New Seat Post Rack

I just got an Arkel Randonneur seat post rack for some light packing on my road bike. I have another seat post rack but I wasn’t happy about it’s stability and attachment. The Arkel attaches to the saddle rails and seat post for better stability. It very easy to install and remove.

It appears I can use one of my existing bags which has extendable side pouches if needed. This gives me the ability to do some overnight hotel stays using my road bike.

I was using my gravel bike with a rear rack along with road wheels. This setup is a few pounds lighter.

3 point attachment for stability. I’m using the extenders since I have enough seat post exposed above the clamp.

No compression around the carbon seat post.

I normally don’t using the side pouches fully extended but I could with this rack.

I can use half the side pouches in this configuration.

Nice clean look

Very nice.

What is the weight rating on that?

Interesting .... aside from the paint, it looks like my bike. And Anything made by Arkel is first-rate. (though that is 8000, isn't it.)

I like how high it appears to ride. Less wind resistance up closer to your body I think. Sometimes I feel like mine acts like a bit of a parachute

A little over 13 lbs, which is plenty more than I’d need for brief stays.

Yes it is. No worries about using a carbon seat post with this rack the way it attaches. There is very limited pressure on the seat post. You would not want to attach the clamp on the saddle to carbon seat rails however. I actually had to swap out saddles as the other saddle that was on this bike had carbon rail segments right where it clamped.

Arkel provides you with two clamps. One for wider seat rails and then the one I have on it. It does not work with saddles with springs.
