74 miles and 550 feet of climbing. Average speed 14 miles per hour. I went out with a faster group than I am used to, and was able to hang for most of the ride. 3 flat tires slowed the group down enough to help though

[TR="class: hide_unless_distance"]
[TD="class: label"] Wife and I finally made our local Bear Mountain. We have visited Sedona, AZ 4 times in the the last three years. Hiked a tough trail called Bear Mountain. Only made it to the top twice...once in good weather...once in mild rain. Other two times we got stopped once by really bad rain and then by scary ice in the wrong places.
Started riding in April for the first time since childhood. One goal was the ride to Marshal and back. Three tries failed...first from lack of conditioning...second two from rain. Both the rain rides we got close, but the mountain roads got too scary with no brakes.
MADE IT there and back home Friday!
Just signed up for RideWithGPS. Friday's ride to Marshal:

Ride this morning was in the 90's with 62% humidity and not very many clouds in the sky. Got 44 miles in but had to dodge a lot people that took the opportunity of today's great weather to get out to the MUP and ride, run, rollerblade or just walk.

Not today, but I had a great ride yesterday. Through the magic of Facebook, the word got out about a ride looping from the base of Highway 39 at Encanto, up Angeles Crest Highway, and back down to the start at Highway 39. I dunno how many people ultimately showed up, but I think the number was 50+. I saw some people I haven't in way too long.

Thunderclouds and rain threatened when we reached Islip Saddle, so we skedaddled it back to the cars. But what a great day.

I don't think anyone got a pix of all of the participants all in one place ... we were scattered pretty wildly about. But here's some of us on Cloudburst Summit.

Haven't been on a 60 mile ride with rollers since first half of the 80's back in NJ, NY, NH. Didn't forget how to spin up the inclines while the young guys worked the big gears. Felt great.

About 25 km "fitness ride" on flat bar road bike. Some construction, so had to deviate from the usual route. Saw a wide variety of cyclists on the MUP portion of my ride - many with training wheels.
