19 miles, although the arthritic knees weren't really happy about it today? What a nice day, 70 F, a bit of wind but SUNNY and that's VERY, VERY rare here in Colorado Springs on Halloween, COLD and snow is much more normal, should be lot's of little gobblins out tonight! :) One kinda cute thing, as I was riding down the MUP, I waited for a Dad and his daughter on a "scoot bike", there was a rider coming up the path also, the little girl pulled to the side and told her day, hey cool, two bike riders but the one in the red, (ME), he's wearing a helmet like me, he's smart huh Dad?, :D

Because of the hurricane I've been riding a bike on a trainer for the last three days, an hour a day. But I think the cyclo-computer is broken because it says I haven't gone anywhere. Same with my GPS. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe they need new batteries?

Squeezed in a ride this morning before the office costume party/potluck. I beat out the incoming storm and enjoyed the autumnal smell along the way.

Finally! A real ride after the Sandy interruption. 46 miles this early, and chilly, am.

18 trail miles but the legs are weary!

Bikey Mikey 11-02-12 05:29 AM

32 miles this early am. A "nice" wind that made the ride even more chilly.

ctpres 11-02-12 05:55 AM

50.4 mi so now half way to my century. Miles and body feel OK but speed needs a lot of improvement to make my goal.

Something new, I bet most of us have not thought of..........

Hurricane Sandy blew down some detour signs, so we could get lost in the middle of nowhere, in the dark. Finally found the missing sign on the ground. 55 miles about 25 in the dark. Getting lost is fun, but the missing sign was annoying.

24 miles this afternoon on one of my favorite rural routes. Didn't feel all that strong and my legs weren't cooperating that much. Hopefully I can get in a better ride tomorrow.

Here is a few picts shot with my phone. The temp was a little better Sunday, about 62° but a good bit of the ride was into a 10-12 mph wind.

This thing probably doesn't look like much to you hill country guys but it just goes on and on and there is a little kicker right at the top. If any of you have been on the Italy, Tx bike ride and did the longer loop you did this hill.

Pretty much the same route except on a 1979 Trek 710 except ran the hills then turned around and ran them backwards. BTW, no Texas ride should be without at least one cow picture.

I was gifted 4 of these tires, so I did Pumpkin Ride Today 68 miles.

Two blowouts on the front, caused by user error when installing tubes to the 700 X 20 tires.

7.9 mile 'interval workout course scouting' ride, including picking up the wife's car from school... I guess its better than nothing.

Bikey Mikey 11-03-12 08:31 AM

Only 26 very chilly miles this am. There was a ½ marathon and a 5K event on the streets. The police said I could travel on the roads--just watch out and be careful with the runners. Also, on a portion of my route, there was a utility truck dealing with a line on the road, not across it though. I decided a second loop or even ½ second loop was jut going to be a real pain in the @&&! so I just did 26.

Only 15-ish miles this morning, but that's more than I expected. I was originally scheduled to spend some of this weekend working via Webex with a vendor tech on a long-running configuration change at work (computer-related). But at the last minute it was postponed due to a lack of the necessary paperwork between our companies, so Saturday/Sunday opened up a bit. Good thing - I'm out of town a few days next week and can use the time today for other important stuff (like riding! :D). I hope to get a ride or two in while gone, as well, since I'm taking the bike.

Start was delayed while waiting for the morning fog to burn off a bit, since some of the ride was on a busy highway. Even took a shortcut through a local cemetery! Also managed to find a few of what pass for hills around here... not that I wasn't wheezing just the same... I'm no climber, but I guess that's how one 'gets there'. Eventually. :innocent:

Did my birthday ride on my bithday, 62 years and 65.3 miles, with 3721 feet of climbing. Just a wonderful day. Club ride tomorrow. What will next year bring? I can't wait to find out.

Got back to my NY home from Florida Wednesday night after flights resumed to upstate Stewart airport. JetBlue terminal in Fort Lauderdale was a ghost town with only 6 flights leaving with only one to NY. Got home to a blacked out home as a big tree across the street knocked out the transformer and power for about 1000 homes in my neighborhood. Feel blessed that was my only problem as my neighbor had a 80 foot pine tree come down and shear off his deck. Finally today we heard the trumpets sound as a utility crew from Ohio came in to repair the damage. I couldn't thank them enough for driving in and helping my local utility. They came with about 50 trucks and crew to help out and finally about 90 minutes ago for the first time in 6 days we have power and heat!
Oh and I finally got out today and did 35 cold miles. Temperature was 42 with a wind chill of 34 which was a lot colder on the bike. Layered up and was fine except for my cold toes.
Hears hoping that the utilities restore power to the rest of NY and NJ which is still a mess and let's not even talk about the gas lines!

Well, I started off to go via bike to the swim pool to swim some laps. The weather hasn't been all that great here. But I got there too early, and instead of waiting for the pool to open I went out on a ride. Rode about 12 miles, and came back without much rain. I went on back routes to a park with a nice MUP, took that around four ponds, and then came back. Really enjoyable...

Got out and did 18km while the rain has stopped. It felt great to be out because it's been a week since I rode.

Put in a quick 18 miles this afternoon. The legs felt a lot better than they did on Friday's ride. I also pushed my annual total over 3000 miles YTD. :D I don't know if that is a lifetime personal best but it certainly is the best total of my 50+ cycling career. I am already wondering about matching this pace next year.

jimmuller 11-04-12 05:36 PM

49.7 miles on the tandem. Long story, long trip sort of. We went out with a neighbor on his Serotta. His wife was hoping to go to a newly-opened garden center, and after our lunch break I suggested we head down to some roads in that direction and eventually we all decided to go by that garden center and meet her. Everybody ended up happy.

Great ride today with a couple of friends. 57.6 miles with a 17.5 avg.
