Got in 32 miles and then my beautiful wife (who I just bought a Specialized Dolce) and I rode another 11 miles as she slowly builds up some stamina.

Rode the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire today(R / T 68 miles). So now I can say I've done a 'metric century.'

Tonight's ride with my friend Michele was a blast. We did a rail trail, road, dirt road, atv track, single track, and even a little stretch on a sidewalk, mtb ride. |

Nice. How is the Kanc for biking, other than up and down and up and down and up and down with an occasional loop-de-loop thrown in?
One guy actually stopped and asked about the trip because he wanted to do it with his son. Another one in a stopped car at a road construction wished me luck (lol). On the way back (and for those familiar with the road, just before the hairpin turn) I heard "On your left" and much to my astonishment a guy wizzed by me like I was standing still. Absolutely amazing. I didn't get a good look at him, but he appeared to be in his 30s, definitely had a fit build and he didn't lose steam. I was hoping to talk to him at a scenic turnout, but he was long gone. I'm 54, but I just startred riding a month ago, so I'm not complaining. |
Put in a quick 13 miles this evening with a stop at the gym for some weight training. Muscles feel pretty good after the 3/4 century on Sunday. :D

32 miles on a gorgeous late summer evening. Twas a 24 mile club ride and 8 to and from the start. I've just returned to club riding - it was only my 3rd this year - and I can hardly describe how happy it makes me. It was an urban ride with a very social group that mostly stays together, but on stretches where speed is possible, there are lots of friendly sprints. I rode much harder than I should have given my afflicted hips, but I couldn't resist.

Legs seemed not there today which was confusing. Thought I'd just do 30 miles but my not riding on Monday kept nagging at me so I pushed and did 40 miles--I just didn't do the 40 at a very hard, fast pace.
|
43 miles with the local Tuesday/Thursday group. 7 of us rode and had a terrific ride with the cooler temps. We averaged 20+ and they kept kicking me me out front to pick up the pace.

15 easy miles with my stoker yesterday evening.

100.55 mile shore ride yesterday, Ocean City NJ to Cape May and back...with a few excursions up by Atlantic City and the surrounding area. Perfect weather, but my nose got burned!

http://app.strava.com/rides/19362954 31 @14 and still had enough gas left to get second best time on a 5K segment near the end. Nice thing about living far away from civilization is I can have as may KOM's as I want. If they ever do get challanged - it will be easy.

No ride today due to two early doctor's appointments. I'll be back on the bike in the morning.

Beautiful day for a ride out to the Simpsonville DQ.

Short ride on the BRP this afternoon. It was a nice cool day in the low to mid 60s for the ride.

22.5 miles at 17.2 mph this evening near home - fortunate to live not far from some rural roads with rolling sections where it is easy to get up to speed and stay there. Happy that the remaining shin hematoma/swelling from a commuting fall 5 weeks ago is merely annoying and s-l-o-w-l-y going away. Will be happier when knee-high socks are not part of my cycling attire but I find Reebok compression and All-sport socks to be helpful in providing support and protection and minimizing swelling.

I have been a riding animal. Another 50 mile day!

No miles today , but preparing for a puppy to arrive
|
40.3 miles this morning--much better pace than yesterday. Also add 2 mile cool down at the end--so, 42 miles total today.

Was able to get in 17.3 miles in today's flooded MUP ride. Several places on the service roads that were high and dry on Tuesday's ride were under two or more feet of water today. Only one place on the loop was underwater and impassable today. It wasn't a big deal, since you could turn around and ride in the opposite direction to the other side of the bridge. They made the loop two way traffic because of the flooding. No more rain is predicted for the rest of the week but Isaac is out there and possibly headed our way.
This was almost dry on Tuesday's ride. It is on the loop and the only place that was flooded. The other flooded areas were on the service roads. The water at the center of the bridge is approximately 2' high. https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...09619816_n.jpg This is off one of the service roads that I normally use as part of my ride. Tuesday, there was some standing water by the trees on the right. https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...96960762_n.jpg |
This was one of those days that can make cycling in Kansas a real pain. 24mph south wind with gusts to 34mph. The downwind legs were over in a heartbeat but the headwind sections were a head down and grind it out proposition. I put in 24 miles but the average speed was way off.
Temperatures were in the high 80s during the ride. |
Our little Tuesday/Thursday group made good use of the remaining daylight and got in another 40 miler. We actually set a record for the fastest average speed for that route. Great weather for riding.
|
40.4 miles this AM in 2 hours 11.5 minutes.
|
Commuted to work with the missus, who just recently started a new job that she can ride to. She's pretty funny; after about 4 miles she pulls up next to me and says "normally when we ride together I think you're going too fast, but good lord, could you pick it up a bit?"

44 miles Wednesday and my son drug me out yesterday for another 40 miles. Very nice to get two good rides on back to back days.
The link below shows Wednesdays ride. Forgot to turn on My Tracks until about 4 miles into ride. Hartford is the village at the north-east corner on this route. Last downhill is a good 35-40 mph descent. 44 miles is based on my cycle computer not the My Tracks App. This App alway loses miles and speed for some reason. Really good for showing where you went. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msa=...36b5b74358e254 |
