Back to the spring wind tomorrow. Sigh...

Rode to and from work on the first day of Spring for a 21 mile round trip in perfect weather.
Passed the 500 mile mark for the year today - much, much earlier than my norm.

Got three laps in at the MUP for a 45 mile ride today. Started off with 6-10 mph winds but they picked up quite a bit at the end of the second lap; around 15-20 mph. For whatever reason unknown to me, I just had to do another lap. Winds kept me down to about a 15 mph pace for the entire last 15 miles but I still managed to get the 45 miles done in 3 hr 07 min. Now I'm tired. Need a hot shower and a nap.

Ain't it grand? I'm up to 658, unheard of at this point in past years.

https://app.strava.com/rides/5520076

It was a weird ride today. It was a joint ride by the Southern Indiana Wheelmen and the Louisville Bike Club. I have dual citizenship so I ride with whatever group serves my whims. The LBS riders, mostly B level, blasted out ahead of schedule and I went out with the SIW, mostly C riders.

Just a few miles down the road the SIW overtook the LBC, who were clearly dogging it for some reason. It turns out that the LBC wanted to go off course to see the tornado damage, as it more or less had flattened the town of Henryville. The ride captain was not happy about it at all.

Even on the route, at one point I saw someone's roof sitting one top of a huge tree. I wish I had stopped and took a picture of it, although I doubt anyone is going to try to get it down anytime soon. Maybe they'll wait for the next tornado to blow it down.

Anyway, gorgeous day. 36 miles, generally bent friendly.

Got in 80 miles today, it was a great day and the wind was not much of a factor today. Notice the different mies from Strava to Garmin.

Got in a short ride up a local climb during my daughter's gymnastics practice this afternoon. Perfect afternoon for a ride but the climb kicked my butt. lol Steady grades at 12% are hard! My HR strap kept losing contact as I lay over the front of the bike on the climb.

I rode Mon., Tues., and Wed. and am happy for that, as well as for DST, despite my hatred of messing with time. Which is artificial to begin with. No discussion needed. I get it.

I extended my ride home from work a bit, and clicked over 2000 miles for the year so far. With this great winter weather, I'm outpacing any year I'm ever had since I started riding again.

I wasn't going to ride today but I put the aerobars, that have been sitting in the closet since last Father's Day, on the Colnago and just had to try them out. The bars are for the upcoming MS 150 so I have more options on riding positions during the century part of the ride. I got in a 15 mile ride at the wilderness MUP, but it didn't go well with the aerobars. I didn't do too good on going from the hoods to the aeros and back. If a ranger had seen me, I would have been stopped for riding under the influence. Once on the aeros, it wasn't bad, but there were times I was going from one side of the road to the other. Definitely need more practice.

Actually, got the call from the LBS saying the new bike is ready. Yes, that's right--I finally pulled the trigger. The LBS had me fitted and said I need to go for 7 mile+ ride to test her out. I went probably 8 or 9. Then after adding lights, bags, etc. I rode another 4 or 5. I then was trying to figure out why the cycle computer was having issues, so I probably went another 4 or 5 miles....so, in total with the 23½ this morning, I got a good 39 miles in total today.

Did my daily 30 mile ride at the wilderness park. It was a nice ride today, especially for viewing wildlife; 6 turkeys, a fairly large gray fox and a nice size doe and two fawns crossing the bike path at various different places. I saw the doe and the fawns on the side of the path getting ready to cross so I stopped and waited for them to do so. After the second fawn crossed the path, I decided to wait a minute and it paid off. The daddy buck slowly walked out of the woods, got to the path and then saw me and darted for the other side. I couldn't count all the spikes, but it looked to be at least a 10 point rack. Two other cyclist stopped, thinking something was wrong, and asked why I was stopped in the middle of the road. It was the first time they had seen a buck in that park since they have been going there. The wild turkeys are a pretty common site and you occasionally see a doe every now and then, but seeing a fox is rare as is seeing a buck. It's only the second buck I have seen there in the two years I've been riding at the park.

I tried to pay both you and your bike a compliment, and now everyone thinks I'm gay.

There's nothing wrong with that.

I waffled about putting the link there; the link is more for others so they can see the post, than for you. As for being gay(not that there's anything wrong with that), I was never under the impression you were. I thank you for the compliment you paid to the bike and to me. Thanks.

Rode early this morning at my usual riding place for a nice 30 mile ride. MUP was very crowded and lots of children on my second lap, so speeds weren't exactly blazing in certain areas. I'll probably take the hybrid there tomorrow and do a slow, 15 mile ride with the wife as I have an 80+ mile ride scheduled for Monday.

24 miles on a club ride in the flatlands of Johnson County. Interestingly, the ride leaders found on checking the route in the last couple of weeks that nefarious vandals had blacked out some of the Dan Henry's, altered others and added new ones. Plus, they had written a hateful, anti-biking message on the road at one spot. The ride leaders shared this at the start, warning us not to be fooled by the markings and to use the maps - they have been in contact with county sheriff and state police and understood that someone has been arrested. We'll see how this turns out.

30 miles yesterday 27 today. Today was a personal best at 27 at 3 hours total. Computer showed 11.3 average. That was on the 38 lb touring bike. Achieved 15 mph for several hundred feet. Recovered quickly and did it 2 more times

No Pie! Went to Georges Market for organically grown veggies and range fed chicken.

Ordered new front rack for touring bike. Found out carrying 12 lbs worth of tent stuff on my back for 45 miles is not working.

Saw 7 other bikers today going the other way. Got yelled at twice.

Dusting off the road bike for tomorrow

34 miles today. It was 60s and I thought it was cold. Talk about getting spoiled.

The redbuds are already blooming. I hope that doesn't take some of the thrill away from the Redbud Ride.

I bought a pair of M324s with the SH 56 cleats to see if it would help my confidence with steep climbs. However, I did not find any steep climbs out there today. I remember Hawley-Gibson Road being almost vertical the last time I rode it, 4 years ago. It was pretty tame today.

Very windy today. We rode the tandem to a breakfast spot upwind, 55 minutes. Returned from the breakfast spot downwind, less than 25 minutes. We would have been faster on the return, but I've had to block our our large chainring and we spin out at 28 mph.
