Twelve easy miles yesterday evening and then, today, 48 miles including some hills. Today's ride started in Danville, IN and was almost entirely rural. Went through several very small towns.

25.21 miles with the Mrs. on the Tandem! Since it SNOWED yesterday, it made a the local mountains a really pretty backdrop for our ride. :)

Sculptor7 10-09-11 03:55 PM

26 miles in very summery weather.

Church, then wife went to women's group and I went for a bicycle ride, lunch, ride, swim and ride. Temp was exactly 50F, a bit of wind. Great ride, saw some friends walking and had a nice chat.

75 miles today and 75 miles yesterday, give or take a few miles each day. The event: Bike Around the Bay, Galveston Texas. 75 miles is my longest ride so far. Previous long ride was 65 miles. Two days in a row is quite a milestone for me. It was tough; 20 to 30 mph winds both days, pouring rains today. Tweaked my left knee yesterday at the 65 mile mark and it was very painful to finish, but 10 miles wasn't too much to cope with. This morning, I reached mile 8 and my knee was killing me. I thought about sagging out, but despite the pain, I was having fun and did not want to quit. I started to pray, and I'll be danged if my knee didn't start feeling better. It was devine intervention! Or it could be the four Advil I knocked back at the first rest stop. Regardless; I think the prayers helped and I finished the day.

Awesome effort in the rain and wind.

Fixed that for you.

Terrible weekend for riding. Got in 12 miles on Saturday with the local bike club and wanted to do some more with the wife in the afternoon but no such luck. Started raining Saturday evening and continued throughout the night and all day on Sunday. Some places in Central Florida reported as much as 11 inches of rain. I'm going to try and do some riding after work, but I have a feeling that the wilderness park I ride at is going to be under water in several places.

Rode to work today, so I'll wind up with my usual 22 mile round-trip commute.

Spent the weekend visiting my brother-in-law in southern Sullivan County, NY and holy crap did I gain some new respect for rollers! Just did short little rides both days I was there (15 miles Saturday and 10 miles Sunday) but both routes had close to 3,000' elevation gain...100' at a time. I was as wiped out after those rides as I usually am after a 65 mile ride.

Congrats on the ride. :thumb:

I went out today before the rain started -- kind of. Got about 2 miles down the road and ran into sprinkles. The rain got here earlier than I wanted. :notamused: I don't do rain, unless I'm already out and rain pops up, so turned around. My short 4 mile ride included one of the hills I hit on my way out to Stone Mtn. The new bike is awesome. Feels completely different from my Litespeed. A different kind of comfort and I'll have to get used to the compact gearing (50/34 and 11-28, 10 speed cassette). My Litespeed is 53/39 and an 11-23, 9 speed cassette.

Rode Friday (37 miles @ 16.8 ave), Saturday (65 @ 14.8, ABC club ride), and yesterday (44.2 @ 16.9). I felt the best about yesterday's solo ride. it was more or less steady climb for about 20 miles, a bit steeper from mile 13-20. The 16.9 average was the best I had done for it.

Rest day today, then 5k runs for Tues, Wed, and Thurs.

DnvrFox 10-10-11 01:05 PM

20 beautiful miles. Temp was 46F, sunny. Then a swim and lunch with the wife.

Wogster 10-10-11 01:50 PM

No, but I did ride yesterday and the two days before, today is Thanksgiving here in Canada, and there just ended up no time between turkey bastings to get enough time for a ride. Did manage to get the Missus bike into the cellar, I need a hook for it, and the road bike is now on the trainer, even though we are expecting a couple of nice days this week, the MTB is still in the shed, and when I can ride outside, I will ride it. Otherwise I can use the road bike on the trainer.

bjjoondo 10-10-11 03:14 PM

15.93 miles, just a out and about run, needed to get away for a bit from the apartment! :)

avmech 10-10-11 05:22 PM

8.7 easy miles after work

2manybikes 10-10-11 05:42 PM

25 miles with a head wind, with the dog in the trike (100lbs) Saturday.

35 miles on Sunday on my 17 lb road bike. A recovery ride from Saturday.......whew.

I'm going to forget about hill repeats. I'm going to do dog trike repeats. It's just as good and a lot more fun. And the coach is right behind me poking me in the back if I go too slow.

After a lousy weekend, today was a perfect Florida day. Temps in the mid 80's and a mild headwind at the wilderness park. Rode 15 miles after work with several area of the bike trail underwater from all the rain we had this weekend.

Hey John,
Exactly my thoughts. Weekend was a washout but got in a 22.5 mile ride today. Let's hope the rain is done now for a loooooonnnngggg time. :D

Sculptor7 10-11-11 07:22 PM

No. But I rode 26 miles on Sunday and 70 miles yesterday so thought I could afford to take a day off.

JanMM 10-11-11 08:00 PM

Eleven miles on the tandem late this afternoon after work. Beautiful weather.

23.16 miles, doing errands and paying my renters insurance. Also stopped by the LBS to see if they got a "ship date" for my wifes new KHS Vitamin B, fitness hybrid. Finally, it's coming in next Tuesday, just gota hope the weather stays decent so we can get it after the wife get's off work and can take a bus to the shop, so we can ride it home!

Just joined the forums and yes, I road today, 10/11/11--road 20 miles on my Diamondback Edgewood LX, don't laugh. In fact, I had my fastest ride since I started riding in April this year(haven't ridden for 25+ years prior to that)...20 miles in 1hour 11min 23secs(~16.8mph overall avg). Usually I ride 5 to 6 days a week, 20 miles each day, but today was actually my 8th day in a row...definitely taking a day off tomorrow.

Made a post in the Introduction forum, http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...outheastern-Va .
