used Fatbikes on Craigslist

boy there sure is a big range in prices. hardly anyone lists the bike size, meaning medium or large, etc. there's one that's a single speed, that's gotta be brutal. there are some very high end aka expensive units aka over $1K, a bunch in the $500 range give or take a cpl hundred, mostly over. but there are a few priced real low, like only $100-$200. those must be frauds or box store bikes or kids sizes

fairly typical for CL IMHO. I see the same bikes a year later because no one buys them at the price.

Fatbikes are a new segment, so not many used options. adn the technology is still developing, so used ones likely are way inferior (170mm QR, no tubeless rims etc.). I ended up buying the Sturgis NX from BD and that was several hundred $ cheaper as a new bike than what people asked for used Fatboy etc. that only had 1x10 drivetrain and QR, and cup/cone bearings (and who knows what they went through, fatbikes tend to get dragged through terrible terrain). not even talking about the fact that even if you find a good deal, it likely is not the size you want.

Really depends on the location.

I live in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Used fat bikes are plentiful here, and there are many good deals. People almost always list the size, but if they don't, you can text, call or email them. Facebook sites here are actually better for bikes than CL.

Those are decent prices, but your could do a bit better, especially if you find something you like and let it sit fallow a bit before making an offer. You can get a used intro Fatbike (Moto, Framed, etc) for $500-$600, a very good mid range in quality for $1,000 (Salsa, Surly, etc.). Carbon frames and wheelset bikes can be had for $1500--$2000.

Yeah, I bought new because I couldn't find anything on CL. Lots of cheap big box store bikes (half with gas motors attached), some years old beat up stuff asking nearly new prices, and anything decent and priced reasonable was snapped up in hours of posting. As someone above alluded to, they just aren't common enough in most locales to have a good used market.

You shouldn't need gas money if you have a bike
