Thank you all for your service. We should say it more than once a year. I came very close to joining the army, even took the physical, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

1958 to 1962, 101st Airborne. 29 jumps. I got out 1 month before they jumped into Viet Nam. That's another story, a bad one.

Used to be one of the best duty stations in the world. Most stuff moved back to the States now. Also the population surrounding the base has grown enormously. Lots of traffic etc. Not the place it used to be (for better or worse). Stationed there 81-83; went back in 2005 - hardly recognized the place at first.

I can't raise my hand since I never served in the military. But I will raise my hand for my father and his three brothers who served in WWII, my two uncles who served in the Korean War, my brother-in-law who served in Vietnam and my nephew and two son-in-laws who served in Desert Storm.

Several other family members (women included) have served in our military during peace times and a few who are in the military now.
