No, but I rode twice yesterday, does that count?
Did a hard hilly 25 mile ride with my wife in the morning -- her coach suggested a sort of "Uphill Interval" tactic where for the last third of every hill or rise she just goes all-out -- so I got a pretty good workout either chasing her or serving as her rabbit. Then after work I picked up my rain bike from the mechanic, went to a rehearsal around the corner, and then rode ~10 miles home. |
Today’s ride:
Rode to the horse farms with Dick Davidson and Jim Townsend today. Had the usual breakfast at Panera, they don’t even ask me what I want anymore. When they see me coming they just automatically get me a sesame bagel and iced tea. Temps in the low 90s and at one point where we stopped for a rest the bike computer hit 108 degrees. However it was in direct sunlight and on hot pavement. Jim Townsend had the first flat of the group since we have been riding together. Ride statistics for: 06/23/2011 Miles today: 55+ Mileage this month May: 868+ (on track for another 1,000 mile month) Mileage this year: 4789 (69 % of my 2011 goal) Over/under riding days 2011 vs. 2010: +9 Over/under riding days June 2011 vs. June 2010: +2 Over/under miles 2011 vs. 2010: +1466 miles Average miles per ride this month: 51+ Average miles per ride this year: 41+ Number of rides over 50 miles this month/total ride days this mo. 11/17 Metric Centuries this month: 3 Miles needed to hit my 2011 goal of 7,000: 2154, and a 9,000 mile year (would be my best ever) is not out of reach. Should reach my goal by mid September. Tomorrow ??? |
No ride today, it's been raining pretty much all day, ranging from a light PITA type rain, to a driveway destroying deluge, this is the second straight day like this :notamused: seriously wondering if I will make my target for the Month, I was doing so good January-March, moved the training bike outside for April, and watched the weather turn horrible, it hasn't really turned into Summer yet, I had more distance in March alone, then I have had for April, May and June so far. :(

Had a quick 28 mile ride. Recent windy weather dumped whole trees and all kinds of debris on a Forest Preserve bike path. So I hit the road. With the help of a 20 mph tailwind, I hit 32 mph on a flat street and held it for a mile. Good fun.

Disappointing ride today. I did 12.5 miles before the rains came. Our summer thunderstorms usually bring lightning with them and we are the lightning capital of the US. I don't mind getting caught in the rain once in a while, but the lightning is tabu for me.
|
I have been feeling "under the weather" for a few days - no energy, other non-describable problems. Got in a few miles each day, but it was like pulling teeth just creeping aling!!
Hopefully, full recovery in a couple of days. |
After I got home from the 12.5 mile ride, I expected it to rain but nothing ever came of it. After dinner, my wife wanted to go riding on her new bent so we went out and did an 8 mile slow ride around the neighborhood before it got dark. So, for me it was 20.5 miles.

11 miles to the river and back.

Early morning 11 mile ride to the river and back at 14 flat. Getting a little faster.:thumb:

We've had rain every day this week. Haven't been out on the road since Tuesday in between rain storms....wet as it was anyway. I'm jonesin' pretty bad for a fix right now. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice. Maybe I'll do a triple century.
|
Not today! Getting rained out again. The weatherman on the news tonight is saying that there is a 40-50% chance of afternoon thundershowers every day next week. That pretty much means that there is a 100% chance it will rain every day next week. I guess the trainer is going to get a workout next week. I will get out early tomorrow and Sunday morning and ride as much as I can as it normally doesn't rain in the mornings.

I rode 12.7 miles on the Chester Valley Trail near my home. I was trying to get in 17 miles so I would meet my weekly goal of 30 miles, but a thunderstorm rolled in and I decided to call it quits when I heard thunder in the area. I am planning on going riding first thing tomorrow to meet my goal.
My company has a program called "Summer Hours." Basically, you put in a little extra time during Monday through Thursday so you can leave early on Friday. I am participating in this program so I can get in a ride on Friday afternoon. This was the first week when I was able to leave early and go biking. |
Finally got my energy back. It's terrible when you are sort of 1/2 sick and don't know it, and can't figure out why those hills are SO hard. Anyway, I worked out and stretched, rode to the pool, swam 40 minutes and did a quick hilly 15 miles. I've been doing about 110-120 miles per week.

