Did you ride today?
#1501
Did 24 miles this beautiful and bright sunny morning. Started with temp at 29 and quit the ride at 45. 2 more days left for the month and I am looking forward to tomorrow and Monday to get 48 miles so I could at least attain 200 miles this month. I don't ride after October but since the weather has been nice with no snow and ice so far despite cold temps, I find riding comfortable. I need to ride next month and need 300 miles to finish the year with 3000 which I think is doable.

Beautiful day in central FL today, the temps in the low 60s and no wind. It was in the low 40s this morning and I didn't think it would warm up enough for me to get out but it did.
You see I have a 60 degree rule, anything below that and I stay by the fire (I'm such a wimp). I guess I have been in Florida to long.
It just doesn't get any better than this.
28.23 (s)miles today
570.67 (s)miles this month
6237.47 (s)miles this year
19 ride days this month (Nov.)

Best laid plans !
Just as I was looking forward to my Thanksgiving Day ride to Salem Lake, I received an invitation to join some new friends in their celebration. That killed my aspirations for Thursday and yesterday went much the same. Today’s ride was a delight!
It must have reached 60 F and was very sunny. I had planned today’s ride to occur during prime TV football time. But I had forgotten that Wake Forest University was playing at home and was pleasantly surprised that there had been no sign of any game traffic until I stopped at the last major intersection before the home leg of my ride. A gentleman in a neighboring lane asked about my ride, mentioned the game and said “we won”. As the light changed in my favor, he bid me a safe ride, I responded in kind.
Then for the rest of my ride I pondered the extended team concept. Something like concentric circles in a pond disturbed by a stone. At the center is the actual team, the first circle is the alumni attending the game, the next circle is alumni watching on TV, the next ring are other supporters attending the game and so on until circle, by circle all supporters are represented in what is surely a global we.
We who ride the roads by ourselves are an independent lot. Our “team” is much more ephemeral than most. We share a distant drummer who sets a cadence each of us interprets individually. Yet they ask why we do this.
The ride today was 14.15 miles in 1 hr 4 minutes. No load today, except for the rack trunk. A respectable distance at a decent pace reflects the benefits of two days of rest. Tomorrow, it is Salem Lake. Temps are expected to be in the mid 60s.

No riding this week. I'm in sunny Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. The resort doesn't have rental bikes, can you believe it? We'll be returning home Saturday and the long range forecast does not look too good for our return.
Hopefully I can get some miles in before I have to return to work on Wednesday the 9th.

Rode 17+ miles today after several days of rain and storms. Felt good to get out. Temp in the high forties. Light wind. Really like my Craigs list '78 Fuji S10S.

40 rolling miles with 7 riding partners, including BF member, Leinad and his wife. Great weather and great partners under high 40's and sunny sky's. My last ride in 2009, details after Tuesday. 2009 miles 7,357.

36 miles on the Casseroll. I was joined by a friend I had not ridden with for several months. We rode fairly easily, chatting along the way. It was an absolutely gorgeous day. Sunny, 65-70 F and little wind or traffic.
29 miles in 41°...good shake down for the new SRAM Force set-up.[/QUOTE
I like the new Force with the trim in the big ring. I have Rival on my Roubaix and never liked the trim since it was in the small ring only.
I'm glad you mentioned that...I'm having trouble figuring out how the trim works. In the BR I can tap lightly and get a trim, but it doesn't drop down to the SR without two pushes, maybe more sometimes. Is that an adjustment issue?

Mixed weather in Vancouver this weekend. Saturday was one of those rainy days that I describe as nasty-stay-in-the-house type of weather. Sometimes rides in the rain can be nice. Not Saturday. So, an hour run on the treadmill in the morning and an hour on the trainer in the PM. Ugh, even getting up to an hour on the trainer is hard.
Sunday was much nicer, so 2.5 hours outside.

Got 20 miles in today. 35 degrees, windy, threatening rain, but all equipment performed well. It was a slow ride day for me, so just relaxing to get out there.
I am now only 30 miles short of my 3,000 mile goal. Hope I can get just a bit more time in the saddle before the weather turns completely bad!
It should drop into the small ring with one sweep. You may need to take it to the LBS to get it adjusted. My bike with Rival has always been an adventure getting into the big ring if the adjustment is not perfect. So far the bike with Force has had no issues but will rub the front derailleur slightly in the little ring in the two biggest gears.

Had to work on Thursday, so no ride.
Friday: nearly 40 miles of wandering around.
Saturday: cold and windy, so just under 30 miles of wandering around.
Sunday: gorgeous day, a shade over 45 miles of wandering around, including a stop at the Columbia Memorial Science Center in Downey, on a segment of the old Rockwell site, to learn that they've finally opened the place, but apparently not on weekends.
Consensus: The Black Pearl is a wonderful bike.

No. I walked. Use to like walking until I got back into biking. Now its just a bore. Rainy dark day so decided not to ride. Not looking forward to another Maine winter. Hopefully it will snow enough to use my cross country skis.

Other forms of exercise can make you enjoy cycling more. I run before work when there is not enough light for a ride (mid-Sept thru mid-May here in AZ). I dont enjoy running like I do cycling, but it does help keep me fit.

Hard ride yesterday with a lot of hills, so today I meandered for 25 miles. 45 degrees, sunny, no wind -- beautiful day in Northwest Arkansas. Stopped to watch a blue heron stomping through the wetlands near my house; stopped to watch a guy jumping up and down with an umbrella (little afraid to get too close), and then realized he was taking time-release photos of himself (should have investigated); talked with a boy fishing in Clabber Creek; and chatted with a couple horses. As the sun faded and the temps dropped, I headed for home in a Zen-like state. If you have not meandered lately (or ever), I highly recommend it.

Rode the MTB Sunday for 12 miles on the Rosaryville single track and my thumb got so cold I tried to bail. About half way the trail crosses the road and I thought it went to the parking lot where I park but I was wrong. I had to get back on the trail and finish. I was glad I did as it got a little warmer as I went along. Anyway after rain rain rain and only a day of drying the trail was a little wet and soft in places but all in all it was good to get out there. I went pretty early in the morning and when I was finishing the parking lot was full of MTB'ers getting ready to hit it.
It turned out to be a beautiful day too and I was thinking of riding the roadie but blew yet more leaves and then watched the Redskins lose again.
