hookies are a little uncomfortable if you want to wear it without the helmet.

You could cut the headband, route it through the helmets air vents and tie a knot on the outside of the helmet. a bit of hot melt glue would stop it slipping around also.

A couple zip ties through the vent holds in the helmet. Then clamp on to the zip ties.
I have zip ties running through the rear vents. One long one and two short ones. That gives enough for the light to clamp on. I can remove the light just like I do on a regular clamp.
BTW, I am talking about the REAR LIGHT!! Front light has a PB beamer with it own helmet mount.

Any headlamp can be attached to a helmet. just slide the headband out (there are slots for this) and replace with double-sided Velcro. Run that through the vents and your set.
I don't have the remix, but I have a similar model called the Byte. It's an good headlamp, but my big concern is there is not even an O-ring in the battery door. So questionable how it will perform in the rain. But I use my Byte mostly in an airplane, so rain has not been an issue.
I do have a Princeton Tec "EOS-Bike" Comes with a headband, a handlebar mount and a Helmet mount. As I said above, any headlamp can be affixed to a helmet, but the PT EOS-Bike just makes it easier. It's also waterproof to IPX8 standards and I have ridden mine in heavy rain. It's bright enough that once when my main bar-mounted headlight failed, the EOS got me home.
I highly recommend you look at the EOS.

Alternately, you could consider a 1AAA light like this one: https://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/t...OS-Cree/Detail
9 grams plus a AAA. I zip-tied mine to my helmet facing rather downwards towards my bars, since my main use for it is to use the LOW mode to read my computer at night. If your goal is to be seen with it, then the larger lens area of the Princeton Tec will probably make it more "observable."
One other note, and you may already be aware of this: the one in the first post emits red light.

bicycleflyer and mechBgon,
I currently use a Fenix L1D for my helmet light. I got interested in the Princeton Tec Remix from reading this thread. The Princeton Tec EOS - Bike sounds interesting in that it is a bike specific headlamp and appears more water resistant than the Princeton Tec Remix. Both lights appear to have the same 70 lumen rating. Is the Remix lighter than the EOS - Bike? Please advise. Thank you.

But alternatively, a few models are so small that they don't need to be helmet mounted. They are so small that they can be worn with the elastic strap that comes with the light and the helmet is put on afterwards. The light actually sits on the forehead. Looks like this light could be worn like that too.

Thanks for your reply. I had been bidding on a Remix on *bay, but now my interest is shifting to the EOS - Bike. I get caught riding in the rain at night sometimes, and I want to make sure my helmet light works.

Here is my best bang for the buck helmet light.. let it be known the actual output is closer to 70 lumens.. I use these running and they work great.. The light has high - low and slow flashing (about 90 pulses per minute) If this is be seen light - use the flashing mode.
Once you get the light, there is small screw on the side, lightly tighten, this will add tension to the ratcheting system and will keep it in place when riding.. Take the straps off, there useless.. Buy a velcro loop either 12 or 18 inches work fine.. REI has some nice ones and the velcro hold everything in place fine.. total investment, 10.00..
The pic below is more or less what it looks like, this is an older helmet light, but you get to see how I looped he velcro through the helmet.

socalrider,
That *bay light looks promising. What size and how many batteries does it use? What kind of runtimes do you get? Please adivse. Thank you.

It uses 3-aaa cells.. I use nimh duracell and have never run till exhaustion so not sure.. I would say at least 3-4 hours before I see some dimished output then I re-charge. I have bought about 6 of these lights and put them in cars for emergency lighting, they work great.. Like I said at 70 lumens more of a be seen light. This is slightly brighter than my PT Eos light but about 1/5 the price. Seller I linked takes about 7-9 days to California from HK..

Does the Fenix L1D have some shortcomings for you? It runs 5 hours at around 55 lumens (medium) in a self-contained light that's waterproof and reliable, so I don't see a ton of benefit in encumbering your helmet with a strap-on light like those. If you need more runtime, just get an L2D body, slap on your head and tailcap, and run two AAs.

That looks like a clone of the old PT "Aurora" which was a good headlamp and available in a bike version as well. I'm not even sure if that model is still available. Maybe on #bay. I had an old aurora once. I don't remember it coming anywhere near the output of the older version of the EOS, which was about 35 to 40 lms as I recall. But the Aurora was a floody light, and the EOS was a tight spot beam. That could account for the difference. If there are any PT Auroras (bike or non-bike versions) still available on #bay, they probably could be had at bargain basement prices.
