Serfas Thunderbolt mounting - excess strap?

for those that have this, or really any of the Serfas lights with the silicon straps - what do you do with the excess part of the strap once you have it mounted. It looks terrible just flopping there, and since I mounted mine on my front fork, i don't want it getting hit by the spokes. i double backed the excess underneath the strap, but it's kind of bulky and i'm hoping it holds.

thoughts?

Don't know how long your straps are, but the straps on mine (have the front and rear versions, which are the same strap length) are the same as seen here https://www.serfas.com/products/view/668/

When fitting seatstays, there isn't any excess flapping around (other than the 3-4mm section of the pull tap of the silicon strap), and when fitting the front light to fork blades, on a carbon fork, with a bit of a blade, it will only fit just above the dropout, no chance of fitting higher up, same for handlebars, it's tight when fitting onto a 31.8mm section, but no issues with a 22-25.4mm section.
