Gassy and bloated, but I went for my ride anyway. 10.3 on the local MUP.

Jim, it's nice to know you're human and realizing you're not 26 anymore

JimF2 starts having trouble on rides most of us would find impossible. Ain't none of us 26 any more, unless you're 26 of course. I last saw 26 forty years ago, but I couldn't have done those rides 40 years ago any more than I could do them now. So my hat's off to JimF2!

Ha, when I was 26 I weighed over 350 pounds... and I was on my way up from there. I can't help getting older, but at least I can try to keep from getting fatter.

23 miles today riding to and from work. Wonderful weather.

Oceanblue 05-19-15 05:12 PM

Missed yesterday because of being on road working and today got in 17 minutes of riding before rain, lightening and thunder. Frustrating to say the least. Need to ride earlier in the day.

OldTryGuy 05-19-15 05:30 PM

70 miles Saturday on the Giant and 50 miles today on the 1983 Paramount.

49 miles last night. Went to a "B" club ride that didn't make me so happy - for no particular reason it didn't suit my mood. Then I accidentally took a wrong turn (really, it was an accident) and found myself alone. So I very happily rode the final 20 miles along my own route, and was very happy.

I do love being in good shape - 50 miles in the evening (admittedly, not hammering) and it doesn't feel like a strenuous effort. It's so......satisfying.

That is a nice feeling indeed.

I've just been riding my commute mostly.

Well done MinnMan, still, that is double my daily ride distance, whether or not you are hammering your rides, its still impressive, Chapeau, Sir!

Its certainly is a nice feeling, to be able to kick out the daily ride, 6-7 days a week, and not feel knackered from the efforts. Even the interval days don't seem as troublesome, I assume this means i need to work harder, though:rolleyes: . I am just not doing a daily report here, too much going on at work lately, thankfully.

I go long periods without doing a daily report in this thread, but the thread serves a good purpose. There are these day to day cycling experiences that we want to share (and that for the most part our family and friends don't care to hear about), but that don't justify a new thread.

50 miles on a weekday is a little high, but I do have an ideal week. It's something like this: 120 hard miles on the weekend (e.g., 70 and then 50), Monday off, 40 easy miles Tuesday, 40 fast miles with the club on Wednesday, 40 easy miles on Thursday, Friday off, repeat. Life, weather, travel, minor injuries, and other things interfere, but that' my ideal. If I can do that most of the summer, I am beyond content.

A really pleasant ride today along town harbors and salt water marshes between towns. Harbors are nearly full of boats as owners get theirs' back in the water. Homes with water views sell for higher prices than ones without water views as people prefer being near water. I'm happier near water which is why I live in a harbor town. From a very slow beginning due to crummy weather, I'm slowly getting back in cycling shape.

12.3 miles @ 19.1 rolling ave this morning before work

I used to use this thread as a type of positive encouragement, but it lost some of the feeling that it first had for me. I use Endomondo for daily tracking, I have the phome app so I can enter my ride data, easily. I also keep a Rider's Diary (Joe Friel) that I track my nutrition, vital stats, ride data and any comments I feel like noting. This goes to my doctor's appointments so that he can see my weight, BP and HR stats for each day. Any trends will show up pretty fast, and he likes my doing it. I'll never be fast, or a mile eater, as some of us are, I just enjoy the rides, and the management of my nutrition, with cycling.

Your riding plan is great to me, it has a good balance and you are realistic about what you want to accomplish. Well done.

Yesterday was the last Fire Department Retirees Luncheon until the end of summer so I opted to go to the luncheon instead of going on a ride. I was going to do another short, neighborhood ride but got home and it started to rain before I could get out there.

Nice 35 mile solo ride this morning. Temps in the 80's with mild winds but there were a few pretty strong gusts as it got closer to noontime. Since I still have the Ride of Silence to do tonight, I didn't bust butt on the ride this morning.

Looks as rain my cancel the rest of the ride.

Oh Well.

I would NEVER have imagined this with the miles you ride and climbing! I'm in awe of your ride reports as they are, let alone knowing that you've climbed another mountain so to speak.

I've been slacking in reporting my rides ... Sat. 36 miles, 3700 ft
Mon. 50 miles, 3400 ft
Wed 12 miles and about 200 ft (haven't uploaded the Garmin yet)

An excellent 20 mile ride on the Ride of Silence last night. I guess it interrupted my legs rest cycle because they failed to cooperate on this morning's planned 45 mile ride. Ended up doing half of that since I still have three more days of riding before my scheduled rest day.

It's tough when our legs don't get with the program. Can't they read calendars?

I hear that. I gotta' give you a giant E for Effort JimF. I lost 73lbs riding and kept most of it off.

AM rain Tuesday so I got a haircut but got in an afternoon ride for 10mi. I snuck in a 15mi ride on the Roubaix and just outran the rain on a 6mi trike ride. There was sunshine this morning - until I got on the bike. As soon as I got home from a 15mi ride the sun came out again. Then it tarted to rain as I was on my way home from lunch at the Senior Center. But I got my rides in anyway. Tbhptbhpt.
