Rode 40 miles on Thursday...15 before work and 25 after. I now have 815 miles for the month of August.
Shooting for 1000 miles. Wish me luck. |
44 miles that went well until the last 8-10 when the heat started to make itself felt.

Just done my first century! Started out innocently enough this morning with a quick jaunt to one of my favorite coffee stops (13 miles). Then I thought of doing an interesting back road that was right around the corner. Rural road with not much traffic, so it was perfect. Another rural road that I thought connected to a major road, but I miscalculated and it didn't until much longer than I'd anticipated. Before I knew it, the odo read 55 miles and I said to myself, "What the hell, I'm in so deep as it is, why not go for a century?" So I did. I mapped out a route in my mind and went for it. Got home, but was about 2 miles short, so I rode around the neighborhood in order to rack up an honest 100 miles. Perfect weather conditions and cars gave me wide berth, even on sections with nothing but the skinny white line and the ditch immediately next to it.

Got in 34.5 miles in this morning's ride. They are letting anyone who doesn't want to ride through the flooded loop path, at the creek, turn around and ride in the opposite direction. The loop is normally one-way but going around to the other end of the creek adds an extra two miles to the lap. It also makes it look like you are riding in a different place because you aren't used to seeing things going in that direction.

Rode 30 tonight, our Friday hill climb out of Philly. Rode solo today so I treated it like a time trial (even though I'm old and fat), scored a few PRs and had a good ride. Check out the strava data if you're interested, I really love that site.

Just a short 7.5 km ride to check out the MEC store for bags for the bike. Long ride tomorrow or Sunday.....Karen

Got in 35 miles but had to share part of the MUP with a local mini Tri event hosted by the local Y. On the way home they tried to stop me from going the last 3 miles that ends up near my home and divert me back. These volunteers thought they were the police but I just smiled, simply stated I'm going home and kept on riding. About a mile up they have a parking lot with I guess a checkpoint and when I came through they started clapping. Thought I was finishing up. Smiled again and pointed to my jersey that did not have a number.

Got in a nice 31 miles this morning with some real nice cycling weather for this time of year in Florida. MUP was very crowded with runners and cyclists but the good news is that it pretty much dried out and the creek and service roads are now open. Bad news is that Isaac is going to dump a s**t load of rain on us tomorrow and Monday. Bill, he should be knocking on door by Tuesday.

14 miles with the wife, there was suppose to be the final fun ride of the USA Pro Cycling Championships, of which Co. Springs was the Stage 5 finish on Friday, the 24th. Only a few riders showed up and the leader was on a MTB so we rode with them till the path changed to dirt and we took off back home. Got company at 6 tonight so we didn't return for the "ride ending party".

40.6 miles and then 3.6 miles of cool down this early AM.
|
45 miles Friday, 30 miles yesterday and 26 miles today. That's the most i've done in such a short time. I have never ridden 3 days in a row before and I feel great.

Got a good 30 mile, post Isaac touchdown ride this morning. Nice temps in the upper 70's, overcast skies and no real wind on the first 20 miles. Then the winds came and, at times, it was all I could do to keep the bike on the path. Not sure I'll be getting in any riding in the next two to three days.

26 miles and 1200' of climbing n the river loop from town early this morning.
|
Cut off at 30 miles this morning as I was expecting to ride with the wife this afternoon for another 20. But had car problems with the convertible top and ended fussing with it most of the afternoon till I realized it needs to go to my mechanic before I screw it up more.

7 miles. Took on the big hill. Yawn. I used to have to stop half way. Now, I just power to the top. Took the "long" way back. At least I did it. Every day this week except Friday/Saturday. I'll keep posting just to keep pressure on myself. thanks to you that have to suffer through this. :)

41 hard miles today. When I was 22 miles out I was tired, hot, and discouraged. I wanted someone to get me. My wife is in Nashville, my daughter can't drive, and I didn't want to call anyone outside the family because The Shame.
I stopped at the Country Panty store, ate a Little Debbie cinnamon roll, and felt a surge power coursing through my veins. I climbed out of the Salt River valley and made it home. Now everything from the waist down hurts. It was a great ride. |
