36.3 miles @ 16.2 Hooked up with a riding bud I haven't seen all summer. Easy conversational ride which surprised my since he usually likes to bring the pain.

I did a short 10 mile loop "maiden voyage" on my newly acquired used bicycle. The brakes made a little noise. The pads may be ok after a little sandpaper cleaning. If not I'll just put on new pads (I actually stock brake pads). Otherwise the bike ('99 Cannondale R500) was flawless and a pleasure to ride.

Being a great fan and rider of Cannondale bikes, I want to let you know that was a pretty cool acquisition.

Two rides today. The Gazelle took me up Cadillac Mountain and the tandem took us around Eagle Lake.

Yes! I commuted and felt exhausted but it felt good.

Last year I had 6 stents put in and couldn't ride until the end of the season so only logged 1500 mi.

This year I started in the beginning April and was exhausted and the beginning of the ride. I had to be picked up. gasp. By the end of April I could hardly do anything. Turns out I had severe Iron deficiency, probably from internal bleeding from the anti-clotting drugs, but they could not locate it.

Anyways, being treated since April with Ferrous Sulfate, I hadn't been able to really ride until this month. Still feeling pretty tired but it is an "out of shape" tired - that I can deal with!

Took the 'scenic' route home from work for a total of 26 miles today. Again, great weather - slightly cool in the AM and sunny hot/warm not-humid in the PM.

Gotta love the Cannondale love. I similarly "re-acquired" an '03 R600. I sold it to my brother a few years back and was relieved when he agreed to sell it back. It's a beautiful (& stiff) ride.

Today's ride, 15.5 miles, 1400 ft. The daylight is getting short for after work rides ... sigh.

Late note from Sunday, 9/13/15. Busy week, no time to ride since then.

Rode more than 20 miles Sunday, mostly at zen miles per hour. The meandering 11+ mile trip out was lovely, took a little more than an hour, including my first bike ride on Fort Worth's Trinity River trails. Met some nice folks.

Trip home, not so lovely. Closer to 3 hours. Left after 6 pm, got home around 9. If I was any slower I'd be going backward. Legs felt like mushy spaghetti, had to walk most uphills. Still, not bad, considering two weeks ago I couldn't do more than one mile, and struggled to do 3 miles - slowly - the past couple of weeks.

Not sure what this rock formation was. Cairn? Geocache? Sacrificial altar? Dunno, but I wasn't about to tamper with that plastic tube atop the stack. Might have been something leftover from Dia de los Toadies, some sort of arcane local annual ritual.

Got in another 26+ mile ride yesterday afternoon, weather is warming up, once again, its still not as oppressive as the summer was, here. That taste of fall weather got a lot of cyclist out this week. First ride with new Speedplay X-5 pedals, need to get used to the increased amount of float over the old spd-sl, Shimano 105, I had since 2008. Fairly easy to clip in and out of those light action X-5.

18.5 upright miles today on the Sirrus. 51° at the start, long sleeves, long pants. Should warm up for the next several days. Makes for a nice, cool morning ride but in the sunshine it's great.

Cranked out a PR on a 10mi sprint and hill course today. I've been using this course as a good balance of sustained speed on the "flat" 5mi stretch and then cranking out the 5mi of hills and rollers. When I only have an hour or so, this little grinder is adequate and a delight.

Average speed 17.3mph.

Rains in the AM put a damper on things. Cleared around 4:30pm so I dress, prepare bike and head out for LBS ride. Second corner turned reveals dark clouds over the Gulf of Mexico heading towards me. Make a U-turn and after 37 miles I'm back home. Wonderful ride meandering around with lots of no-hand riding.

Different route, but still a 26+ miler, Thursday afternoon. The weather is unexpectedly mild for late summer, here, lower humidity than usual and not onto the mid 90s, thankfully. Feels nice riding and not being wrung out from the heat.

Cranked out 28.8 miles today on the Allez in two rides. Rode over the new Veterans Parkway bridge (it's not open yet) with a friend to see how far they've progressed. This must be a 3.5-4 year project. It'll be a great (and long) ride through Hidden Valley when they finally get it open.

Out at 7:00 AM this morning for a nice, cool 35 mile ride with overcast skies. It was so nice today that I didn't even break a sweat.

40 and a quarter miles today on an out-and-back. 2,280 foot gain with an average speed of 15.6 mph, PB's for elevation, calorie burn and distance. Just a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky, a bit over 80 f, and not humid. Added bonus in that this route is on one of the few roads that they re-paved this summer around here. Sooo nice!

Rode the 50 mile route of the 2015 Le Tour de Bayou in Alexandria, LA this morning. I parked down the street from the starting point, so my bike meter says 50.3 miles and phone/GPS says 49.7. I think 50 will do.

Facebook video of the ride start: https://www.facebook.com/LeTourDeBay...3217806703700/

I'm in there with my 50+ jersey on.

Beautiful day, maybe a bit less humid than usual. It's supposed to warm up to the upper 90s today (hopefully one of the last hot spells we'll have this year?), but it started out nice and cool, around 70 degrees, was in the low 90s when I got back. A little headwind for a couple of 4-5 mile stretches, but nothing bad at all. Actually had a tailwind at times, too!

I'm not fast - 14.7 average with about a 1000 feet of cumulative hills. I talked to a young lady as we were packing up to leave. She did 50 in 2.x hours - I don't recall the exact minutes but they were low, probably a 20+ MPH average (reality check!) ...but that's OK: I told her I was headed for a shower and a nap. She said it's a shower and homework for her. Life is fair after all.

15.5 very tired miles on the Roubaix. Must have used up all my energy on that long ride yesterday (or maybe it's that age thing). Discovered a 2" cut in the rear tire and two small chunks missing. Time for some new shoes for the puppy.

LBS ride was 39 miles for me. At mile 26 they went right-I went left, and never saw them again until the return to the store. Guess they didn't want to do the extra mile into the wind. Added an additional 39 miles for a total of 78.

No more long miles until Six Gap next Sunday.

53.3 miles @ 16.6 with 1371 ft. Got off to a slow start since a local Half Marathon caused a lot of foot traffic and re-routing. Got it sorted out and finally had a decent ride on a nice (76 deg)day.

Two days ago:Thurs. morning a quick five mile ride and then drove sans bikes with my stoker to Ann Arbor, MI to visit her cousin and nonagenarian aunt and uncle. They had come down from northern MI for a medical procedure for one of the elders at a UM hospital - we went along to assist as needed (not with the procedure) - that went well and had a good outcome.
Got back to Indy this afternoon and missed the AM thunderstorms and rain. Twenty mile solo ride late this afternoon.
