Get the bike cave finished and organized
Master riding rollers
Better time management so I can ride enough miles and get enough guitar time while still taking care of life responsibilities
Ride at least one proper English century this year, because I rode my first one in 1975. Alas, this time around I won't wind up with a cool L.A.W. patch, but I suspect that will be okay.

My goals for last year were to lose weight, and get into shape. I lost 25 pounds, and was able to get into good enough shape to get some high results in a number of Strava segments. Strava is popular here in Japan, and people here seem competitive, trying to put their names as high as possible.
My goal for 2025 is to compete in the Tour Divide in North America, the grand depart is 6 months away I’ve got the bike and the gear, I still need to work out the travel details. If I can stay healthy, I should be fit enough to compete, or at least finish within 30 days.

Uh-oh. Hell, you might be right. Dammit. I've imagined that I might be able to ride RAMROD again. First week in September, the new, not so good date. But it's further away than July and won't be hot. And the new, reverse direction route has the serious climbing done way sooner. I'd have a good chance at being bib #1, which is the attraction. A downside is that we'd have to do our 10-day backpack in August, hotter and insects. OTOH, it'd be great training for RR.

terrymorse IF I'm feeling strong in July, I'll let you know. it looks like a fun week; hill climb, road race, a TT, and a gravel race. Seems they welcome race rookies with a Division 3, and very reasonable pricing too.

In the spirit of terrymorse 's 2024 Year in Review thread, I thought that I'd start one for 2025 goals.
What are yours?
I'll start...
I was picked in the lottery to participate in the Unbound Gravel 100 mile race. So I'll be heading to Emporia, Kansas at the end of May, hopefully with a lot of miles in my legs.
My partner and I are also discussing domestic bike tours for the summer.

Goal is a century. And now that I have made it public…. Longest ride was two years ago at 86 (miles, not years)

My goal, to enjoy the open road on my classic racers. Did my century some years back, solo on an ‘85 Trek 460 racer. Found out I’m not into long miles, does not fit my body type. This year? Maybe a 60mi trip or two.

I turn 70 today and just want to get back on the trainer even with bursitis in my hip. I want to be ready for outdoors again in the spring.
My goal as always is to ride 100 miles per week, either lots of shorter rides or with long rides mixed in. Any more than 100 is an extra bonus but I never felt it necessary. It was a lot easier to do when my commute was 20 miles R/T 3 days a week.

ensure you have the proper gearing
if you have a double - compact crank with a 34t small ring is good - but something like a GRX crank (or similar) with a 30 or 31t small ring would be better … pair with a cassette with 34 or 36t cog … could also go to a cassette with 40t - but might need to switch RD and/or RD hanger extension
should be ok if you have a triple … (although there are some triples that do not provide a low gear - drives me crazy) …
1x can also work with the appropriate chainring and cassette

You mean the infamous Chilly Hilly? I have ridden it several times but not recently. In my younger years, i used to be a foul weather warrior. Now that I am old and soft, I would prefer not to ride it in the rain or at 30*. I will go for it either this spring or summer - you should too.

Hi all,
My primary goal for 2025 is to complete at least one 200k brevet in a RUSA-sanctioned ride.

Bikes: A bunch of old bikes and a few new ones
My goals are pretty simple:
(1) build one old bike to ride (probably a 1970s Reynolds 531 Libertas I have hanging on a hook) and sell a few old bikes;
(2) ride a century plus ride by doing a ride around a lake north of where I live that I can do almost the entire ride on a MUP (new path was just built so time to explore it); and
(3) do a handful (at least 4) metric centuries.

I want to do a simulated 24 hour time trial. I was going to do Sebring 24, but my daughter is getting married that weekend. I'll be a little busy. So I plan to do a simulated Sebring 24 right by my house. I have a 5 mile right turn only loop I can do. I'll set up my car and shade tent outside my driveway with all my needs except that I'll use my bathrooms for "those needs." I don't need my neighbors knowing what I'm doing in that privacy tent in my front yard. My goal is 300 miles, but I'd be content with at least 250 miles.
I want to do a 600km brevet in the fall. This may be a challenge as there aren't too many 600km brevets in the fall on the RUSA website. Most are in the spring, and I won't be ready to do one at that point.
I'm considering doing the one day option for Seattle to Portland.

I'm thinking about doing this: Haute Route 2025
7 days in the French Alps, over 60,000 feet of climbing. I have 7 months to get ready.
