9 miles this evening - very thick/humid and pretty warm but not really hot.
|
20 miles. Hot and muggy. I'm feeling tired and may take off from riding next week while in Utah.
|
Second scorching day in a row. Tried to do my new 44 mile route in the 2 hr 4x min range but the heat and humidity just wouldn't let me do it. I was pretty beat after the ride this morning and ready for a long afternoon nap.

17.40 miles with my wife. Love riding on a cloudy day. I should live in Oregon.
|
I've put 530 miles on the Roubaix SL3 since Jun 30. Between the three bikes I usually get in 120+ miles/week. 18.5 today with a total of 2588 miles for the year. My legs are in great shape. Too bad the rest of me is so old.

Hit 97°F on my computer's thermometer this afternoon, the weather report said the heat index was 110°F. Rode 26+ miles and felt everyone of them. I'm actually glad that I got this one in.

I get to work from home one day a week, home being my new place in the highlands region of central Virginia. Late in the afternoon when the rains passed i did a gorgeous 30 mile loop with plenty of hills, farms, mountain scenery, a local college town, and a cruise back home along a beautiful creek.
To rework John Denver a little bit, "Almost West Virginia, I'm in Heaven"... |
20 miles this morning with two buddies. Hit 23.5 for a brief moment but stayed at 21 mph for a good period of time. This is the end of my 12th week. I think I've progressed well. Twenty pound decrease in that time period. Feels great.

44 miles yesterday and another 44 miles this morning. Not quite as hot as it was yesterday (or so it seemed) but it was still an oven outside. Rode with one of my riding buddies for the entire ride and picked up another one of my riding buddies at the midway point. Great ride, overall.

A 21 mile local route that includes a couple of hills early this afternoon. Not awful hot but awfully humid makes thing awfully uncomfortable. Later on we got another downpour.
|
103 miles on a misty, damp, and ultimately torrentially wet day. Rode up through Goshen, Craigsville, Buffalo Gap, Staunton, and back through Middlebrook in VA. Had a couple of really scary dog encounters, but fortunately I was on fast downhills at the time. Not sure what I would have done if I were going up.
About 20 miles from home, got hit with a tremendous thunderstorm. It was blinding. I actually was having a little trouble breathing because of all the water. After about ten miles the rain stopped, and just as I started drying out a bit, hit another patch of rain, just like the first. More blinding rain for the last five miles. Had to go take a shower to dry off. |
This morning, 46.2 mi. @ 19.8 mph avg.
|
36 miles yesterday and only 27 today due to time constraints.
|
Did a nice 22 mile ride with my riding buddy and his dad. He's trying to get him into cycling and it looks like it's working. My riding buddy is in his 30's and his father is 59.
|
46 mile club ride today on the Screamer with Favorite Stoker in Hancock County. Climbed to the highest point in the county - very flat county as I never considered using the smallest ring today.
Typical scene today: Cornfield on one side of the road and soybeans on the other. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...M/IMG_3470.jpg |
51 miles at a snails pace. Amazing what happens to your riding sitting on the beach for a week, drinking way to much Aruba beer and eating way to much Aruba food.
|
Did my usual 25+ miles this afternoon, not nearly as hot or humid as it has been. Waited out a short shower before getting out so it felt much cooler.
Jan, that shot could be on several locations along my regular route, corn and soybeans are the crops du jour for here, too. Bill |

I'm in the far NW corner, it is commonly referred to as LA, or Lower Alabama, although we have plenty of gators here.

27 miles. Was 87F and about 80% humidity and it felt like it was in the high 90s. On top of that I got a flat and had to change it in the heat. I had just come off a long gravel road with no cover and there was a building where I could get shade to change it. Thank goodness it didn't happen a mile out in the sun, and my tires and wheels make it an easy quick change (Vittoria cross and Fulcrum racing 7 CX).
So it was a great ride regardless - I had not rode since commuting last Monday because of a minor medical condition so it felt good. :) Went to the gym afterwards and worked out some. |
20 miler with my wife. Enjoyable ride.
|
4 miler around the neighborhood with my wife. Nice, leisurely ride on a hot, muggy evening.
