Weight loss and old bikes
Just checking in, I'm a newbie here, but loving the forum. I want to brag about two things, first I've been able to lose about 20 lbs since December 2016, and keeping it off so far. I have two vintage rides, my 1964 Legnano, which I've had since new as a junior racer. The "before" picture is with the Legnano at around 232 lbs. I just finished restoring another classic, a 1973 Raleigh Super Course, which is my "After", during (?) weight loss picture at around 210 lbs. I have a long ways to go, hoping to get below 200 one day soon. Both bikes are a joy to ride, even more so at 20 lbs. lighter. After hanging up the bikes for 30 or so years, I started riding as the millennium approached and I was turning 50. I am now retired, 67 years old and doing just under 5000 miles a year here in sunny California. I've had some heart rate issues, and after several tests, found that I have a "mild" heart valve problem that will need work one day. Now with a beta blocker, and losing the weight, I'm back on the bike again, and enjoying the rides.

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes and a few new ones
Great pics, great bikes, and great story. Very cool.
We do need better close ups of the bikes though.

Looking good. Sure you feel better minus the 20lbs.
I'm about where you are in the before, with a little less facial hair.

The two pictures look like completely different persons. I'll bet you feel much better.

Good job. It can be helpful to think of five pound bags of sugar when considering weight loss. You've lost four bags of sugar - that was quite a lot to be carrying around. I still have a bag of winter weight to get rid of this Spring.
I'm 67 too and at one time hit 210. About 190 now and planning to get back down to 185 or less this cycling season. (Midwest winter screws with my cycling.)
Wondering how you went forward in time to 'December 2017' ?

Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter
So how does that time machine work? Does this mean it will all be back on 7 months from now?
Good work, hope you can save even more off as you go back to the future.

Inspiring story and nice bikes. People give me a hard time about my '70s and '80s Treks that I like to ride and always want to know when I'm going to finally buy something new (that's not a tandem). I'll just point them to your bikes and tell them that mine are new, relatively speaking.

Thanks for posting. I see we have similar tastes in bikes (see signature). I ride "classics" exclusively -- I guess even my Schwinn mountain bike now qualifies.
I am also a big fan of barcons.

No need for an apology. Typos sometimes make for the most entertaining posts here on BF.

Congrats on the weight, that 22 lb loss makes you look looks like a new man. The facial hair needs to grow some.
Did you know that classic folks ride classic bikes?
