11 miles by GPS. From my front gate to The hill, almost all uphill then back down. Old US Route 40. About 450 ft vertical in 5.5 miles, but most of it in two nice steep climbs up to about 15% grade. Hit 33 mph on one stretch according to the little smart phone. Is that fast ??

I was so knackered on the return leg that two little old ladies on a hover-round scooter went smokin' by me me on the last 1/2 mile climb. But I got them back on the downhill......! LOL Wuff |
I haven't ridden since Thursday and was told today that I'll be off the bike for another two weeks, minimum. Doc said I have tendinitis in the left knee. I don't know which is worst, riding with pain or having riding withdrawals. Since my 6,000 mile year isn't going to happen, it would be nice if I can break 5,000 again.

Sorry to hear John. Not to rub salt in the wound, but I've broken 6000 just on the road bike I got in the beginning of March. About 600 - 700 miles were on the old comfort/hybrid before that.
Did a very chilly 32 miles this am(was about 36ºF and wind chill near 30ºF). The cold seems to be sapping my speed and I definitely need to get some chemical warmers for my feet and hands. I wore a double layer of wool socks and my feet were really cold after an hour and I rode another 40 minutes...hands were really cold too. Do note that this is starting at 04:40--no sun and ending around sunrise. |
I know this is cheating, but I'm going to post about yesterday's ride. I did a 45 mile club ride out by Lake Minnetonka. The fast group was strong and spirited and we averaged 20 MPH for the ride. I confess that I spent almost no time on the front, but it was a good workout nonetheless. But what pleases me greatly is (a) I was in no danger of being dropped - a couple of months ago I was in pathetic shape, but much of my strength and endurance have come back and (b) I wasn't wasted at all later in the day - no heavy legs and no significant fatigue. It's great to really be back!

15 miles this morning, starting just before sunrise, finishing well before rush hour... my knees never did warm up, I'm gonna have to get some knee warmers or something.

I was a Bike Commuter today: 20 miles. Right about 30F this morning but dry and no wind--> not bad. 40's this afternoon.
Ashamed to say didn't ride to work last week at all. |

Way to go on breaking 6,000 miles this year. This was somewhat of a bad year for me. I had two months off the bike from injuries and last month I was up north for three weeks on family issues. I hope that next year will be better for riding and not so rough on my body.

25 miles, went to the LBS to get a new rear rack installed, then a bit of a ride on the Midland Trail MUP into Manitou Springs, then back to the monthly meeting for the Colorado Springs Cycling Club, finally got home at "9 PM. MST". I wish I could afford those really expensive head lights but my Cateye Uno's do a pretty good job, even on a DARK MUP with no house lights! :)

Just got back from a 16 miles ride and still waiting for my toes and fingers to defrost. Coldest weather I've ever ridden in. Temperature 32 degrees with a wind chill of 22! Of course the wind chill is standing still. Had four layers on the top, beanie cap under the helmet bibs that ride high in front and winter pants over the bibs. Just ordered toes covers for my shoes but don't know what to do with my fingers as I don't really want to wear those lobster gloves. The bright light for me is going to S. Florida right after thanksgiving for the winter. Retirement is a wonderful thing.

yes! 20 (.7) miles, including 40 minutes of intervals (what doesn't kill you makes you stronger). Cold, but not too cold.

23 miles in awesome late fall weather here in Colorado Springs, Sunny, slight breeze, 70F, SWEET!! Suppose to be in the low 30's F come Saturday. :(
|
34 chilly miles this early am.

I changed shifts today so I could do a beginners bike maintenance class tonight so I got a 26km ride this afternoon after work. It was sunny for once but cold. Felt great to be out in the sun as those kind of days are few and far between here on the "wet coast" during the winter.

21 miles, stopped on the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail to take a "last bit of fall color" shot as we are suppose to get "lite snow" and 20F temps by late Sat. afternoon and all day Sunday. :(

Biked to work - and back! - today. 20 miles. Mid-30's this am but upper 50's on the way home. Encountered one salmon cyclist in the bike lane on a one-way street. I slowed way down but stayed in the lane while he veered around me into the auto lane. No cars right then. Grinned like an idiot when I yelled "This is a one way street, man!"

Didn't post yesterday as I was really busy. Did 32 miles yesterday early am.
Did 42 miles this early am @ 36ºF(2.2ºC). |
47 miles in 2.5 hours today. Warm-for-November weather made for a good ride. A little rain started to fall at the end of the ride.
These good rides are becoming fewer and far between. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/241978351 |

14 miles, which part was to ride with the "Pedal Powered Veteran's Group", in the Colorado Springs, CO. Veteran's Day Parade! It was nothing but Dark Clouds, 40F with 25+mph winds when I left the apartment to head down town. I got POURED ON for a couple of miles then as I arrived at our stagging point, it stopped. The parade started at 10 AM. we didn't get our cue to leave till 10:30 AM., finally the sun came out so the ride was decent. We had a "father/son Unicycle" team the crowed really loved, 2 Rec. Trikes and 1 Rec. Quad, they ran circles around the group and did, "High Fives" with the kids! Managed to get back home before more RAIN. Snow tonight and tomorrow, Arrugh!

28 miles, some good hills, suffered most likely because of pre-ride eating of buffalo chicken wings (erp). Cold-ish (40s) - new knee warmers won't stay up... There, I think I've complained enough for one post.

75 miles in glorious sunny skies
