Friday and Saturday rides were both 26 miles, as usual. But, they were different routes, needed to add some variety to my outings.

Easy 25 miles, saving myself for a long ride tomorrow. Except I'd forgotten that my wife's birthday is tomorrow so that's not likely to happen. Amazon to the rescue, no worries there but no bike ride. At least I got some hills in, about 650 feet in 5 miles which for me is plenty so it wasn't a total lollygag.

Twenty-four mile tandem ride this morning. Just about perfect weather although I could complain, I suppose, about not having a constant tailwind.

Today (Sunday 9/20), I rode 23.75 miles along the James River here in Richmond, VA. I stayed away from downtown with the UCI Bike Races in town and numerous roads are closed.
But anyway, I rode from my house down to the river, and just kept following along Riverside Dr. I rode to Forest Hill Park's entrance and stopped at a kiosk just before the entrance, and took a photo. Behind the kiosk is a MTB trail and links up with Buttermilk Trail (a very nasty, gnarly, "black diamond" type of MTB trail). All in all, I did the 23.75 mi ride in 1:34 for a 15.3 mph pace.

16.8 Miles on the Allez. Late start (after 9AM) so it was a bit warmer. Shorts & long sleeves. Not nearly as tired as yesterday.
I picked up a huge goathead (the Terminator of stickers) center front on the Allez Friday and flop-flopped over it 3-4 times before I could stop. Plucked it out and continued with my ride. These CST CZAR tires have a Kevlar layer under the tread. Yesterday evening it was flat. TERMINATOR of stickers
. It got through that Kevlar layer and the tough liner. The hole was so tiny I almost couldn't see the itty-bitty bubbles. 'Nuther patch.
Yesterday I noticed a bad cut and chunks missing on the rear of the Roubaix (original tires). I put on a back-up Roubaix Armadillo (pretty used but in better shape) until I can get new ones and this morning IT was flat (sigh). Maybe I pinched the tube? IDK. That's 13 flats this year on three bikes (13 last year). Like the saying goes, if it has t*ts or tires, it's gonna' cost ya'.

Nice 52 mile ride today with my friends Frank, Lou and Tony. First ride with the old gang in quite some time. Really had an enjoyable ride catching up on things.

Another foot race in the area today. A boondoggle at the starting area but it's a nice event, The Chris Hoban Run. In memory of a slain police officer from the area. A race I regularly did in my running days. Police Aviation and FD Harbor get involved.

9/19/15. Tour de Tangipahoa fundraiser for Hammond, LA Kiwanis. Metric century at age 62 in very hot conditions. Finished strong with gas in the tank. Many thanks to all. Main takeaway, Zapp's Salt and Vinegar potato chips are the bomb. Next year, hmmm.

Well Saturday was big day. Rode 76 miles (122KM), 6 over my age!
First 56 with group at 19.2 MPH, next 20 with friend to bring trip to 18.5. Even better heart rate averaged 128 and Max was only 144-a low for sure.

Sunday afternoon was the usual distance, but I did a slow roll. Just wanted to ride some, and take in the air and the sights in our rural, agricultural area. The cotton has all blossomed and the bolls are out. Peanuts are looking nice, but their harvest is just a guess until they get taken up out of the ground, and into the trailers, so they can be taken to the co-op.
No feed corn, or sweet corn in the area this year, must have been a big harvest last year and the silos and bins are still full of the feed corn. The local sweet yellow and white, (silver queen and golden queen) u-pick plots weren't as plentiful this summer as in the past.
The deer hunters are tending the feed plots and setting up their stands. Fall is definitely in the air, it cannot come too soon for me.

Today just a little 15 mile round trip to an appointment. But it's a rest day since I did the Hub on Wheels ride in Boston yesterday.

19.8 miles on the Allez. I showed up at 8AM for the group ride, but no one else. Went for ride, passed them on the way home. They decided to start at 9AM because it was only 58° at 8 (Wimps). They all ride pretty slow anyway. So I did an extended ride and had a Caesar Chicken Salad for lunch.

25.2 miles @ 17.1 with 842 ft. Can't say it's cool yet but I can feel the weather changing. Wind at 10 to 16 kept it feeling cooler than 70 deg. Honestly perfect temp for cycling.
What??? Only 2 wheels?

Just a fancy 5 around downtown area with the Colnago. I'm not big on recovery rides (though I qualify after yesterday) this ride is due to caloric guilt.

A bit cool this morning, but still shorts weather. Perfectly warm in the afternoon for the ride home from work - took the long way for a total of 26 miles for the day.

Yesterday afternoon was cooler here, too. Still in shorts and a SS jersey, but it was actually chilly at times. The weather forecast said that the summer heat has broken for now, that is fine with me. 26+ miles, most of it into the NNE winds as the front passed through.
