Rode Sunday for the first time in a week. I did a route that was on an organized ride that I had paid for but missed in early January due to the Flu. It was 65 miles and I finished in under 4 hours.......breezy at times and temps were 32 to a surprising low 50's. Great day to ride!

just noticed another from hollister. I've lived here abt 10 yrs but new to cycling. I did 25 miles ( personal best) at anderson dam trail on sat.

No miles. We're in the middle of the polar vortex. It's about 6 degrees right now and snow up to your butt. I can usually ride in snow and even an ice covered road, but this is too much. Anything above 20 degrees is a freakin' heat wave. It's that "global warming" thing.

I guess I forgot to post yesterday. Did 49 miles with my regular riding buddy after getting rained out of our 66 mile scheduled ride. We had a newbie rider with us and we let him set the pace so it wasn't very fast and he ended up doing 44 miles. It rained this morning so I took a chance after it stopped raining. Forecast called for sunny skies and 0% chance of rain until 4:00 PM. That didn't happen. Got rained out again shortly after I left the parking lot for my second lap. 20 miles total for today with some really good intervals thrown into the ride.

41 miles today.

Rode 15.13 miles after a late morning shower line passed through. Warm today but this too shall end tonight as the dread polar vortex doth approacheth. Pretty nice riding weather actually, 63°F and a strong north win and the humidity fell, also. The schools, government offices, colleges and university are all closed tomorrow and Wednesday due to a total lack of deicing equipment for the roads down here. It is a real zoo here when it ices over or snows as far as driving goes. No one knows how to handle the icy surfaces and won't admit the lack of skills, hence it is safer to just cocoon at home. Fire wood is in place in the cradle.

44 miles on a beautiful, 70* morning with blue skies and no wind. Tomorrow is forecasted to be pretty crappy so I don't think I'll be riding.

Easy 32 miles on Tuesday, the last 9 miles of which were into a headwind. Temperatures were very nice - jersey up top only. AND, we might get rain tomorrow.

I have missed two days consecutively for the first time in a long stretch due to the cold here. Too much ice, as Yoda said above, to ride anywhere, just walking was not real easy. The schools are out for the third day as what little thawing there was froze again in ice sheets last night/this morning. It is 19°F right now and some relief is in sight today. It is supposed to be in the mid 40's today and into the 60's by Saturday. Interesting times here, but back to riding today is my first priority for after work.

It's looking as if today is going to be another crappy day like yesterday. It's not so much the temperature, as I've ridden in colder temps, but the all day rain is not conducive to my riding.

Finally, after 3 weeks, I was able to actually ride outside! After all of the bitter cold we've been having, the 26 or 27 degrees it was at the start of my 12 mile ride felt like a heat wave!
It was so great to be out in the fresh air - I loved it!

Rode 25.56 miles yesterday, it warmed up a lot during the day, 53°F when I went riding and a slight N wind. Sun was out and it felt pretty good after to days of hibernation and ice. supposed to continue the warm up through the weekend, then another front but on a different track this time so not as strong as the last month has been. Still a lot of icy patches out.

15.15 miles this afternoon, a blue bowl sky with no winds at all. 57°F so it was about as mild as it could be, great riding all round.

54 miles on the Tampa Honor Ride (Ride 2 Recovery) for the Wounded Warrior Project. Except for the wet roads from last night's rain, too many stops and a route that had way too much traffic on it, the ride was a great success.

getting this posted on the day I ride it for a change. 101.5 @ 17.3 ave. 72 miles on the club ride and riding to the start and back home. then after lunch I went back out for another 30. I was over a mile into the ride after lunch when I noticed the timer was not started on the Garmin.

After yesterday's 54 mile charity ride on all those roads with very heavy traffic, I decided to do a nice slow, casual ride at the MUP today. Great weather with temps in the 70's and low 80's, blue skies and not much wind for my 44 mile ride with my riding buddy today.

We did our first tandem ride of the year. Only 25.35 miles, but some was slow going as we negotiated snow/ice patches. Temperature started at 49degF with partly overcast sky. During lunch the sky clouded over and it started raining lightly. Fortunately the ride back to the car was pleasant enough.

Did another ride into the San Gabriels yesterday. If ridden from the base to Dawson's Saddle (7900 feet), it's one of the longest climbs in SoCAl. But with cold temps predicted, we played it by ear.

What a great climb. Since it is closed to vehicular traffic after the Crystal Lake cutoff, there is virtually no traffic, and it winds high and higher on a very smooth road.

Here we are at the West Fork Bridge. I was trying out a new Showers Pass jacket, which everyone quickly dubbed "the shower curtain."

The climb is not only long, but relatively steep, given the distance. 8-9% much of the way. And the higher we went, the colder it got. Here's Debbie and I honking to keep warm.


We decided to skip the ride to Dawson's (which we could see was clearly under a cloud and likely snowing), and instead went to Crystal Lake.

It was COLD at the Crystal Lake Cafe. I walked in to see a couple of riders dressed in kits, without arm or leg warmers, without a jacket, and without long fingered gloves! :eek: Cripes. The two of them were having a shiverfest near the stove. The Cafe had gloves for sale ... that was a Godsend to one of the girls, who had joined us instead of taking her planned ride at lower elevations.

I offered to buy the gents some $4 gloves if they had no money, but they politely declined. I tell you ... they must have had a COLD ride down. I was cold enough to shove some newspaper in my jacket ... and was promptly made fun of.

I talked Debbie (not that it took much) into riding up little Glendora Mountain Road. We had some lunch at Camp Williams and headed on up. Debbie is a great climber, and the climb went pretty quick. From the top, we could look back on Highway 39:

74 miles with 3400 ft of climbing in glorious 60+ degree weather in NC. It's amazing how lighter you feel on the hills when it's warmer and have less layers of clothing on. Due to traveling and weather my weekday rides have been non existent in 2014. Looks like another week with wet and cold weather Mon-Fri......

Did a group ride today. Really warm for Feb, low 50s. Tomorrow, we pay for it with 2-4" snow!

Finally got a ride in on Saturday, 36 miles with four buddies, light wind, blue sky, with a touch of snow and ice on the side of the roads. Been cold and wet in east Tenn. Only 3 rides all year
