I enjoyed a lazy morning and didn't get started riding until after 11am. 32 miles down, 18 to go. I am taking an extended rest stop at home. Current temp is 93, heat index 99. I don't think it will be getting cooler in the next hour or two.

Got an eventful 45 miler done today. The forest fire smoke is thick in North Florida this month and it was an easy 92+ with a headwind to boot for the last 22 miles.
One of the more uncomfortable rear flat tires as well..right by the side of the bleakest stretch of road, full sun hot, hot. Got it changed in about 6 minutes.

Nice at the end point in St Aug...a couple of shots from the bridge, my route takes me over the bridge, up the east side of the waterway about 25 miles and back.

My wife and I went out with the intent to ride around 20 miles up on the BRP today but storms came in about 4 miles out. So we turned around and rode down the mountain in a downpour. I usually don't mind getting caught out in the rain but lightning is another issue. Temps were comfy in the low 60s.

It is so hot in Florida lately I am lucky to see 60 in my refrigerator!

My brother is in Brevard right now hoping to do some riding in the next few days..said it was nice in the mornings.

Bikes: Many

I went with a small group for a beautiful 45 miles following a series of streams from Walpole NH to Lempster and back. We started early and rode side-by-side most of the way. We endure some harsh weather in these parts. Today was the pay-off.

No. Nothing but rain here, all weekend, including a monster gully-washer here at the house yesterday. The sump pit sounded like someone was standing there, pouring water into it through a hose.

It should be nice in the morning but we're expecting another mini heatwave the next couple days with temps in the 90s. He should ride up on the BRP where it will be much cooler.

I wasted away the morning, finally getting on the road a little after 11. After a 32 mile ride through Haddock, I came in from the heat to refill the bottles and eat a snack. Almost an hour later I got back out for another 18 miles towards Ivey on the Fall Line Fwy. I took this picture from a bridge on the Fall Line Fwy overlooking a dirt road I rode on yesterday. Very hot today, but a nice ride. 95F and 101 heat index when I finished. My crazy idea of a relaxing Father's Day.

Not a complete washout this weekend, at least not on the South side of town. Morning club ride was rained out, at least by my standards, both days, but I was able to get in rides between rain both days. 24 miles Saturday and 13 miles today. Got some bike maintenance in, too.

Went riding with my wife and her brand new recumbent tadpole trike. I was hoping to do 30-40 miles but she was having problems with the difference between this trike and her other recumbent trike and also was having problems with clipping in. She ended up doing 14 miles and I ended up doing 26 in 96° heat with a feels like 104 temperature. I don't normally perspire that much and usually end up fairly dry at the end of a ride, but today I was soaked. It was blistering and we started at 7:30 am.

Rode 39 miles with one of my sons this am. He was recovering from a cold and used the ride down (25 miles) and the 39 as an easy recovery ride. We've been wanted to ride together for some time and this was the perfect opportunity. It was a good change of pace for him since he has trouble going easy on his training rides (he's a strong Cat3). That afternoon my DiL and two grandsons came down and we did a cookout. This was a great father's day.

Truthfully, they're very similar. There is something that feels a little bit different when standing. I guess from the taller head tube. The ride of the R5 is a hair harsher than the R3 too. If there's some huge advantage from the BBRight bottom bracket change, I'm not discerning enough to notice

10 miles this morning. Worked on getting my speed up. Reached a top speed of 25mph; held it a little while too. Average speed was still an unimpressive 14.2 mph. But, I guess thats ok for a hybrid road/mtb.

20 miles, 1/2 in cold wind and rain blowing right in my face. I don't consider that fun

Great ride today. Went up GMR (Glendora Mountain Road). Started at the dam above Glendora. It was a foggy 60 degrees at the start and at about 3500 feet I climbed above the clouds for a brilliant, clear 44 mile round trip to Baldy village. When I got back to the car I still felt good so I rode back to the "Shack" for a total of 7500 ft of vertical and total of about 68 miles. Not bad for a Monday.

3rd day in a row for me, and still recovering from a fast & hilly century on Saturday, so today I did a super-easy, super short, super-slow ride with my wife. 17 miles. But did something we haven't done in almost a year: Rode after work instead of before. Hit the road at 7:00PM. Gorgeous high 60s w/ low humidity...if it wasn't for the fact that traffic absolutely SUCKED I think I'd do all my midweek riding at night.
