It's been over a week since I've ridden outside. I'm going to ride this afternoon despite the 40mph winds.

Unless I wimp out. Which I won't.

Probably.

For the last week the temperature has hovered between -20F and -40. The wood smoke and other stuff produced by too many people and trapped by the temperature inversion has caused an Air Quality Alert. Ride? Not on a bet.

Yes- the rain stopped!!! Got out today for the first time in a week. Only did 23 miles, but it felt so, so god to be on my bike again. DH got so tired of hearing me moan about the weather that he bought me a Kinetic Road Machine for Xmas. Looks like LA may get even more rain by the weekend, so I may be "riding" on my covered deck some of the time.

One last day wasted at work. Now I'm off until 1/4/11! Hope to get in a few good rides during that time.

15 mile easy coffee shop ride. Roads are dry and tomorrow should hit 60 or so. We're saving ourselves for tomorrow's 30 mile suffer-fest (3000' of climbing in the first 15 miles).

30 miles on the bike trail, finally a day with no rain. Took it easy, plenty of debris and wet pavement in the shady areas.

Way to go, Pam! And congratulations on the trainer. Next time we ride together, I'll have to work hard to keep pace with you.

I planned to ride today but hardly slept last night. Maybe tomorrow....

Got out this afternoon on the closed BRP for a 1 hour hill climb on my MTB. I turned around when snow covered the road at around 5400' in elevation.

Had a nice 2-hour ride of 30 miles this morning under a clear blue sky with snow on the mountains. Everywhere I went I saw folks on bikes - it was a great day in the low 60s.

Well, we strapped a new "pogo stick" to the rear rack of my bike and headed off to the Grandaughters, it never got near the 48 F, the weather guessers said it would, (burrrrrrrrr), still our faithful road hybrids glided thru the cold, with the lights blinking white and red, (where did all this FOG come from!!!!), we delivered the presents to the Grandaughter and wished her a Merry Christmas! Then headed to the LBS, where I got a nice set of "full fenders" put on the Wife's bike, (got them with funds given to ME for ME for Christmas, gota get in the points, whenever possible!) after finding a nice set of upgrade, "new to me wheels" for my road hybrid and putting them on layaway, we headed out for hot coco and a excellent cherry dainish! We made our way home, then walked down to the local book store to let her spend her gift card and had a really great burger and fries at the Black Bear Cafe, I just LOVE a BROWN Christmas!! Happy Holidays! BTW, 20 miles total.

Why I love a brown Christmas

Here's why I LOVE a "brown Christmas" in Colorado Springs!

Just a really nice (but chilly), SUNNY Christmas Day in Colorado Springs, CO. The 1st. photo is on the foothills trail to to Garden of the Gods. The 2nd. and 3rd. is just US and our "road hybrids" at the Mesa Street Lookout Point, with the Kissing Camels and Pikes Peak in the background. Happy Holidays!

16 days OTB, finally got in 37 miles. Rio Hondo and San Gabriel actually had water in them with all flood gates open, drying basins full and water behind the Santa Fe and Whittier Narrows dams. Sunny and around 60 degrees. Felt good.

They say we will be getting 12" - 16" of snow by Mon morning here in the northeast, so I figured I'd get one last ride in this morning. Took the mtbike to a local park to ride some single track and then followed an old farm road into a big parcel of scruffy woods that the atv folks & developers are ripping up. There's a bunch of swamps & big pot holes of water that are nicely frozen so I had a fun time making first tracks on the dusting of snow.

I rode Friday (26 miles) and Saturday (32 miles), and so, after much deliberation, decided to sleep in today and see what the weather was doing whenever I got up. Well, it's snowing like crazy, duh! Just like the weatherman predicted. So I will not be riding today, and, if the weatherman's other predictions are correct, possibly not again until the new year.

...though Imma try to get out Wednesday and Friday just to piss off all the folks who claim the cycling year is over.

2 and 1/2 hours riding the mtb on the local trails. Miscalculated the temp and took the Camelbak for water. The hose was frozen after 30 minutes in the 23 degree temps. The park was a winter wonderland with 2" of new snow covering the frozen packed down snow on the trails making it very slippery in places where it was not expected. I am beat, but had a fun ride, and burned off some of yesterday's excess calories.

105 miles @ 14mph in stiff winds. Solo. Temps in the upper 60s early-low 70s mid-day. I got talked out of doing it yesterday, which was dead still, windwise. I'm still walking. But I have no desire to saddle up again at least until morning.

Cloudy and in the high 50s today, but almost everywhere I rode today, hardly a cyclist in sight. An easy 44 miles out to Santa Fe canyon and around the dam for me.

The rain and my cold have both abated so we got in an easy 15 mile ride onthe tandem. No long rides between now and Saturday's Borrego Springs Century
