That really was an amazing day. We get people out there to ride occasionally, but to see so many good friends there pedaling around was really a treat. Teresa did all the organizing. What I did was simple: what she told me to do. lol

What an amazing group of people. We are all truly blessed.

I decided to take the trike up Spanish Springs Rd. 4 mph at the steepest, 6 mph most of it. 30 mph going down Sparks Blvd. If I didn't have to slow down for the T-street at the bottom it would have been 36+. Wheee. Then on to my regular Truckee River Bike Path ride for 21.9 miles. Cool morning, beautiful day, great ride.

26.4 miles today, warm (80'ish f) and sunny. Average speed 16.2, another PB for speed and distance! After what seems like endless tinkering, I think I may finally have the fit dialed in.

Took a PTO day today so didn't ride to work but I did ride 18 miles to and from the hospital where I work for a visit with my PCP. He suggested that I continue bicycling.
(Holy cow was it hot and humid today!)

Interval workout today. Hot (89 deg) & humid. Total mileage 22 miles. I have a nice flat wide traffic free 2.5 mile stretch to do this workout. The only downside is it's along a sea wall and totally exposed so the wind is always a factor. I alternate one interval into the wind one with it. Although today it wasn't too bad and it was more of a crosswind. But a PIA nonetheless

35.2 miles at 17.2 mph. Garmin said 95 deg. That sounds about right.

The days are heating up (100° today) but the early morning rides are still nice. The Truckee Riverbed is almost dry along the bike path.
19.6 miles on the at a general speed of 13 mph. The auto traffic to and from seems to be multiplying, they're breeding!

Not on the Giant today because rain was in the forecast so pedaling was a bit more of an effort since I was on my 26+ pound Paramount. Met the guys and hung with them for 27 miles then finished my birthday resolution distance of 65 miles or more every time out.

22 miles including a pair of 20 min. Tempo Intervals. Got caught in a cloudburst during the second interval. It really came down and lasted for no more than 10 minutes. Actually felt good in the heat. Cleaning the bike...not so much.

Been commuting all week. Today was hot but dry and pleasant with light traffic. Wednesday and Thursday were hot and very humid. On Thursday my weight was 159lbs when I got out of bed, and when I finally got home after the humid commute it was down to 157. Normally it would go up during the day.

16 mi this morning. Mid 80s, 50+% humidity. What we call muggy.

Saw a variety of cyclists. A trio of 20 somethings deliberately weaving from the bicycle lane to the traffic lane unpredictably. Several cars honked at them. I cringed at a couple of near misses.

Then along the Arizona Canal there were the more serious riders passing me on their road bikes. No problems there except one of them would let me almost catch up then put on the coal, then he would coast again. Not sure what that was about. He had the ability to outpace me any time he wanted. I just kept an easy steady pace and enjoyed the ride.

Possibility of rain heading our way so I got out at 0600 on Paramount for a slow, dark, dry 14 miles before friend texts me about making the LBS ride. Back to house for bike change to the Giant and wouldn't you know the rains decide to show up as we begin. Small group gets smaller as pace picks up and we ride out of rain. Start rotating pulls and eventually I am just hanging on. Head back towards LBS but real dark clouds seem to be right over the store location so I pull off and head towards home. Make it into garage just as big time rain hits. 42 additional miles so I missed the 65 goal by 9.

There seems to be a trend where I wake up the middle of Friday night then sleep in Saturday mornings. Didn't arise until 7:30 this am, that's when I'm usually on the road, so a very late start. Decided to climb Spanish Springs Rd. again, burn a few extra calories. Instead of proceeding onto the Truckee River Bike Path I detoured home to re-re-re-adjust the angle of the Allez seat. Then onto my regular ride, but returned home for something I forgot a second time. There's a reason my head's attached or I'd forget it too. A warm but cloudy 22.9 mile climb and ride. I'm pooped, but it's a smiling, good tired.

We did 50.7 on the tandem today. Had a small spot of trouble easily fixed with the few tools I was carrying.

As I was putting the tandem back into the basement about fine minutes after we got home we heard a long peal of thunder. Five minutes later it started raining.
Timing is everything.

52.6 miles 2 16.5 avg. I was doing a 8.6 mile circuit of which about 4 miles was along a seawall totally exposed to a cross/head wind about 12 mph. Got kind of annoying so I forgot about the 87 deg temp. But I got to ride my bike so it was a good day.

I didn't ride early today like I usually do - It was 4:30 PM and 96F before I got out, although it was significantly less humid than typical (30-ish%)... if the humidity had been typical I probably wouldn't have bothered. Only 11 miles today. It's difficult to build/keep any kind of condition when I can ride (at most) once weekly. Oh well...

55 miles today which included riding to and from a club ride. And the ride. The ride (urban/suburban/rural/suburban/urban) started and ended at the race course for the Mass Ave Crit.
Approaching Indy's downtown nearing the finish:
