Saturday climbing

I got up and was ready to leave the house early to meet my sister for a ride. My husband told me the sink wasn't draining so I had to stop and see if I could fix the issue. I couldn't so I call a plumber and delayed my bike ride. I finally got out at 10:40 am and rode for 20 miles. I am happy I didn't let the plumbing issue ruin my bike ride.

It was too nice to stay inside so I went to the lake after I finished some chores.
77°, sunshine, low humidity and very light wind. Tomorrow I have a minor surgical procedure and Wednesday is forecast to be 103°-106°. Woohoo. Summer is here! 😄 |

Finally caught the Live at The El-Mocambo show on PBS a couple of weeks ago. Early stuff, raw and edgy. (A very young) Layton was already on drums though. They did Flood too. I must have close to 10 hours of different listening material of his, and it's worth it to listen through. Some gems can be found that way. Guy's missed every-where. Talk about history repeating it's self. Enough blathering from me. Think I'll go put on one of the Archives discs now. -D.S. |
A little over 17 miles today.
Grocery run this afternoon 16 miles. Quick, local coffee this a.m. at about a single mile total. https://i.imgur.com/7oIfjwp.jpg Smoke from a grass fire on the east side of the city, as seen on the way back home with groceries. All I had was the a-20 phone, and it's awful camera. Mid 90's when this was taken. We'll be back to more seasonal temps by Thursday morning, according to the forecast. Tonight, I'm doing the camel thing~ tons of water and coffee. -D.S. |
I rode my bike to work today and stayed for 7 hours, then rode home. I got an 11 mile ride total.

The wife and I rode a tad over 13 miles this morning.
We were 'test riding' an east/west route from our house, rather than the usual north/south route we call the cow path. This new route has smooth roads the whole way, and very little traffic mid morning. We'll be doing this more often I believe. |
About 15 miles in total for today. Been splitting rides to avoid midday heat recently. Hit 96 today- may have been hotter- that was the last temp check I did. Very hot for middling May.
About 6 miles this a.m. for coffee and banking before it got too hot. https://i.imgur.com/KVdsD6r.jpg Monochrome outside the coffee shop. This is about 2 miles from the house. The bank is about another mile and a half or so. https://i.imgur.com/hif5waH.jpg At the west end of the riverwalk trail this a.m. https://i.imgur.com/ms8Et9Y.jpg Scenic of the same location. https://i.imgur.com/ViWKtZx.jpg These are the sealed bearing pedals I like. Both the Moto and the new to me "Raleigh" mixte wear them. https://i.imgur.com/IsU83BF.jpg From tonight's 9 mile or so ride. One of the "Boutique", Trendy LBS's in town. I stay out of this one, and that's entirely based on pricing. Never been in there, and don't intend to, unless they start selling decent and affordable parts. These short daily rides are helping me avoid the night-time muscle bunching leg cramps I get when I have a tendency to over-do things. -D.S. |
63 miles with 2600 ft of climbing. Started out in the mid 50’s and ended in the high 70’s. Nice day.

I only did 30 miles today along my usual route. It was a beautiful day with winds under 10MPH. But because they were out of the south for a change they blew in a lot of sea foam. I was doing 200 miles/week but am cutting back to 150. At 78 I'm just running low on fuel lately and there's some big changes happening personally that are going to suck up a lot of my time soon.

The wife and I rode a muggy windy 14 miles around mid morning.
We rode the east/west route again, so at least we didn't have to fight a headwind this time. |
12 miles in sunny, low 70s weather. Recovered quickly. Going very slowly in ramping up mileage in the hope of not re-injurying myself. Great day. I'm very happy I can still ride.

So you are now an official "Commuter"? :thumb:
I left the house very late today it was 2:30 pm. Way past my usual leave the house time. But I had commitments this morning and didn't want to lose another day to not riding. So I stayed on the bike path and rode for 18 miles. |

141km today. I followed my usual route (I’m a creature of habit), and put in a good effort. I set a new personal record for 100km, and despite it being a tough ride, I felt surprisingly fresh afterward. I’m seeing how well my body can handle longer rides at higher speeds, and so far everything is holding together. |
Just 9 miles Thursday a.m. I had been planning an afternoon/evening ride, but the rain took care of that.
Hey Pepperbelly: back your way, courtesy Connor again. No bike shots, but did get these: https://i.imgur.com/4NA6my1.jpg Blossoming crab apple tree heading out. https://i.imgur.com/deFTpCZ.jpg Fountain sculpture in monochrome at the downtown library. I tried a color shot, but this is more impressive to me. -D.S. |

Saturday mornings aren't usually that quiet, at least down-town.
Could go either way right now at 50/50. The Jets snoozed through the opener. Connor got yet another shut-out, which is probably some kind of franchise (at least) record. Haven't seen anyone that good between the pipes since the gumper. Heckuva series, anyways. ETA: D-F/W, huh? Stevie Ray's stomping grounds. Small world indeed. -D.S. At one point - Tristan Jarry allowed a goal on the first shot he faced 6 times - allowed a goal on the second shot 4 times - on the third shot 2 times - on the fourth shot 4 times - on the fifth shot 3 times in a March game vs the Lightning Jarry was pulled after he allowed 4 goals on 7 shots in a November game vs the Stars - the Pens allowed 6 goals in the first period ; rookie goalie Blomqvist allowed 3 goals on 8 shots the Pens gave up a goal on the first shot 13 times during the 24-25 season |

I was able to get out of the house by 6:30 am this morning. I rode for 20 miles and to make my ride even better I stopped at Walmart on my way home to pick up a few items. I was thinking about bringing a pannier but chose not to and so it limited what I could get at Walmart. Oh well.

30 miles with 1,200 feet of climb through Amish Country yesterday. I didnt take pictures. They don't like having their picture taken.
and was also impressed how well they went down hill … one down hill curve was partially covered in loose dirt and gravel and the horse - buggy had no issues |
