Took a nice 25.1 mile ride this afternoon, none of the dark clouds were productive in their rain potential so it was a win column ride. Our humidity is on the way back up now that the south winds have returned.

60 miler taking in some of the routes to be utilized in centuries in NW Indiana...

JanMM, it looks like a gentle breeze will knock that barn over.
Hot here at home but just beautiful up in the mountains. A small group and bf member Biker395 came along. This guy has done a bunch of endurance racing so our little 7 hour rides are just a warm-up to him, plus he's in great shape right now. He was telling stories about the pastor at his church and his wife and their many health issues, both have had heart attacks, falls down stairs, etc. He said something about how terrible it is getting old, and how the pastor will soon have to retire. I asked, "How old are these people?" "About my age" came his reply, (he's 58). I said, "You realize you're the youngest one here, right?" |
Short ride today, first time in about four weeks... and boy could I tell it (I sucked). My miles for this year are about a third of last year, which was below that of the previous year (which was not really that much, after all). But I guess any ride is better than no ride.

105.5 miles with 10,600' of climbing. Included a 12 mile and 8 mile climb but lots of hills otherwise. Severe cramps starting at 25 miles kept me from doing a very good time. I was at 3 hours the first 50 miles with over 4000' of climbing but limped in at over 7 1/2 hours. Need to cut out the beer......Celebrating by heading to Aruba tomorrow.

66.8 @ 17.3 ave on the club ride today

Did the first half of the annual birthday ride today. Starting last year, I'm allowing myself to ride my mileage within a 24-hour period, (instead of 'one day' as a single ride). Sixty-three miles today and another sixty-three tomorrow will give me my 'twice my age in miles' goal. Since I started today at 3:01 in the afternoon, I'll have to plan to start so that I can finish by that time.

I love being able to head out the door and get some great riding in. Saturday I rode 104 miles up through Goshen Pass to Deerfield, then back down through Douthat State Park, and Clifton Forge and back:
Garmin Connect Had kind of a psychological bonus. When I made up the Garmin route I accidentally clicked funny or something, and repeated about a ten mile section of the route. I was preparing for a 116 mile ride. At about mile 90 I realized it wasn't going to be anything like that far, and was happy enough to make it back with "only" 104 miles, and 6600 feet of climbing. |
yesterday I rode 75 miles, 2800' of elevation, fixed gear in Texas heat. Spent as much time recovering in AC at store stops as on the road. Not one of my better ideas. Set a new record for Slow Riding contest!

Good idea 10 Wheels. Better idea would have been to get naked and crawl into the beer cooler. Not a pretty sight but highly effective. Might still be in there if I had tried it!

Git in another 25 miles after the thunderstorms passed through, very humid this afternoon. Bill |
41 miles today on rolling hills. Unusually cool temps here with the wind directly out of the north off of Lake Ontario.

50.7 miles @ 16.6 ave this morning on the club ride

Fifty mile ride on Sunday, Aug, 17.
|
Did a "ride your age" ride yesterday: 58.22 miles on the New River State Park trail yesterday.
|
Well, not today but I rode 45 miles on Sat. It started out quite nicely but soon the 3 h's(heat, humidity and hills) conspired to sap my energy. As a result I spent much of sunday keeping my recliner company.:)

Had such a great, busy weekend. Spent the day riding Angeles Crest with some friends, including Big John.
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ps58779a4b.jpg Spent the evening camping near Grassy Hollow. From there, you have a birds eye view of the LA basin and the Antelope Valley. Awesome. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...psd286b0af.jpg We even had a campfire concert. I would have pulled out my uke, but ... http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ps0dbbdecc.jpg And Sunday, went for a social ride with my good buddy Steve ... I'll be crewing for him on the HooDoo 500 this weekend (as will his daughter, in the background) http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...ps63c2ba39.jpg |
20 miler this morning. Had a good duel with some other rider. Three miles to catch him, he stayed around for three, I dropped somewhere in last three. I'm not that fast but I love racing like that. 20 miles in 70 minutes. Great way to start week 12.

Did a very fast paced 44 mile ride yesterday with a 34 year old, ex coworker from my last job. Today, I decided to take it easy and modified the 22 mile loop of my current route with part of the ride we did Saturday, riding to my daughter's house. I also added a different return route which comes out to the same distance of my current 22 mile loop. Total of 35 miles for this mornings ride.

Rode 30 miles today. Flat terrain and cool temps. Once again it does not feel like August here in upstate NY.
|
21 Bike Commuting miles today. Felt a bit more summer-like but still not very hot, just humid.....
|
Yesterday, 25+ miles after the thunderstorms went through. Very high humidity after all the rain.

Bill, it's good to start seeing your name again after your hiatus.
