Couldn't resist the 50°+ temps here again today so I got my Diverge up outa the basement, pumped tires up to a comfortable PSI & set out for a few miles (6.6 in all) on the sandy, wet streets here in town.
36 minutes was enough for my First Day Out in 2026, as much because it was late in the afternoon by the time I got started as because in those miles I accrued 350+' of elevation. (Hills abound here!) Admitting I haven't been as actively pursuing yearly mileage on my trainer this year I didn't want to push too hard. It's gonna be even warmer tomorrow so I'm planning to ride to work, ride to lunch, ride home if I can get away before the sun sets @ 5:30. Point is to ride, right! May be a while before I can get back outside, weather like this won't last long this time of year! |

Back once the two stents had been placed in my chest late in March of '06 my cardiologist told be there's nothing wrong with caffein. He admitted to a Coca Cola habit, which we shared at the time but which I've since managed to get shut of. But he was adamant that BEER wasn't at all A Good Thing for me... go figure. I never liked beer much but after moving up into Wisconsin I've become rather fond of a brew out of the upper UP of Michigan, called Two Hearted IPA. I like coffee too. Dark. Fresh brewed. I buy beans out of a roaster in Madison, their product is called Revolution. Grind beans every morning, take ground beans to work for the Keurig machine they bought for the break room. 20 years after those stents got fitted I feel like I'm in the best shape I've ever been. Working part-time in a hardware store keeps me active, riding my bikes keeps me aware of what I want the rest of my life to be like. It's all good. |
No pics, but I rode 4-1/2 miles today after church and watching the Pebble Beach golf tournament and a short snooze. Was tired after 2 evenings of square dancing involving a 2 hour drive each way.

best of both
I rode for 23.9 miles today. My first 16.5 miles was just out chasing miles, the remainder of the miles was over to the senior center, where I took a yoga class and then played dominoes.[/QUOTEY
You did the best of both worlds! The physical and the mental. cycling/dominoes. |
Another warm day - 52F! Rode for about 1:50.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...cbd355e293.jpg Route plans were altered early in the ride. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9cb71ecef5.jpg The long shadows of winter riding. Makes it feel like the ride is longer than it is. Or maybe that's the cold and snow ;) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2de6d39f5a.jpg Almost rode right past these deer. |
I got out early today at 8:30 am after waking up at 8:00 am. I wanted to get out early before the winds picked up as they were supposed to be 20mph. I got 18 miles today. I left the house with the temp at about 60 f degrees wearing short sleeves but by the time I made it around to the front of the

Another 50F day! Got in about 1:45 on some streets and trails I don't ride much, mainly because it's a lot of commercial/industrial with a lot of stop lights, but I wanted to start into the wind.
https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5d25e7ffe4.jpg I followed the sign's instruction https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...686a0b597f.jpg I found some (about 3 miles from the sign ;)) |
Got out for a loop around the lake. 6 miles in 70° sunshine.
I have been fighting a cold and it felt great to get out to play! |
I left the house and rode for 18 miles this morning, then I added another 6 miles by going to the senior center and home.

You did the best of both worlds! The physical and the mental. cycling/dominoes.
It reminds me of being a kid and going to summer camp, time well spent. I got out this morning for a ride and found 22. 4 miles. I was tired when I woke up and had to tell myself if I didn't get out and ride I wouldn't reach my goal this week. So I rode and was happy to get the ride. Btw, I saw 2 gators in the lake below this morning. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...72d65d1903.jpg |
I got out and rode today for 19.5 miles. I exceeded my goal of 100 miles this week by 1 mile.

I haven’t been posting but I wanted to say I am very impressed with your consistency. I’m still here in wintry MA and have been resigned to indoor cycling and that doesn’t look like that will change any time soon. I am getting away someplace warm for a couple of weeks soon. Been riding indoors 2-3 times a week 15-18 miles a session. Enjoy your time away.

Just over an hour. 17F (35 degrees colder than Monday) with 13mph winds.

I gotta hand it to some of you, you've more bravado than I. Rode 4.5 miles today in 22 mph steady winds. Gusts blew me a foot off line a couple of times. I'm glad I did it, because it's been a week since I rode, but I'm looking forward to Spring, and better conditions.

Getting back up to speed after some health issues earlier this year that made taking deep breaths tough.
Rode my Diverge to work & back on Monday & Wednesday, then Mother Nature changed the tune & brought us 9" of heavy, wet snow Thursday night. So I warmed up clearing enough of the driveway to get to the street so I could work my afternoon shift, which put me in the mood to do my first real Rouvy ride for the year. Had to cut it short so I could grab some lunch, but it was good for 10+ miles in a little more than half an hour, 597' elevation. Yesterday got back on track with just under 10 miles again in half an hour but on a flat route through the Everglades. Today I did a double header: just shy of 9 miles in just short of half an hour, another route in the 'Glades, followed by a more ambitious 11+ mile route in Bar Harbor Main in three quarters of an hour & 764' elev. Weather was decent for all that... I had a fan running 9' in front of my head & it didn't rain! I too am anxiously anticipating a return to outdoor riding activities this year.... |
you rocked it spclark!! You have weather, which others can only imagine! Keep it up! I think we are all here to encourage each other. As well as see the crazy rides and possibilities.

I did ride today and had the most pleasurable ride in a long time! I rained all last week in the Menlo Park CA area. I got in one ride after the rain. Today I just wanted to ride the coast. there is a Multi-use-trail in Half Moon Bay that I have ridden often. I decided to ride this route but add the north end which I have never even saw before. it was amazing. Pillar Point (which is an Air Force radar location based on the posted signs) Funny I worked down the hill for a minute, never rode there. it was so beautiful. lots of nice hikers, walkers and riders.
I rode my Creo 2, so that is a pedal assist type bike for the unfamiliar. I have ridden 75% if this route with my Ibis Exie, but I knew I was in an adventurer mode today so needed a little backup. And I was riding solo. so having friends push as backup was not in the mix. That said..,My ride today was perfect! Even dodging the tourists on the MUTs. My goal was about a 3 hour ride, no set distance. I was out for 4hrs. a few stops. 30 miles. And absolutely stunning scenery. Mission accomplished. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...6a1793c7b.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...5f71cf141.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...49d4ad961.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3da1238b1.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...cb45c51be.jpeg |
Nice pics letrebici! Nice terrain too, nice ride as well!
30 miles is about the longest ride I've managed since I returned myself to road biking a couple of years ago. Available time (as well as endurance) is what limits me most when I'm out to ride. I can come here and indulge my imagination for the longer stuff!! |
