Short pants, green shirt, and no necktie. Nice shoes, though.

Bikes: Eddy Merckx SXM, LeMond Buenos Aires, Cannondale Road Warrior 1000 plus a couple of comforts (Specialized Crossroads and Giant Cyprus) and a beater mtb for around town.

I appreciate all of your advice and concern for my knees and the poor fit of my bike. You are probably right to be concerned. I am only able to manage about 6-7 rides a week of 30-60 miles each at an average of 17-18 mph. Last year I didn't even make my 6,000 goal (fell 135 miles short) and will be lucky to make 4,000 miles by the end of June this year. My orthopod is quite happy with my progress since knee replacement two years ago and credits biking with much of my recovery (I probably need a new doc). I'm about 5'9'' and ride a 56 cm bike (the complete limit of my standover) so I may need to abandon the Buenos Aires and find something better for me. I take no anti pain or anti inflammatory drugs and have been able to abandon BP meds. Now I am working on getting off the cholesterol stuff. At 65, I was pretty happy with my riding and medical condition until I read the forum, now I am all worried. Thanks for bringing all of this to my attention.

If you are in the DC area, Bobby C and I invite you to the weekend ride on the hills around Poolesville and Sugarloaf--last one back buys the pie or beer...or both......

Perhaps the white portion is a way for the manufacturer to save money. First they coat the frame with a white primer, and then they paint part of the frame red.

Maybe that LeMond Min/Max frame is painted white on the Max and red on the Min

56cm is usually the right size for someone who is 5'9". 58cm would be on the large size for that height, unless you have unusually long legs. However, Lemond does not make Buenos Aires in a size 56. They make 55 & 57.

But your performance stats don't prove you've got the knee angle correct. Although they certainly are impressive!

I doubt that, but I don't doubt that you have a point about my sitting too low (on my 55 cm--blush--bike). I think I'll raise the seat 2-4 mm at a clip and see what happens. First raise did not seem to make any difference that I could tell, so I'll just keep it up until I can't reach the pedals anymore--or until this old frame can't get to the seat.

If this works, I'll credit you with a good suggestion. If it doesn't, I blame you for all my ills--like forgetting my shoes.......