Sunday: a friend and I went out for a 2 hr mtb ride. The mountain laurels were in full bloom and it was like riding through clouds! Just lovely.
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=207961 Tuesday: I caught the Tues night group mtb ride. Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat - rain. |
I rode to work last night, 20 miles, 17MPH average. This morning, I ride back home. I'm going to do a ten mile or so add on. Tomorrow - the track!
|
Went out at 5:30 am for a quickie 20 miler. Saw three deer who were not scared of me in the least, just kept grazing away. Wonderful time to ride - temp was 60F, little wind, overcast. Perfection. Now I am going for a walk with Nora.

Went to my riding park again this morning hoping to get in at least a 40 mile ride as I haven't been able to accomplish that this entire month for one reason or another. It was nice, no sun, overcast and not too hot but extremely humid after last nights heavy rain. Seemed like a great time to get 40 miles in, right? Not! Twenty-two miles into the ride it starts drizzling and then this lightning bolt lit up the sky and I turned around and hauled ass back to the truck and came home. I actually did the quarter lap back to the truck faster than I was doing my regular laps. The trail is one-way for bicycles. I've never seen so many bikes going the wrong way as I did this morning. Maybe tomorrow will be a better riding day or maybe its going to be a trainer day.

A friend and I rode out 9 miles and were caught in a heavy rain. Lots of lightning and the rain was wind driven, hitting hard. Mike desn't use the helmet visor so the rain mixed with sweat and he couldn't see. We turned around and came back. The lightning killed the ride more than anything. I came back to the house and put lots of things in the washer. I'm going to be ready for the next opportunity. Blues Frog

Not too many miles this week - rode to work zero times.
Took a day off yesterday and rode a whopping total of 12 miles. Beautiful weather today - got in 54 miles on a club ride with a few - not too many- hills. |
82 hot ones Thursday
Pre Op Friday 46 hot ones today...Quit at 12 N when the temp on the bike hit 98* http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...sIt82mi007.jpg |
Beautiful day up on the BRP today. We finally got a day near average temps and it feels so cool! Up at elevation I had goosebumps on the descents, perfect temps! 35 miles and near 3500' of climbing in 2:35 ride time. Temp data is way off due to sun on the Garmin. It was never near 70º (probably not above low 60s) until I got back to the car. I felt good today though I can tell I haven't been riding much in the last three weeks.

Today’s ride:
Rode to the horse farms with Jim Townsend today at 7 AM. We rode the Seminole Wekiva Trail to Lake Mary and had the usual breakfast at Panera Bread. The girls that work their don’t even ask me what I want anymore. When they see me coming they just automatically get me a sesame bagel, sliced and toasted, veggie cream cheese and iced tea. From Panera we road north through Heathrow to Orange Ave then North to Wayfield Drive, crossed SR 46 and up to Seminole Heights. It was a little cooler today as opposed to earlier this week so we did manage to see some deer by the side of the road. Temps in the low 80s when we got back about 11:30 and the humidity was still pretty high at 69%. Lots of riders on the trail and the road today even with threatening skies above. We did encounter some light sprinkles but it was welcome as it served to cool us off. Just as I turned off of SR 434 into our complex I felt my back tire shift a little bit, sure enough it was going flat. If you have to have a flat you can’t be in a better place to change it than your patio. Ride statistics for: 06/25/2011 Miles today: 62+ Mileage this month May: 930+ (on track for another 1,000 mile month and a 10,000 mile yr.) Should reach my goal by mid September. Tomorrow: Freewheeler club ride… |
70 miles in perfect weather. Temps were in the 65 to 75f range with almost no wind.
The first 40 miles were at a steady at a 30 km/h rate (19 mph). My riding partner has the ability to hold a steady speed with mechanical precision. I tend to add or lose 5 mph at the slightest trace of a slope. I had a broken rear shifter cable at the 40 mile mark. So my bike became a 2x1 with the 39 or 50t chainring and the 12t cog in the back. I'm a spinner, so my legs felt every turn of the crank while mashing. After 10 miles of grinding away, we stopped at a bike shop and a new cable was installed in about 10 minutes. Still a great ride. I’ve got a group for dinner tonight, I hope I don't fall asleep like somebody's Grandfather. |
28.5 miles this morning.
